both business, i'm show business. i'll see you then. mm. ah, the democratic republic of congo is among the richest countries in the world and natural resources. but he cannot mclee, it's still one of the poorest cobalt is an essential material in manufacturing batteries, fund modern devices. like electrical has mobile phones and computers. 60 percent of the world's cobalt reserves are in congo, but 20 percent of it comes from small scale mines. units have figures confirm that in 2017. more than $40000.00 children worked in cobalt mining in the republic to enter living and paying for schooling. next time you use a fancy gadget like a smartphone camera laptop, and just remember that there's a chance it works thanks to what child hard labor children like, john michelle. henrietta. oh
8:31 am
countless, others like them ah. the movement goes viral as what started in the streets of the capital of canada is now spreading around the world. we're going to bring you the latest from ottawa around the globe and the dramatic and desperate steps, various countries, governments are doing to shut down the freedom convoy as they peacefully protest against covet mandates and continuing to gain momentum class. i really love being a woman, and is it wrong to be proud of the gender? well, just a few years ago and girl power and girl boss was a trend. and now one a famous female is facing a backlash ever. she said she loves being a woman. this is a very popular sports brand, a shocking campaign to sell women sports fraud is this about writing women are
8:32 am
cancelling the gender altogether. our panel will discuss and do you want to make around $600.00 per month and get a free phone? well, it just become a list in san francisco. and these perks are all courtesy of california taxpayers plus neighbors in venice beach threatened to sue as they say, the homeless are setting a legal fires which are threatening their safety. this is not the only city and we're going to bring you the story. i'm sky now here, these are the top stories that we're covering on today's edition of news views. huge here on our t. ah, auto residents are fed up and what sound we're calling an occupation by their city by truckers protesting vaccine mandates. those truckers are at a stalemate with justin trudeau as a traffic and commerce between the us and canada. has seen some major interruptions
8:33 am
. john heidi is on the ground and he's joining us with john scott. and what we're talking about is the ambassador bridge we've been following. what's been going on there very closely? there's been a trucker, a convoy of truckers start converging their overnight monday into tuesday as we've reported. and they've essentially stage a blockade of the bridge or it's really been shut down. now keep in mind, this is an incredibly important commerce point between the united states and canada . in fact, experts say that no more than $300000000.00 worth of goods travels across this bridge every day. in fact, a quarter of all basically goods and trade between the united states and canada goes over this bridge. so it's shut down at this point. it's already affected v auto industry because a lot of parts of bulk of the, the amount of trade is in the auto industry. in fact, toyota said 3 of its plants were shut down here on the canadian side and g m,
8:34 am
and ford said they had to basically suspend several worker ships due to this ongoing blockade. and that, along with several other bridge crossings between the united states and canada, have also that a fact yet. and what the financial over financial, overall financial toll as well that remains unseen as far as what's going on here on the ground. in ottawa, which has been the main staging area of the protest that we've seen stretching across the country, over trucker or vaccine mandates. and overall co of in 1000 rolls while the truckers remain several 100 trucks and that create presents a really difficult predicament for law enforcement officials. the city of ottawa has said for now going into 12 days, they need additional resources. the minister of public safety here in canada during a very feisty and contentious house of commons debate today said that additional royal canadian mounted police officers will be devoted to, to help out the law enforcement to help out police officers here. now what we've seen is an increase in fines. we've seen an increase in tickets. we've seen police
8:35 am
basically stopping gas canisters, people from bringing fuel to the truckers and firewood and that kind of thing. but i gotta tell you, i've been talking to people all day today, truckers, people that we've met, supporters, they say they're not going anywhere until their demands are met until the country starts reducing the cove. it mandates the coven restrictions. we know scotty about 2 provinces, alberta and saskatchewan are already lifting cove measures. and even today, here in ontario, the top doctor said that day the amount of infection is low and that they're going to start reducing and land lifting some of those restrictions. but again, people say they're staying for the course. i gotta tell you as far as the vibe goes and maybe in let's, let's walk over here. it's more of a dance party than anything. yeah. you know, you've heard some of the, you know, just a trudeau, politicians say it's an insurrection that it's an illegal occupation, a place i've said, it's a volatile situation. well, you know, i mean, there's people dancing the music. they had a local wrapper perform earlier. so whether this, you know,
8:36 am
whether this protest continues in the days and weeks ahead, or whether or basically becomes just a battle of political wills that stretches for weeks or months over the cova debate in this country remains to be saying one final point we've talked about protests across canada, basically truckers and solidarity of solidarity with what's happening on the ground . we've seen protests also similar ones in france in the u. k. in australia and new zealand. now there's talk about possibly some kind of quote unquote freedom convoy starting up in the united states as well. so we're here on the ground. we continue to follow the development in ottawa, scott, back to, well, a john just like you spoke about. we're actually going to go and we're going to cover some of these other protests. and you know what i find to be interesting if the business community is the, obviously their pocketbooks are starting to hurt from this. if they also start putting pressure on parliament for the very least start meeting with some of these truckers and have a conversation. so what's happening in ottawa has moved on to other parts of the world. well that's where our ts enrique rivera has this report. the truck,
8:37 am
a convoy that has taken over the ottawa region, has inspired similar movements around the globe and the australian capital of cambra. protesters have been camping out on the city streets for the past week voicing their opposition to vaccine mandates. and in new york, protestors brandish canadian flags in solidarity with the ottawa truckers. i the but the largest protest outside of ottawa if they can place in france in new zealand, georgia, that freedom of choice. same thing. you know that a governor, i bought a rob, we've been told on probation, proven she actually needs a really good thing. but we should be able to decide if we want to have a don't know $1000.00 cars and trucks carrying new zealanders have converged on to that country's capital, wellington, to demand an end to vaccine mandates, and many have stuck around camping outside of that country's parliament. and today,
8:38 am
more than 120 of these protesters were arrested in france, vehicle convoys have been forming in various parts of the country. as protesters planned to descend on to paris this week, another con boys headed to brussels. they met and to loose today to begin their drive. one individual who went by richard asserted leadership of the to loose to brussel convoy. so it is true that i am considered to be the leader of the anti pass movement. it is true that all the measures that are taken, particularly in france, are absolutely scandalous. and i fight since the beginning every day for my cause, for the cause of the people in being supported by the splendid energy authorities in brussels and paris announced the ban on the so called freedom convoys headed to their cities. protests. there are still going for r t. i'm enrique rivera. one brand has decided to make a very dramatic post featuring a 30 women bare chest and all shapes and sizes to promote her sports bra profile.
8:39 am
but as you can imagine, this very striking, collage as an ad is causing controversy and might not even be getting the desire to respond as criticism is coming from a directions of some say the at part, pornographic and shame, that social media platforms like twitter for not offering warnings and flags, especially for young users and some view, the advertisement as sexist is obviously a collage of naked male private bards. advertising for same jogging pants would never be used. but the one criticism which i find to be the most thought provoking is this is just another step towards making gender neutrality the norm by making one of the most dominant physical differences between the genders, more common and every day. so does this help the gender fluid crowd? well, let's asked our guest, host of the ransom is on mo, joe 50 radio. dominic is that alongside with the wonderful rece everson who is the founder of the blush product project. thanks for joining me on. it's actually
8:40 am
a very controversial advertising marketing scheme, and i wanted to have the conversation recent start with you on this. what are your thoughts on this campaign? do you find it to be female empowering or is it actually more insulting? absolutely not each. here is the truth. as a woman, i don't mean to see 48 women and their naked breast in order to know if a sports profits me or that they have sizes to accommodate everybody. this is a cheap play ad advertisement. and it's to cause, you know, sensationalism and ideas. ought to be ashamed of themselves for how they're handling this and not willing to take it down and not rethinking it. it's really a cheap ploy. it does not empower women. and it's unfortunate that someone in their marketing team thinks that this is acceptable. you know, what, here's the thing, you know, we got the super bowl coming up here in a few days. and i remember the janet jackson episode and how much of a draw that got and how much criticism i got. i mean it literally you had the congressional investigation into a possible censorship. that means that dominic advertisers do look for the shock
8:41 am
value some times. but what value do find that this ad actually gives to society is a really shock. no at johnston, it's fantastic. we're talking about it, but i honestly, i cover a different viewpoint on it. yes. disrespectful of women. men and women have power over men for 11 good specific reason and that's our inability to control our sexual desire for them. there are corrupting young men, young men who are not being guided properly the right way. we have such a constant debate over men and women of equal equality and everything. this is just another step backwards for more men not to take women seriously. because a look we have we have boobs on on, on a, on an advertisement. we don't have control ourselves. i think it's a big, big bit insult to women because it's saying, hey, the only way we can leverage you is to show your bare chest and it's going to get attention. oh, i think it's shock value it. god is going to get a dentist talked about, but it's, it's just a real, it's progressing for nothing. but i don't know if it's going to get taught in the right way. i'll be honest with,
8:42 am
especially with letters of the right now with young men. i want to keep with you on the dominic because men post pictures themselves all the time without shirts on in the gym and they think nothing of it. in fact, shirts and skins. we all know as a common phrase in sports for pick up games. as you know, as those that want to empower women and, and want to respect women. do you think modesty has now lost any place in 2022 side a society? or is it outdated? is this going to become the norm? as we talk about things like gender, fluid, and gender neutral, modesty is long gone when to one is wanting in 2021 trip people to lose their jobs and dominate only fast. modesty is gone. when you turn on your social media and a woman thinks of the better, the best way for to want to branding yourself, which i'm a 100 percent capitalist. go ahead, you know, make your money how you got to make it was just a shot for sexuality to make herself stand out. yeah. you know we're modesty is gone. we have no self respect guys. when we pull shirtless pictures of which i'm actually guilty of, we do it because it's male competition. we know that the women aren't going to go. oh, look, he's shirtless. so we know that we don't get women's attention. that way it's an
8:43 am
alpha thing. we want to dominate, but this is, there's no mask anymore. we're, we're distasteful. and yet i have one of the most modest weather that i've ever met reese on with me today. and that's why i want to have you also talk about this other controversy because they actually have a lot to do with each other and accomplish performer adel. she's coming under fire for her accepted speech at the brit awards upon winning artist of the year here. let's take a to listen. i really love being a woman to being a female. i mean, dallas being centered at a turban. i had never heard this term before. they trans exclusionary radical feminist. and they are called their calls to get rid of the best actress of the oscars. best female vocal at the grammys. are we seeing and 2022, a reversal of feminism. opening the door of like what we saw in pennsylvania swim team for men to dominate in arenas which women have worked and continue to work
8:44 am
hard to compete in scotty. hello from the other side of crazy. we have officially crossed over into a whole new i'm an, an for a frontier we've never even explored before. and it's unacceptable. what we're doing is basically saying that it's more important to address a person based on how they choose to identify versus their chromosomes. and their hormones, and if we stick to the science of chromosome and hormones will be in a safe place, one dells that is i love being a woman and i am proud of back. well guess why? because now that they opened it up to the category for best artist to all women, to all genders. she's now competing against quadruple the number of artists for a category that she, you know, deserves consideration for. and she's saying that not just for her, but for the other women, artist, why? because right now we're trying to eradicate this idea of what a woman is this notion of gender. and it really is interesting. we really need to focus on who benefits from that, who does the search?
8:45 am
because after, at the end of the day there are women and there are men. and there are people that sometimes have mutations in their chromosomes or differences in distinctions in there. you know their hormones, but that's a very, very small percentage of the population. and yes, we can make sure that we carried or to and address the needs of those populations where people were dealing with that. but that's not what we're dealing with here. the people on line, or the backlash against adult, or the people suffering with the gender issues that they're facing from their, their genetic issues. these are people who are just trying to push an agenda. it's unhealthy and it's i'm say, and then to go back to the a d this point they ought to be ashamed of their self because they're trying to wrap their message with being able to show women's breast, engender positivity. it's growing the stone and hiding their hand. this isn't about ginger, gender positivity. you can show the breast of women in the sports brought and show that it accommodates 46 women. this is purely just shocked out. as for a dell, i'm so proud of her for standing up herself and other women should continue to push
8:46 am
back well and dominic from a male perspective, can a feminist come on there and actually say, listen, i want to quality at the same time. i also want priority or i want separation in certain categories. it can, can women ask for both things and in today's society, make it to another one. i have no desire to do it as a woman, so i'm not going to embrace my gender. i love it. i have no idea why this is such a big issue. i women should be women and the more more focus we give on women and let them actually flourish. instead of competing with men or men trying to be with women, maybe we'd be better off as both genders who are able to function better with each other. i don't know, i, i think my, are my thinking is archaic at this point. but is it really, i mean, you, obviously it's kind of echoing exactly what race are races obviously, and right. exactly. right. so why is it a bit into our voices? i agree with both of you as our voice is more dominant, but we're maybe not the loudest in the room currently cuz we're seeing all of these different initiatives as you said, welcome to this other side of crazy taking priority in society right now dominic,
8:47 am
i mean maybe we should, we be louder and pushing back on it. no, you're not. you're going to be notified if you do it. you know what? there's a great saying, it's all your hard to be. it's hard to be focused. if you're confused, i honestly think right. you've got to slow this very tiny minute population that is demanding for an equality that is there. it doesn't exist. nobody's denying human rights. but honestly, i think just like everything else, the powers that be the politicians, whoever's doing this, you have to create a problem in order to have a solution. so what better way to keep people confused, not knowing which direction to turn to, and then you're gonna have somebody walk up and say, i have the solution, all your problems and it's, there's the door open are you there? well, the good news, if both of you on i'm not confused, i appreciate both of you for coming on. now when we come back, is it 8 or an incentive? we have talked about president biden's plan to use cohen dollars to provide free crack pipes for the city of l. a. has even more of goodies for those who are homeless, including free netflix today, amazon. i'm available on their free phone. of course,
8:48 am
a question that we often ask on the show, what is going on in california? ah, algorithms and neural networks have been following us everywhere. we look online because our relationships are what matters most to us. that's how we find meeting and how we make sense of our place in the world. what silicon valley see, don't mention in that slick presentations. however, all the ghost workers who train the software humans are involved in every step of the process. when you're using anything online, what we're sold as this miracle of automation behind your screen is a valuable workforce that feeds algorithms for next to nothing. on a very good day, i could do $5.00 now. at a really bad day, i could do $0.10. now,
8:49 am
these workers are invisible by design. it's about labor costs, but it's also about creating layers of lessening responsibility between those who solicit this kind of work and need it. and those who do it. i'm actually either financial survival guide, stacy, let's learn about be allowed. let's say i'm a true, i can agree. i'm grief on face of the fight. wall street broad, thank you for helping with joy. that's right. fell out it will dest slavery? ah, dana los angeles, known for its homeless population, might be in for a change. the homelessness is not only a nuisance,
8:50 am
but can be dangerous to the helmet as well as they're housed and neighbors. this is especially true when it comes to uncontrolled fires, started in homeless camps and posing a danger to everyone. now, group of al a residence is taking action about these dangerous and sometimes fatal fires. the issue is also peggy, other cities are to correspond on such a sweet as in venice beach. with more all, there's been a muscle clean up here in venice. resident say they're simply fed up with the encampments along this boardwalk. and now some residents say they're threatening to sue the city for millions, siding dangerous fires from these encampments. venice beach is a tourist hotspot. businesses are always busy, and real estate isn't cheap. but while the city itself thrive is financially homeless, have also been known to surround the area and is quite the los angeles share of heading a massive cleanup on the boardwalk and getting some homeless to pack up and leave some residency. it's not enough. according to the venice stakeholders association,
8:51 am
while some 200 people had been cleared out since the summer, at least 70 people are so camping out over night. and these encampments are reportedly causing fires that are left unattended. one fire that came from a tent destroyed a vacant 2 story building. last january. it took $116.00 firefighters roughly 2 hours to put it out. and now the association says if the safety of locals isn't protected, they will sue l. a. county for millions. in 2020, the los angeles homeless services authority reported nearly 2000 homeless in venice alone. homeless encampments in portland, also causing fires, which have residence. they are concerned, some saying they fear for their safety. at the end of january, 1, president looked outside her window only to see a fire from a nearby encampment. there had been almost 2000 homeless camp fires in the last year. it resulted in 2 deaths while leaving others injured. and in san francisco, the homeless issue there is only worsening problem with this state is we've allowed too much of that to persist,
8:52 am
particularly as it relates to our single adult chronic homeless governor. given you some meeting with housing officials in santa clara county, which has received $22000000.00 from the state to address homelessness, with 3 additional 1000000 from a county bond measure. officials plan to begin construction for housing, the homeless, but newsome hamper hose spending another to 1000000000 for homelessness on top of last year's 12000000000. so is the money helping some homeless in northern california have admitted it's easy to be homeless with programs providing food stamps, phones, and even amazon prime. some claimed they have no incentive to find work. now the eli sheriff elissia nueva is criticizing newsome's budget proposals, as the homeless issue only continues to worsen as more taxpayer dollars are being spent. reporting for news use use and hospice r t. for more on that. who welcome renee kennedy, who is an attorney and candidate for congress in california's 26 district. thanks for joining me. rhonda. i,
8:53 am
thanks for having me. probably one of the main reasons why you are running is because you see what's happening in your beautiful city. and plaintiffs are saying that the nearby homeless encampment is responsible for the garbage to control trouble fires on the boardwalk. so by suing the city to clear the 70 more people remaining there, will this in do anything to actually tackle the crisis for anyone except the residents who live on venice beach? absolutely not. is just going to help the people on venice beach and i don't know if you've ever been down to venice beach, but it's very liberal down there. so it's amazing that you know, the same policies that liberals have been voting for in california time and time again now that it's spilling onto their neighborhoods. now they want to do something about it. now they're saying it's a problem and it's not, it's not gonna change. it's not gonna change until we, we change the policies and we start changing our elected officials. and finally, give gavin use them the boot. it was just amazing watching him talk about the
8:54 am
problem homelessness when he created half of it. well, and that is what i think people are scratching their heads, especially california right now because this is not just a new problem that has just sprung up. this has been years and years and years decades almost in the making. but residents are worried about seeming heartless, but just leaving the homeless camps in place and letting the camps faster and burn can't be the only alternative to criminalizing and imprisoning the homeless. that leaves the 3rd option, government help other people see that as an abuse of tax dollars. how do you stand? well, it's throwing money out, it's not gonna help. i mean, it's just gonna treat why people have an incentive to work. i can see jobs program, help them find a job, give them opportunities to get on their feet. don't just throw money at them is day . you know, you can stay home as long as your whole list. you're going to get the benefit. of course they're going to continue to be homeless, and i like to ask how many of those people that are collect benefits are really homeless, or are they sitting at home, living with a friend and just collecting all these benefits?
8:55 am
well, and that's, i think it's all about accountability right now. have been lacking on multiple tears and multiple cities. and critics to say, these kinds of handouts, discouraged, hard work, like you mentioned in this drive to success. one homeless man. this is interesting . you spoke to the author of san francisco, microshare board. the city makes it easy. being homeless, take a listen to him. when you said the service to please people to be homeless with literally. yeah, i guess from general systems or would you? i was on hard to get phone call grow. you wanted food stamps and 620 bucks. yeah. well, we did about why wouldn't i do you know, free money to do this right now. it is literally by choice. literally by choice. like, why would i want to pay rent? i'm not do i got a cell phone that i have amazon prime and netflix on. okay. you hear that rhonda?
8:56 am
i'm sorry that makes me angry and i don't even live in l. a. what, what are your thoughts? she makes it makes me extremely angry and then you think about it. i mean $820.00 a month. i mean, he's living on the streets and he can get for free a $120.00 a month. that's. that's just no incentive at all. i mean, they should cut them off. ok, you can. we'll give you a job. program will help you find a job. you'll get your $820.00 a month, but after so much time you're cut off. it's just, it's just busted. and gavin newsom and the democrats in sacramento, you're just poor out just waste money while the middle class is leaving california because we can't afford to live here. but they sure do make it easy for homeless people to live here so they can guarantee their votes. okay, so keep talking about these jobs programs. what are you talking about? where could, cuz a lot of these obviously can't pass background checks that you obviously have to have is that address in order to apply for a job? how do you get around some of those changes in order to make people have to work? how do you put accountability into place?
8:57 am
well, there are organizations who actually should be getting more money that help the homeless. they help the homeless buy. they give them a place to shower, to change the help with the resumes, but these are non profit organization. these are government run, but the help homeless people actually can't clean themselves up. they have donated clothes so they can go get an interview to have addresses be used. so there should be more leaning on non profit and other organizations that actually interested in not just giving handouts but actually helping people better themselves. and i think that's where the money should go into more programs like that. or once again, it comes down to accountability and run. i appreciate you running for office to continue to have this conversation. okay, well that's all the time we have a day show, but let's continue this conversation. so follow me on twitter at study and he's, he's the hash tag team and v 8. and for this show and more in all the great programming that we have here at our to american, our te, tell load the portable dot tv app for apple or android device. it's free,
