a political analyst from the neighboring democratic republic of congo, feels russia's diplomatic push in africa. could win over support. you'll see the continental people on their social media and new deals. when you see how people are really thinking that it's a very good opportunity for the african not only for call may be like a very, very positive sign for the russia come come back in africa doing something. so it's also because of the, the context in which we are going through the most of the country future. for example, in country lately, the mccracken scholars kristin, a big issue of security is really giving hope to people take on the aspect more in terms of security and also got on tea for example, leadership and also in terms of, you know, being un like un, they have more positive disorder in terms with this affordable russia. so it's

12:06 pm
typically been used as pretext for the u. s. and his european allies to swoop in within i, on africa's natural resources. and to give you an idea, just how much the west considers africa as it's turf to these collusion of global competitors. lateral has previously spoken of telling exchanges between himself and both his french counterpart, former foreign affairs minister, jacques eviler, to the young. and he, you chief diplomat, joseph burrell, missouri. miguel, my dear colleague john ye, luxury young as well as joseph burrell. in september 2021, told me directly that russia had nothing to do in africa. neither by state means nor by private means. because africa is an area of interest of the e g u, and from the super zimmer, the problem for the west is that it is bent years pratt, falling all around africa and african seem to be getting a little bit tired of it. ross was leading an e u security mission the to cuba task force in the hell region of africa since 2020

. but it was kicked out earlier this year after it failed so badly at stabilizing the country that the missions host country malley underwent to cruise. clearly a resounding success for the showcase of what he a european union military alliance could achieve, which is an objective that has long been voiced by french president, a mentor at my home. molly has since turned to increased cooperation with russia on the security front. and it's a trend that we're seeing all across africa as western countries failed to deliver . and washington is reacted, and it's typically subtle fashion to its loss of influence by both threatening and trying to bribe african countries at the same time, the countering malign russian activities in africa act introduced in congress back in march. target's african governance officials and businesses doing business with russia. a qualifies such dealings as manipulation and exploitation of africans.

so the lot leg countering russian influence in europe and eurasia act of 2017. that led to the demise of the german russian gas project. nordstrom, to and from which we're all suffering here in europe now as citizens scramble for energy at high prices. it also sounds a lot like the countering america's adversaries through sanctions act, targeting iran, russia, north korea. and you know, all of this legislation effectively just deters other nations from dealing with americas geopolitical competitors and no doubt that by design. at the same time, the g 7 group of western allied nations pledged a $600000000000.00 plan for africa and latin america last month. so what do you think the odds are that the west will allow all countries to both take that money and also to do business with russia and china?
12:09 pm
it really does seem like an effort to compete with china's belton road initiative in the same regions. but well, to day late and a dollar short, it already smacked of desperate attempts to keep africa squarely in the western sphere of influence. as growing multiplicity opens up their options. russian energy giant gas problem has a nice, it's to take offline. one of the turbines that help pump gas through the nord stream, one pipeline, to germany, the company said it was for routine maintenance. that means starting from wednesday, the already restricted gas flow to europe will be cut by another. almost 50 percent they spent caused an immediate spike in prices passing the a benchmark of $1800.00 per cubic meter to discuss the implications of that. we welcome ortiz, racial 11th into these junior high the ritual. yeah, pretty sizable. cut a night, but take us through the details if you would. yeah. we know this pipeline was
12:10 pm
already down to 40 percent capacity and of course these cuts come just days after the pipeline went back online following routine maintenance. now guys from is saying that they're going to have to take another turbine down. they say that it's due to technical difficulties and the need for even more maintenance. and we've seen really just this ongoing saga involving the nord stream one where gas problem is also saying that they still have not received back that turbine, that they've been waiting on, which was sent off to canada and then held up due to a lot of back and forth over whether or not canada was even able to really lease it because of course the west has so many sanctions on russia that that turbine gotten to the crosshairs will now gas promise saying they did receive some documents on its return. however, those documents lead to even more questions and answers here. so there still is a lot up in the air regarding this very vital pipeline that europe still continues
12:11 pm
to rely on. even the head of this news, the general mood in europe regarding energy, where it's coming from was far from boy in to it is, it is very intense right now. and, you know, you see this growing crisis, we've seen these skyrocketing energy prices that only continue to sore. and yet the response from top leaders in europe has not been to lead to any sort of meaningful answers. so far the european commission is now saying it expects countries with a block to simply cut their consumption of natural gas next month by 15 percent. now reports are saying that member states are already speaking out and asking for exemptions, saying that that simply is not a possibility. and when it comes to the real world, impact of those skyrocketing energy prices, we see that everywhere from the homes that are seeing those large bills to also the production germany specifically saw a survey of industrial companies and nearly 20 percent of them so that they were
12:12 pm
already pulling back on production due to the fact that they simply could not afford it. now, surely, there are a lot of people in europe who are thinking that they just can't go forward like this, but the prime minister of hungry is the one who's actually speaking out. here's what he had to say about the situation in the war. the western strategy is based on 4 conditions. the 1st is, the ukraine is not alone, and it needs anglo saxon instructors for the country to win the war with russia using nato weapons. the 2nd is sanctions which should weaken russia. the 3rd is the aftermath of sanctions, which we should have handled, but russia could not. the 4th element is peace that we could have built. instead, we are sitting in a car that has punctures in all 4 tires. it is absolutely clear that the war cannot be won this way. so there is still a lot up in the air here, especially when it comes to looking at how this latest cut to the north stream one
12:13 pm
pipeline is going to affect the overall supply. and of course, how europe is going to respond to it yet, and that could be something on winds to rachel, thanks very much for taking story on ortiz richard levins thinking now western states sir, finding their citizens unites across the atlantic, but perhaps not in favor of it what the governments would like them to say that's as canadian farmers have gathered an ottawa in solidarity with their dutch colleagues protesting noodles, affecting their livelihoods. the hundreds gathered near the dutch embassy and also want to voice their concerns by dumpster dumb plans and cuts form emissions by 50 percent. they say it will directly affect production potential, more damage all already shaky financial situation for farmers. canadians dealing with the new burden of russian fertilizer taxes chunk, no farmers,
12:14 pm
no food outside the embassy. earlier a dutch farmers repeated the well known canadian protest approached the freedom con boy by blocking highways with tractors in the netherlands. let's cross live night to ryan co slide from the ontario bean growers association in canada. it's good to have you in the program. just 1st of all the things that we're witnessing now do you expect the protest in canada to become larger? yeah, i think certainly as we start to examine further the government's plans to have any kind of nitrogen or fertilizer reduction policies, there's going to be a lot of sentiment and worry about what that might mean for the bottom line of these producers. but at this point, i think there's been a lot of vague innuendos about what might be rolled out. so at this point, we're kind of waiting and consulting if we look at them or perhaps drastic dutch law of proposed the mission cuts that has seen intense opposition from european
12:15 pm
farmers. do you think canada, whatever stick to follow that approach and it's not perhaps where a lot of nervousness, frustration on indeed anger is coming from. yeah, i think that not only would it just be like hesitate in proceeding for production practice in ontario or canada, but at the same time too, i think people need to realize that we operate in the international markets all the time. and i think we could confidently say that the consumers would be starting to request that we operate under the same type of system that europe would be implementing so 90 to 8080, to 90 percent of our edible beans that we produce. and ontario are actually shipped overseas, including a large portion to europe. and so certainly it wouldn't be a different practice for us to start operating on or under a use system, whether it be this or any other kind of green practice. so i think we kind of anticipate changes to happen, but whether that's been dirt directed from the canadian government,
12:16 pm
or if it's from european consumers, yet to be seen. right. we mentioned the torrison russian fertilizers, ryan, how's not affecting the farmers that your group represents, have the hard for instance, to offset the hikes with a rise and prices for their customers. know at this point. yes. so there's a few issues here. we're really asking the government to take a look at any a tariff that was applied to fertilizers that were either purchased or ship prior to the war, even starting of march 2nd. and so there is a situation where many farmers in across ontario and canada, where they would be purchasing fertilizers or in advance in anticipation for their spring planting. still there are a number of farmers to still receive the tariff even though these purchases happen prior to the war. but i think at the same time too, we want the government to examine their tariff practice and really see if this is the impact that they wanted to have were the only g 7 country that's applying a tariff to fertilizer for their farmers. and certainly the impact is affecting
12:17 pm
them. many of the crops that we grow in ontario and across the country require fertilizer in order to get the maximum yields in the food that we would like to provide to canadians and across the world. beans are poor nitrogen fixated and so certainly we do need nitrogen fertilizer in order to maximize the yield that they have. but yeah, the impact is going to be great in their bottom line. and i worry not only the costs that they have to have for their planting, but also if they're reducing that fertilizer use, potentially there could be loss yield. and so that might not come out until the fall when they start harvesting. it's always good to speak to somebody who has their hands in the, in the saw in the dirt of where somebody on the front line in terms of the bigger topic of the, the green agenda as a whole. i think everybody will support issues to try and sustain the lumber, the hub, but the dramatic and drastic push for at the speed at which it's happening is not
12:18 pm
affecting the farming community in ontario, especially without you represent with the, with the beans. yeah. like, i think, as our farmers continue to examine what might impact him as a result of this screen push, we have courage consultation process as well as providing farmers the opportunity to meet the demand without having any kind of forced action. so i think we would find that our farmers are not in favor of having a force production in fertilizers, but would like to lead, feel dirty and listen to when they voice those concerns. right. at this point, i would say a mixed reactions to that. i think that there still could be more opportunity for us to be heard and really outlined different types of storage programs like the for n, a nutrient stewardship program, where we do see a reduction for leisure without having huge impacts in yields. what the for, are standing for right source of the fertilizer, the right rate, the right time in the right place. so i think that there are efficiencies that
12:19 pm
farmers could be implementing without having kind of a forced hand reaction from government. yeah, you can offer your thoughts in this any way you like, but we've been doing quite a lot of interviews with farmers and indeed officials as well in the eastern part of the world. and their point is that they're not quite sure why western governments are so focused on trying to adopt a green agenda and indeed attempts to punish russia as well. you could, unless seeing that both of those ideals right now, resulting in a lower yields higher prices is not something you are aware of and is concerning to yeah, i think i don't want to confuse 2 conversations. you're really like there is the topic of the terrorists and the tears that were applied that we believe are unfair when comparison to our other competitors, the united states and other g 7 nation. so certainly feel like we're at a cost disadvantage as a result of those tears. and we're not really seeing the impact on what it would
12:20 pm
have on, on russia, at this point. we're always going to need fertilizer. i think on the other side, when we talk about long term reductions of fertilizer. yeah. this is, this is something that i think are farmers are concerned about and, and a reduction in fertilizer i think needs to be examined further. and certainly there can be a reaction to this in the long term, but anything to do with crops and growing food, it's hard to pivot immediately on this stuff. and so i think that we want to make sure that as we try to move more towards a green agenda, that we're not putting farmers in the red. and that they're able to take advantage of this as a, as a benefit of, you know, a price, a price increase or, or know, taking advantage of the value that they add a result of going green. and not just simply, you know, having to have a forced reduction in yield as the farmers are forced to by government. so i think farmers like to do these things on their own and they will adapt, but not on the dime. yeah, especially i give

a voice to those who livelihoods are at stake. ryan, thanks for your time today. we do appreciate coming live in the pro ryan coast like canadian farmer on origin transel you. ah, okay, i want a turn the attention now to don bob from the latest on the conflict, there has been another deadly day for civilians are being killed by ukrainian artillery shelling, targeting the lu, ganske republic, according to local authorities. the officials also accuse ukraine of using us supplied high morris missiles systems to fire up the city of al shift. while the russian defense ministry say's its high precision missiles destroyed an ammunition store for the highmore systems, as well as american supplied howitzers. and in the done yet, the republic, russia lead forces are know, conducting a clean up operation at a local power station was saying in don bass, russia claims care forces may be plotting to carry out

piece of the puzzle emerged that man claimed he got the order from the notorious haste and grows of a bulgarian journalist had of the billing kat investigative news outlet known for its close ties to the british intelligence service. am i 6 o 4 drawers you've told me? well, he didn't actually explain anything to me. you just told me the name of the courier who would deliver the money by train. i'm overwhelmed with emotions. i'm furious with crystal grossey of. i trusted him as a man who would never betray me. i would never have thought there would be such a dark deal there. so, similarly transpired that grows of ties with western intelligence agencies go far beyond just using their data and sources for his investigative journalism. in fact, it looks like he is a vital part of his secret operation led by ukrainian intelligence and not just ukraine in, i mean, is there

a feeling that ukraine was not the only one behind this operation group? obviously, the operation itself was carried out with the support of western and primarily british intelligence services. we know about group service involvement in m, i. 6, not only from statements in general, ukrainian intelligence has recently ceased to hide its ties with the intelligence services of nato countries. trying to take a place closer to their masters in washington and london. the long shadow of kids, european partners, was felt all throughout that months. long communications. why are we doing this? so the next time guys like you could come to us and he'll, he'll the same mission. it's only possible if you confirmed that everything is okay that you came and received the reward you were promised by our governments. this amount of money isn't much for our governments, plus our european partners will agree to this. the, you repeat partners were aware of another condition of the deal, a pot for money. keith also promised pilots and their families, citizenship,
