oh, it comes to attitude and engagement equals the trail. when so many find themselves worlds apart, we choose to look for common ground. oh, moscow blames key halves troops for the shelling of a detention facility. and the done yet is the people's republic killing 53 ukrainian prisoners of war. as the u. s. meets the terms of recession, the white house tries to put on a brave face, claiming the economy is not actually struggling with plus don't play with fire. that's the warning from china's president. as the u. s. prepares to send its highest ranking, delegation to taiwan in 25 years with
10:01 am
just after 5 pm here in moscow. and you're watching r t international. i'm donald quarter. welcome to the program. now to our top story, 53 ukranian prisoners of war have been killed and 75 wounded in the showing of a pre trial detention facility in the done yet. people's republic. moscow has accused key of troops of intentionally targeting the site, just to warning the following images are graphic and you may find them disturbing. russia says the ukrainian military used american supplied high marks rocket launchers to bombard the dynamics facility. 8 of its employees were also wounded in the attack, rushes defense ministry says key of wants to deter more of its soldiers from turning themselves in. was reckless vocalized rentals lost a large number of ukrainian soldiers are laying down their weapons, as they know about the humane treatment of military prisoners by russia. this outrageous provocation was aimed at intimidating ukrainian soldiers and preventing them from surrendering while i have just returned from the detention facility in
10:02 am
the un. i've got here just outside of the city of the med scans, i witnessed some truly a horrifying scenes charge a bodies, a barrett completely destroyed by artillery a shelley. now officials of the next people's republic showed us some shell fragments and they claim they belong to an american supplies our high mars artillery system. and the strike occurred just after 2 o'clock in the morning as all prisoners have been asleep at that simons. and many of them were killed while there were sleeping us. some of them us, some of the bodies, all the prisoners that i witness had been burned beyond recognition. ha, now, according to a local officials. so once again, they're saying that the ukraine, you exactly where they were shooting, you know, nathan, yet ukrainian authorities insisted on using this place of detention. it was
10:03 am
discussed previously, so they knew perfectly well where the prisoners were being held and that's how they took the lives of their own soldiers. was the wilco gantski you in the blue, the ukranian prisoners of war began to talk about the crimes they had committed on the orders of the ukrainian authorities. and after that, they were attacked here. kiev took these actions to gag those soldiers who began to talk about what was actually happening here in don bass. now, the prisoners saw for war that were a dancer facility belongs to belong to the various branches of the crate, an army. some of them belong to nationalism, battalions, some of them were marines and others as well. and just recently interviews were that some of those as of battalion nation has began as surfacing. i hear in done ask and they gave their own witness accounts all fall war crimes committed by them against the people of a don boss, ukraine. however, officials in ukraine are denying that had anything to do with this strike against
10:04 am
the detention the facility claiming its sole or russian provocation. ukraine are also saying that they follow the rule of law, the rule of international humanitarian law and they never targets us civilians or prisoners of war. however, the reality on the ground is clearly different as the netscape being shelled on a daily basis. and in the last week alone, at least a civilians had been killed and 47 wounded internet people's republic. former us marine and geo political analysts, john mark doogan said that russia will be blamed for the attack. july july 15th, i was in touch with an american journalist who happened to contact me and she kept pressing me for the location of the prison where the p o w were being held. and i explicitly told her that i was not allowed to provide any that information. i think we need to start investigating where this information came
10:05 am
from, who wanted it, and what they were looking to accomplish. we already know that they are going to blame russia. they're going to say it was some false flag attack. i mean, this is, this is crazy. you know, i mean, donnette is filled with russian people and russian officers in and friendly forces and they're absolutely not going to strike their own people. he directly ordered the distribution of video material that showed the murder of russian prisoners of war that's according to a member of the ukrainian neo nazi as off battalion who served in the units press service. warding here the man is a prisoner of war and may have spoken under duress. oh, you're sure, before the 24th of february, even before the start of the war, we received an order from the president's office to create an information campaign with shock content on the brutal murders of russian prisoners of war. when the war
10:06 am
started, we started monitoring, ukrainian media and information field, and we noticed that these videos began to appear. i think these instructions were not only given to us, but also to other military units or organizations. as i understand this information campaign was created to provoke and say war movements in russia. but this campaign caused a negative reaction worldwide because these are war crimes later, the order to suspend the campaign was given. i don't know who was specifically involved in this in our unit, but the videos as i understand were collected. and i know for sure that all the video materials, all the flash drives and hard drives were destroyed upon leaving as offs, towel, and pull me off for a boot. chun from his cut, the beginning of april. at some point we were accompanied by as of faces. we went to the north of boucher where we had to distribute medicines. at some point we even stopped by the hanger where we had to hand over a box of medicines for the as of unit. when we were in this hanger, we saw literally 30 meters away from as of a caused drive,
10:07 am
of which there were russian soldiers within us to get out of the hang of fast than i had schultz fired at russian prisoners of war. i saw how these prisoners of war was shut, the lower extremities. in fact, it was the 1st war crime than i personally saw. as soon as we saw this, we were asked to immediately pack how things and leave. it was very fast. when i was returning to the car from the passenger seat to leave, i had someone say, officer officer in russian. a more of the offices he once was immediately shelton, the head. in fact, the mom was executed. what good as i left the hanger, i saw this execution you beveled. in other news, the united nations has lashed out at poland, unequal treatment of refugees from countries other than ukraine. a top un rights human rights expert pointed out that warsaw is double standards approach had prompted a sense of discrimination even for those that have fled the same war. although all were accepted for entry into poland and have received assistance from the state,
10:08 am
the 3rd country nationals are not protected under the same legal framework. the one's official comment came at the end of his official visit to poland. bella luce and the border area between those 2 countries. he called on polish authorities to stop locking up migrants near the bala, russian border and put an end to the very different treatment of ukrainian and non ukrainian refugees. its comes 2 days after the same criticism was leveled against sloppier over report by amnesty international, exposing the country's mis treatment and even a legit torture of migrants coming from the sellers. but to get more on the story now we're going to cross live to dan cove, all of a human and labor rights lawyer. thanks a lot for joining us on the program. dan, thanks for having me. the 1st question is about amnesty international and now the united nations and their concerns over the discrimination of non ukrainian refugees . and you countries, do you think there's going to be any positive changes as a result of these public concerns? i tend to doubt it. i think that, you know,
10:09 am
we've seen this since the beginning of the conflict. you member the video of people trying to get onto a train imogen trying to get onto a train and they kept african immigrants all to let the ukrainians on. i mean, this is, you know, the product, i think of racism that deeply ingrained in these european societies. and it's hard for me to imagine that some criticism by the un or amnesty international is going to alter that. poland is known for its conservative right wing policies and numerous scandals concerning minority rights abuses. does it look like brussels is paying enough attention to what's happening there? i think not. i mean, poland tends to get a pass, i think, because it is so staunchly pro western an anti russian ha, which you know, suits the desires of western europe. and the u. s. just fine. and so they tend to
10:10 am
turn a blind eye to, to these sorts of things. well, the migration crisis, it's been on the use agenda since at least 2015. so could it be that europeans are simply exhausted of playing along with refugee friendly policies of some countries? well, that's probably true. so certainly i think a, that's a good explanation. but i think we have to also acknowledge the fact that most of the refugees that are coming into europe are from conflicts that were created by europe in the united states, right? by nato operations in places like libya and iraq and afghanistan. you know, and i would say if you're a doesn't want wreck the, geez, they should stop engaging in wars that create refugees. and of course, even in ukraine itself, nato bears
10:11 am
a huge responsibility for the conflict beginning, you know, they just agreed not to admit ukraine into nato. maybe this never would have happened. even the pope has said that, onto occasion that perhaps nato in, you know, a provoked or so again, i think, yes, i understand there's a certain weariness about immigration in europe. but i think again, the sad truth is they are reaping the fruits of the trees. they, of course, refugees from ukraine are obviously preferred. it looks like by a lot of you members states as opposed to those from the middle east or from northern africa. but even some ukrainian refugees were also told to return home from a number of countries. what do you, what do you think that says about the use migrant policy? yeah, again, i think it says that they're pretty anti migrant at this point. and i think we've
10:12 am
seen that over time. and again, we've certainly seen it in the case of people trying to come from lydia on these boats that are turn back people been allowed to simply die in waters headed towards europe. so i think. busy this is part and parcel very anti immigrant sentiment in europe again though, we have to acknowledge that this crisis is large. you've been brought on by europe itself. all right, human human and labor rights lawyer. den kovachick always a pleasure having you on the program. thank you. my pleasure. now the u. s. economy is now in recession. that's according to the latest statistical data which shows the countries gdp declining for a 2nd consecutive quarter this year. but the biden administration is in no rush to admit the economic downturn or accept responsibility for most economists. and most
10:13 am
americans have a similar definition of recession, substantial job losses and mass layoffs. businesses shutting down private sector activities, slowing considerably. family budgets under immense strain in some a broad based weakening of our economy. that is not what we're seeing right now. when you look at the economy. the u. s. economy shrank once again in the past 3 months unofficially, signaling the start of a recession. i mean, that's simply how people define recession. if you look at the data, the gross domestic product of the united states shrank. and an annualized rate of point 9 percent in the past 3 months, after having decreased by an annualized rate of 1.6 percent in the previous court, that's 2 consecutive quarters of decreasing gdp in the united states. that moves
10:14 am
that the united states, the world largest economy as entered a recession. however, high officials in the united states are reassuring us. that is not the case. here's what they said. that doesn't sound like research should be, i don't, i do not think the u. s. is currently in a recession, even if that number is negative, we are not in a recession. now, i will say that the textbook definition of recession is not, is not too negative quarters of g d p. the bike administration is reassuring us that everything is fine. as you heard the secretary of the treasury, janet yolanda she is saying that this isn't a recession. this is quote, a transition in which rose is slowing. a transition in which road is slowing. she says, not a recession now. law, this is a similar thing in response to the issue of inflation. inflation in united states is that a 40 year high and we've been reassured by us officials. this is simply
10:15 am
a matter of transition. however, the inflation has continued, it has continued to be an issue, it's not simply a temporary issue of transition, it's continuing to go on. now at this point, in response to this issue, inflation, we have the biden administration spending billions of dollars with a law that they call the inflation reduction act of 2022. this is how americans responded to this deal. democrats just unveiled the inflation reduction act. some one, please tell dems that tanking the economy with tax hikes and bad policy is a crappy way to tackle inflation. only the government could propose a bill to increase spending and call it the inflation reduction act. remember, they always name the bills, the opposite of what they actually mean in any other business. this would constitute fraud and false advertising. so to combat inflation, the government is about to approve $750000000000.00 in new spending and calling it the inflation reduction act. spoiler alert, democrats,
10:16 am
new spending bill that they're calling the inflation reduction act will only increase inflation. now they saw a prices for just about everything are squeezing america's working families, as they're struggling to pay their bills, pay for necessities, and keep the households running amid the rising cost. at this point, we've seen the u. s. stock market tank, the s and p 500 is down by 15 percent. home sales have slipped this year and consumer confidence is low. many are looking on and wondering if this could be yet another nail in the coffin of the by the administration. following biden's speech in which he said he did not feel the recession in the united states. the definition of recession was reportedly edited. more than 40 times on wikipedia in less than 24 hours, the website later banned users from applying any changes to the page referring to the previous edits as vandalism. wikipedia also warned that the current information
10:17 am
may be on reliable due to the ongoing events. investment manager, mich fair stain, says it's impossible to expect the solution from the same u. s. officials responsible for the current crisis. janet yolanda has been consistently wrong when she was the chairman of the fed and she was on the board in the fed. now as a treasury secretary, the root causes of the problem are too much debt too much credit to much leverage in too much money printing for 2 decades. coming. bite them. i think the recession started long before this gdp medic, negative g d p for. so, you know, if they want to put lipstick on a pig, it's never going to turn into a super model, a recession. we're in a recession, we've been in a recession, they can lie as much as they want. it wouldn't be the 1st time. so i don't know why anybody shocked by that. inflation is that all time highs. you're not comparing like it like 980 s. if you use the same methodology, you calculate current inflation. now,
10:18 am
it's probably closer to 20 percent. what people are not talking about as well is the amount of debt that's been accrued during the negative interest rate years. so now you've got debt from the zombie corporations and there are a lot of them that can never be repaid. so you've got probably 6 trillion dollars worth of triple b and junk bonds that have to be refinance. so you will see a mass amount of defaults and bankruptcies that will cause the coming crisis. you know, she said, i think 2 years ago or 3 years ago will never see another crisis in a lifetime, right before me, she's been consistently, she's saying inflation is transitory. lation is transitory until 6 months ago. so why would you believe people that are consistently wrong? the problem is we're going to the same people who create the problems for a solution and they have no solution. and we have no leadership trying as president has warned,
10:19 am
the us to stop playing with fire over taiwan as washington prepares to send a highest rank delegation to the disputed island in 25 years. that's just by pages repeated statements that american involvement and china's domestic affairs is stoke intentions between the countries. meanwhile, taiwanese service men have taken part in annual military drill, simulating a foreign invasion as a, some us officials fear a potential armed conflict with china over taiwan. and at the same time, other american politicians are pushing for greater involvement in the region, suggesting the us delegation visit to taiwan must go ahead. r t racial blevins has the details. the united states appears to be moving forward with plans to send a delegation led by how speaker nancy pelosi to tie one next month despite a host of warnings from beijing that the move would be a red line for china. do we have repeatedly made it clear to america our stern position against us? how speaker nancy pelosi is potential visit to taiwan?
10:20 am
if the us insists on going its own way and challenging the red line of china, it will surely be met with forceful responses. all ensuing consequences are completely borne by the us. however, when it comes to red lines issued by other countries, washington has shown that it has no problem ignoring them. after all, that's why it refused to give russia any kind of guarantee that ukraine would not become a member of nato. despite the impact, the assurance could have had on ease intentions, but even by himself isn't fully on board with polos, his plan. and it appears that the higher the chance of conflicts, the more the hawks and washington support the trip. we cannot back down the face of the chinese threats if they think they can threaten us into merely not traveling to taiwan. it might in fact incite them and tempt them to go. the jungle or in taiwan is pelosi postpones or cancels the visit. it will be seen as the us climbed down in
10:21 am
the face of chinese indignation and protest and an affront to our friends in taiwan . as the speaker of the united states house of representatives, you should never have to ask a foreign dictatorship or the state department for permission to talk to america's friends and allies. so why is the u. s. considering this move now in the face of continued for us from beijing, while there have been increasing reports of the bible, ministration is concerned that china could be getting ready to move in and take taiwan in the coming months. the only problem, even the mainstream media reports have been for us to admit that us officials have no confirmation that china is actually planning such move. 6 however, there is now the fear that china could follow through on its threats and retaliate . if the u. s. proceeds with this plan to send a delegation to taiwan next month. and so the brinkman ship continues to mount threatening a major conflict between 2 nuclear powers as neither side shows any signs of backing down. former us marine and geopolitical analyst, bryan berlin,
10:22 am
says the so called containment of china has been a priority for the u. s. for decades, i think it is a provocation, a reckless and unnecessary provocation. the united states is trying to go to china into reacting or i should say, overreacting the window of opportunity for the united states to actually contain that control china. it's close that, you know, chinese military capabilities continue to grow year to year the united states continues to retreat from its gemini around the globe so that they're thinking, the thinking in washington is now or never. if you study u. s. foreign policy regarding china specifically, you see this goes back decades, this desperate desire to encircle and contain china when, when they say contain they're talking about controlling and dominating china. and
10:23 am
it was president biden himself who, who said most recently that china will not surpass the u. s on his watch. this has been u. s. foreign policy regarding china that stretches back to the under world war 2 french president. emanuel micron is being bombarded with criticism over his reception of the saudi arabian crown prince. in paris. critics are pointing out double standards towards sanctioned russia and as opposed to saudi arabia, which was seen as a french allied despite allegations of war crimes. access to oil and arm sales to saudi arabia, which makes the executive branch of power complicit in war crimes in yemen, of course, explains mister microns complacence towards m. b. s. in contrast to his position on ukraine, even if been salmon from saudi arabia has dirty or stained hands, he is nevertheless welcomed in france. as long as we can do business with this desperate, we don't care about the rest. who to choose between bin salman and vladimir putin?
10:24 am
russia, they are villains, saudi arabia, they aren't malicious villains. what does that mean? that's a state secret that comes amid the crown princess 1st trip to europe since to the 2018 scandal over the killing of journalist jamal to show g and the saudi consulate . in istanbul, a prominent human rights organization has urged the french government to investigate the prince on his legit role in the killing. mom had been so long was warmly welcomed in paris after a similar reception in greece. meanwhile, some critics have also pointed to frances own, a legit atrocities committed during the countries military intervention in molly mass graves had been reportedly uncovered recently in that country with some of the bodies showing signs of torture. the killings allegedly took place near the sight of a french army base which was withdrawn a few months ago. and last year the un publish to report on a deadly attack by
10:25 am
a french military plain. and molly, showing at least 1900 people at a wedding for its part, paris has denied it, forces targeted civilians in the african country. but to get more on these controversies, we're gonna cross live now to nickel markovich political analyst. hi there, nicola, thanks for joining us of the program. so you critics have lashed out at mac, ron, for willing saudi arabia while cutting down on time with russia. what do you take? what's your take on these, these developments? well, i'm quite happy that a lot of there's been a lot of criticism in france on these double standards, usually mainstream media don't go too much into that narrative. they would play down, i would say opponents to macro and such a situation. and we've heard a lot of concern a bit in mainstream media, but in alternative media media all across the political spectrum of people. a condensing is typically double standards. i mean, normally saudi arabia is the total opposite of what weapon standards are supposed to be. saudi arabia, the kingdom, is not
10:26 am
a democracy. there is no defense of freedom of religion, freedom of information for speech. so they were born and are being tortured and embassies. knowing this is supposed to be the typical enemy or the way, but all of a sudden because of saudi arabia, all these are the standards concerning what the west supposed to be. the disappear and saudi, and the saudi arabian prince is greeted india in paris with the french president and none, and none of the standards are discussing these discussions and people are running low. why are we supposed to be imposing sanctions on russia? because they're not in what's your standards, are we imposing sanctions on other countries in the world because they're not respecting what's in sanction. saudi arabia typically doesn't really respect practically any of them. why are we reading them? and there's been a lot of interest to them. frankly, this is a very unpopular meeting between a manual macro and haven't been tell me and, and there's been a lot of people saying what, what's behind this,
10:27 am
why the double standards? well, that's the next question i want to ask you. what do you think is behind the fact that francis so willing to deep in cooperation with saudi arabia, despite the fact that like the west is always pray preaching liberal democracy in these kinds of western values. we've constantly hear about for 1st of all, i think that this means that the with doesn't have any values anyway. trans typically shows that these values are shattering because it's, it's, there are double standards, these values applied to some countries. i'm not sure that this makes no sense, and i think a lot of people are trying to wonder if i mean they're not starting to wonder. they're pretty sure to hear that france doesn't have any of these values that it's supposed to defend the only reason. and this has been mentioned many times. and in a lot of the threat that we've been able to read this morning, that shows that francis doesn't care about the standards. all it is interested has been fact that saudi arabia is when the world's biggest federal export, or that saudi arabia has become frances. first, customer for weapons in arms and it's,
10:28 am
it's an economical situation. so standards don't have units and indication where whatever, what, whatever, it's all about the business and they say, and the only reason why there has been such an important i would say attention brought by a manual maximum to this meeting is because france needs energy. france wants to continue to so petrol and if there is a deal that can be brokered in the following days, weeks following this, that this meeting on energy or on, on, on weapons then within the mental macros. happy. and he couldn't care this, which political opponent is tortured, killed there for. if you can build a church, if you are attacked or criticized or more killed because every political opinion, you couldn't care this. what he wants is to continue exporting to saudi arabia and make a buck out of out of this and, and try to get some, some alternatives to importing energy because they did what can, europe is in a very bad situation looking desperately for a, for, for energy and an alternative to cheap and russian gas and petrol. well,
10:29 am
based on what looks like a saw and relations between you, countries and saudi arabia, what's our, what's your expectations for saudi arabia's role in europe and politics in the near future? do you think they're going to be further, we might say rehabilitated diplomatically, or they're going to try the west is going to try everything it can to re, anybody has sanctioned in the bad just to get that energy because of the tv show goes, winter's coming. so they're going to fight, but i think it's been quite interesting. we saw that joe biden tried this 2 weeks ago, the list and 2 weeks ago. and he has not been successful, and he is the leader of the west. and he told the saudis that he wanted more, more oil pumped out of saudi arabia for his friends in western europe. and apparently he did not get a positive response from home had been solved. and so i think the width is going to try a lot, but it seems that saudi arabia these past months has shown a more independent position. it is less maybe the lackey of the west than it has
10:30 am
been in the past. and this is quite interesting. so the west is going to be desperate, it will, i think, give anything it can to saudi arabia to try to get a bit more oil. i don't think this is going to change the stance annex and that's really something major is broken between, between the saudi arabia and the west. that could always happen. but i think it's going to, it seems that mohammed is trying to show a stronger position for tucker tougher position to the west than he has been in the past. so it's going to be very interesting to see because he knows that there's something that he may gain out of this. so we have to look at the ration chelsea and to find a way to come our political analysts nickel markovich. thanks a lot for joining us. on the program, always a pleasure. thank you. that's the news for this our see you later in just about 30 minutes with more news. ah, i.
