not only arms but intelligence, if the ukrainians will accept it. and it looks like if they're beginning to mount a, a more effective counter offensive. it appears as though they, they are. i know the ukrainians have been leary of providing a lot of information on their operational plans to take back certain regions and u. s. u s. intelligence seems to be providing that assistance and this is the only way they're going to be able to do their counter offensive is getting this kind of information. and the united states has techniques and ways of providing this information very rapidly, which allows now the ukrainians to make adjustments and then to strike more effectively where they believe they, they can make, make a difference in their,

in their overall plans. now this, this is something that is, is, can be blunted. i think the russians are seeing what's happening, that because of this counter offensive, it means that the united states and the allies are going to have to provide more and more offensive assistance with artillery and, and the means more, a long range, howitzers and, and tanks and other means of, of launching offenses in the future. and that, i think we're going to probably, and i think the russians see what's going on. they're going to make their own adjustments. there are probably 2 areas where they can, but the in the united states has a means of effectively providing this intelligence very rapidly. they, it, it began in the bosnian war where we had what,

what are called fusion centers. and the military intelligence people have have these and it is the they are able then to figure out within seconds based upon analysis, where the choke points really are and be able to make adjustments accordingly very, very rapidly. and this is the information they're providing to the ukrainians. and then as i say there are now because they still need to arm the ukrainians. and in addition to providing that information, it a counter offensive means that that arm shipment is gotta be sustained somehow. and we have in the united states and the allies are having increasing, trembles the ukrainians for themselves. don't have an infrastructure development for, for producing these kinds of weapons. they don't have the production. the united states has that kind of production, but it would have to go on

a war footing itself. and then ipso facto the, the united states is engaged from, from a far and this is, but i don't think we can sustain it. we're already seeing problems that are going to be occurring here in the very near future in terms of consistent flow of, of arms. and as i say, there are 2 probably at least 2 areas where the russians can take effective action . as it really does seem as though those and less wars always need and less weapon supplies. now i want to get into it a little bit more in terms of the information that is being shared back and forth here. because the in the officials that were quoted and that new york times report, they said that you crania and forces avoided sharing their military plans not to highlight weaknesses and discouraged, continued american support. so what kind of partnership is that?

well, i think they've made some necessary from their perspective, they've now made some they, they, they've probably have altered their, their approach in order to do a, a fact of counter offensive. you need the intelligence and this is what and i, it looks like the ukrainians have agreed to provide what those plans are. and then the information will flow in to the operators in, in ukraine and the commanders. again, these fusion centers are remarkable things say they, they were created primarily to assist the commanders in the field. when i, when i was at the defense department, we looked at the very same technologies to also provide assistance to the policy makers. so it can, so this type of information can be provided very rapidly, sometimes within seconds to not only the commanders,

but the policy. and it looks like there seems to be a greater flow of information as a result. they need that it the ukrainians. now need that information in order to conduct their counter offensive. otherwise, how do you do your planning? and because the ukrainians don't have an internal means of effective type of intelligence gathering in near real time in order to make the adjustments and to undertake the offences. so they, the united states obviously, is providing where those choke points are in russian, where russian forces are deployed and, and, and where to be able to put the greatest amount and concentrate the greatest amount of force in very little time. and that appears to be what is occurring here. now timing is truly everything here. former pentagon official,
