[000:00:00;00] a breaking news this, our 11 people are killed and another 15 wounded and a terrorist attack at a russian military base in the western vall, garad region. it was during a live fire exercise for soldiers training to pipe a new frame with china says if the economy is a driving force for global growth, while the countries the experience with taiwan, but is prepared to use force against anyone that intervenes bad ahead of the crucial communist party congress is due to define china strategy for the next 5 years. and a burkina faso confirmed this new transitional president who ousted a french back to leader. and a qu, we ask locals,
6:01 pm
what they think of parents is role in the african countries affairs. to france has been stealing from us for decades. we are losing money. people have been killed, france didn't bring anything to my country. it's a slavery with from moscow to the world. this is our international. i'm rachel blevins and these are the top stories this hour. we began with the latest as reports say, 11 people were killed and another 15 wounded and a terrorist attack. it occurred at a military training base in russia's western belgrade region near the ukrainian border. let's cross a live now to our teas igor, as your dog to get the details. now, igor, reports of this incident are just now emerging. so what is known for sure about
6:02 pm
what happened? well, apparently a group of unknown act as they opened fire, a bunch of people at a bunch of soldiers who volunteered to join russian forces here in the dumbass in ukraine. and well, apparently more than 10 people have perished in this tragedy and just short of 20 are wounded, at least 2 of the attackers reported to be killed in action as well. so again, this incident is being described as a terrorist attack, but again, it is unclear as to who ordered the hit as to who masterminded it if anybody did at all because other sources they believe that well the cause for the conflict, the cause for the fire was may be in the fact that the 2 groups of people, well there was a personal dispute between them and as 2 groups. they were heavily armed. they just, well, one of the groups opened fire at the other one again, details us cause as to what happened. but again, it happens against the backdrop of the russian military campaign here in the
6:03 pm
dumbass. and again, the region of belgrade as a whole, it is a very hot place right now. it is quite unsafe because again, it is a border region. the very town of bell garrett is considered to be a border town to and the ukrainian or well, the ukranian army has been well ordering attacks and has been shelling belgrade and the outskirts and the villages on the outskirts trying to deal as much damage to the to the infrastructure as they can. they shelled for instance, the border checkpoint. that is on the right on the border between ukraine and russia in that region. they shall, the very town of belgrade itself, targeting a well tut targeting and electricity facility targeting a thermal power plant. so well briefly last the briefly, yesterday, the town was left to briefly without electricity, at least some of the, some of the region. so again and ukrainians. they have been calling on terrorist
6:04 pm
attacks against russian volunteers against those who are being mobilized in this 1st wave of partial mobilization here in russia. they have repeatedly called on people to, for instance, fire or to throw most of cocktails at the draft offices. and so this her very incident, again, there's no indication that it is whatsoever connected to the, our, to the situation here to the war and the dumbass again, it could be a personal dispute. but still, the situation in the town of belgrade is very tense. and this is only adding fuels to the flames. anyway, i think they were just on our thinking for that day. and for more on this less cross a live now to former pentagon security policy analyst, michael maloof. now, micro, when we're looking at the possible motive for something like this, from the reports that we've seen, what do you think could be behind it? i mean, is it demoralization or sewing fear,
6:05 pm
or even discord within the russian armed forces? what's your take on this? well, it could be all of the above. it's because information is so preliminary, we don't have all the facts. all, all of those ideas that you just listed, the could be suspect. and i would imagine that because of the location, the proximity, so close to the ukrainian border, that there may be initiatives and efforts to do to demoralize those who have joined the armed forces in our and our training. it's, it's unfortunate that people, so many people were killed and but, but if, if i think this is something that we're going to have to watch carefully in terms of what the, whether this was instigated from outside or whether this was
6:06 pm
a personal vendetta of some sort between 22 opposing groups. but it does remind what, what happened in the past when we were in afghanistan, we had blue on green. is we call that or green or blue that net. in other words, you had afghan forces, actually firing on americans who were there to help. but in this case, it could be that you have some disgruntlement in the, in the ranks. and i think that there's going to have to be better screening of those who actually do join and are in a position to do something like this. especially when you're engaged in live fire, they should be under very strict conditions. and when there's life fire off more often than not, you have accidents, but in this case it looks like it was purposeful. and i think that this is something that it looks like also that mr. put in,
6:07 pm
wants to stand down the call up. so it within 2 weeks, so hopefully that these incidents will not recur. but this is, is, this is something is going to have to be looked at to find out what the origins are . and what perpetrated that is this something that's much greater than what we're seeing just in the training camps. does this represent an effort internally inside of russian itself for people to show our position and but again, it's just too early to tell. but when you have people, when you have troops firing on their own, so this is not good. right. and now, given what we know so far, it's being reported that the alleged terrorists were not russian. they were from a former soviet country with close ties with russia. some reports are saying their
6:08 pm
motive was based on ethnic tensions once you make of that given those dynamics that we know about so far. but again, you can't rule anything out. i've heard the same report that they were c i s, members. we don't know which, which c i s member. and again this is that quite conceivable that it could have been some ethnic tensions just within the camp. i would tend to think that that's more likely i don't think this was something orchestrated by the ukrainians, but i could be wrong again, we don't. we have very preliminary information. but as i said, it's just very unusual to have another group of folks from another country open fire like that. and i'm sure there was some i cannot rule out the possibility that you have ethnic tensions that,
6:09 pm
that exist even within the city. and we've seen that we've seen it with here, we've seen it with, with the back and the, and they, they still have their, their, their internal differences. and i would suspect that this is probably what it could have been. now when it comes to the impact of this internet could have, overall, you see it widely rubber rating with in the russian armed forces and you see it having a lasting effect. no, i don't see. it reverberated throughout the armed forces. i think if they can get to the bottom of this and control it rapidly that will minimize the any, any impact or any or any effort to dissuade people from joining. but again, they've got to get to the bottom of it already. it's world news us is really
6:10 pm
talking about it here. already is as an example of internal dissension and what have you. but it could be nothing more than internal to ethnic tensions. but again, we don't have all the facts. so this could become a, unless the, the m o, d get the ministry of defense gets to the bottom of it. this could become a propaganda tool for the west. so it's something that they're going to have to nip the bud as quickly as they can. and get to the base bottom of it and, and give them give the results of their prob, right. and i know we're only going off of the information that we know so far. but in your mind, is it possible to prevent such incidents maybe a better venting process for new recruits? how do you think that the process is going to be looking at there's going forward to try to prevent what just happened? well, what you just mentioned will certainly be one indication, and i mentioned it earlier. there's going to have to be better vetting. and you're going to have to,
6:11 pm
especially when you're getting cross ethnic groups coming in and . and given the fact that they have their own internal tensions, that's something that has to be probably looked at more closely in the recruitment process. if it was strictly just russians, then that that would make things easier. although i think that should be a very process as well. you just never know if you have someone who's going to be sneaking in and just for the purpose of sabotage, we saw this a lot with the afghan forces where, where they would join and then once in, then they would wreak havoc even among their own. so this is something that. ready clearly has to be considered when you're trying to do it, recruitment them and trying to bolster your armed forces. you just cannot afford
6:12 pm
to have this kind of activity from within. and so i think the authorities, there will definitely be looking at something like that. you can't escape it. right . and now finally, we appreciate your time. and do you think that this incident was somehow connected with the recent ukrainian artillery a tax on the russian border region? do you think there's more to this? anything is possible. i tend to doubt it. i think that i lean more toward the ethnic thing and as the cause, i think i don't know what would be the ultimate goal. what can they show a ukrainian intelligence link to this or to the people who were involved and who opened fire on the troops? again, we don't know those. we don't know who it was, hasn't been reported. and we don't know if they had any connections with ukrainian
6:13 pm
intelligence, we just don't know. and until we do that we'll have a we have to it's all conjecture. absolutely, and we will continue to follow this former pentagon security policy analysts, michael maloof. thank you so much for your time and insight. ok, rachel, thank you. and just a quick reminder for you about our breaking news story. 11 people were reportedly killed and 15 others wounded, and a terrorist attack on russia bo garad region near the ukrainian border. the attack occurred at a military base were soldiers were preparing to fight, and ukraine will bring you more updates as the program goes on. now, to the latest from the crane conflict in russia as her song region, which recently voted to join the country. the military has restored british armored vehicles that had apparently been used by ukrainian forces. they were identified as u. k issued husky infantry mobility vehicles,
6:14 pm
also in russia's western vulgar. our region, local authorities, ukrainian forces have shell of an oral supply depot, a storage tank with hit, causing a fire to abrupt but the situation is now reportedly under control. there have been several ukrainian attacks reported on the border region in recent days. the governor set a checkpoint, there was targeted on saturday, but that reportedly did not cause any casualties. meanwhile, air defense systems have reportedly been conducting roles in russia, southern crimea, region. these unverified images were captured by eye witnesses and sabbath stobel appearing to show missiles being launched from the outskirts of the city. that says, russia is defense ministry says kiev has lost and dozens of soldiers and a recently failed attempt to advance through russia's defences and new friends. northern harcourt region, near the russian border,
6:15 pm
ukrainian troops reportedly failed across a river. moscow's defense ministry says the russian air force and artillery fire struck the advancing ukrainian military units as they were using cars and pickup trucks to pass through the waterway. the ministry also claim that russian troops prevented an overnight attempt by kiev forces to make a river landing within the vicinity of zapper. oh, she nuclear power plant in south western russia. in other developments on the battlefield, this footage appears to show a russian comma kazi drone conducting a dive bombing on a cranium, air defense system. as you can see, the vehicles exploded and seemed to have completely burned up as a result of the strike. the u. s. has plus yet another aid packaged ukraine, this time worth $725000000.00. it includes munitions and military vehicles. meanwhile in ghana, stan
6:16 pm
a suspected isis recruiter who was captured by the taliban and could have been speaking under due wrath claims. he received funding from western powers and from ukraine. archie's ilya katrinka explains the war and ukraine is unique in so many ways. here's another reason for you. it's where you can find a american or european citizen fighting on the same side of the front line with jihadists together for one cause to get rid of the russians, right? islamist dogs, some are already there, like i'll show later. some could be on the way. thanks to who don't you the, did you get? my job was to recruit foreign isn't funds isis. activate ellison? we received funds from ukraine, spain in germany, and only one foreign to join the organization. we received $15000.00 from ukraine, $5000.00 euros from germany,
6:17 pm
and $1500.00 euro from spain. so here is allegedly splashing the cast to get parents on their side from as far as of gannon. stan, this was apparently a video confession of an isis affiliate recruiter recently arrested in kabul. ok, maybe the guy was under pressure, but if only that was the soul example of links between terrorist groups and ukraine . it was reported that earlier this year, around $450.00 militants from the syrian branch of all kinds traveled to ukraine to join key of forces. it must have been a while since you last heard about the free syrian army. well, fighters from the us back militia are apparently in ukraine to the militia, intertwined with ices, like evidence, has shown. here's how one syrian rebel earlier on said he was gearing up for new war. i promised the russian forces, waging aggression against the ukrainian people that i will not spare them. and i
6:18 pm
will make mountains of russian tanks and armour, which i will destroy as soon as i enter ukraine. and here's his new tweet from ukraine with a syrian opposition flag. how much do they earn? reportedly $1500.00 a month, who pays them? supposing the ukraine, who's bank rolling ukraine right now, the west, i'm not going to go on about taxpayers money too much, but you know what i mean? and yeah, some the hardest are now receiving cash out of the pockets of nato countries, which spend trillions of dollars on the fight on terror terrorists yesterday. but freedom fighters today, you know, the eagerness of such people to destroy anything russian certainly does nothing to dispel the theory that some ukrainian fighters have a radical ideology. but the parallels don't just and at a desire to shoot at russians it's, you know, those are still that it is obvious that the instigators for organizes and
6:19 pm
perpetrators of the terrorist attack on the crime in breach of the ukrainian social services. the. the key regime has long use terrorist tactics. this be used methods i increasingly reminiscent of ices and alcorda, no wonder the root causes behind the appearance of these structures. all the same. we've seen a hotel where journalists stayed destroyed. we've seen the crimean bridge car bombed. no wonder all cai does giving key of moral support by posting the count of russian losses. oh, well ah, china's top officials are set to define the country's future for the next 5 years when they sit down and beijing for the communist parties. 20th congress on sunday.
6:20 pm

lou burkina faso new transitional president has become the world's youngest leader. after being officially confirmed for the post army captain abraham tro or has been leading the country ever since he spear had at last month's crew to ask a more senior military commander who was backed by france, the former leader, lieutenant colonel paul henry de me back came to power after a qu, himself, back in january, the official who was educated in france has pledged to restore peace and democracy in burkina faso. however, since coming to power, he'd been accused of failing to deal with an islamic military insurgency. the western african region including burkina, faso and molly has been gripped by instability for years. back in 2014 france, the former colonial power in the area sent an expeditionary force to fight the
6:26 pm
islamic terrorists there. however, the mission has seen little progress and was recently scaled back following public backlash. molly ordered all french troops out of the country, and even accused paris of assisting the terrorist. we asked some locals and burkina faso, what they think about the french involvement in their country. the law, france has been stealing from us for decades. we are losing money. people have been killed, and franz is controlling our leaders. we are here today to support abraham trial, right, alida, he is the only guy who can free us from french occupation. since we have been working with france, we are still under developed. we are among the poorest countries of the world. we no longer need from we want to be like molly, like rwanda, france, for 60 years, even before i was born, france has been a mess. france didn't bring anything to my country. it's a slavery. that's the reason we say beat france. for a long time,
6:27 pm
our mom's sister's kids and ourselves, we are still slaves. we no longer need france now. it's russia or nothing. and the next step for him is to quickly move closer to russia to strengthen our defense, to come back and fight out enemies. we should work hard to provide food to the population because people are starving. he should not forget to chase france out of burkina. infamous american radio host, alex jones has been ordered to pay nearly $1000000000.00 for voicing. fake news about the 2012 shooting at sandy hook elementary school. but while the conspiracy theorist broadcast didn't actually lead to any desk, his legal case is now being compared to some events that did has already killed mop . it explains, it's commonly said that american liberties and where someone else's knows, begins,
6:28 pm
connecticut jury has just ruled that alex jones inflicted emotional trauma when he used his freedom of expression on his radio program. some people aren't buying it. it all stems from the sandy hook elementary school shooting on december 14th, 2012. that's when adam lanza, a 20 year old shooter killed 26 people on that day at the time alex jones thought that this shooting might have been a false flag. he said so on his program now he later retracted and even apologized to the victims, but the family members have now taken him to court for defamation. now this certainly isn't the 1st time alex jones has gone to court around this issue, but this time the pay out he's expected to give the family members is pretty high. i think it's the largest defamation verdict in u. s. history certainly on compensatory damages. jones is pretty pessimistic, but says he is planning an appeal. we can, we can, we can or 2 years appeal this, we're not going anywhere. nuclear world probably on the show before that
6:29 pm
unfortunately, is this really justice? well, who doesn't feel sympathy for the family, members of the victims of that hernandez shooting, but a $1000000000.00 to be paid out in damages simply for reporting. a conspiracy theory seems a bit harsh to manny, especially if you look at what per do pharma had to pay out in their lawsuit. this is a big pharma corporation manufacturer o b o. and then was accused of down playing the dangers of addictive medication, pushing doctors to over prescribe. there have been hundreds of thousands of opioid related deaths mats, in addition to the many who suffered joblessness, homelessness, and family breakdowns all from this epidemic of obesity. lloyd addiction, sweeping the united states, but produced pharma only had to pay $6000000.00. something certainly seems off when it comes to how human life is being measured in the united states these days. perhaps this isn't a case of good old american blind justice,
6:30 pm
but there is some political manipulation going on behind the scenes. caleb martin, r t. new york legal and media analyst ally and all says that criminalizing and weapon ising mis information is wrong. while the case of alex jones could set a dangerous precedent for more countries than just the u. s. this does not have legal precedent because this is a particular case involving these family members and alex jones, it doesn't have any lasting effect ah, regarding any other cord in the country. this is not an appellate court. this is not the supreme court, but what it does do is it sets a tone. it sets some potential for some exaggerations. if you listen to what people say, not just in the united states,
