9:30 pm
ations they declines. the outer easiest part is that the absolutely deny us any information. they say it's classified, they say that they're dealing with it themselves and then they organize these kinds of tories tour to the place of the sabbath. tasha inspiring join was to make some further episode to the conspiracy serious shooting some elephant into the room as we will understand. so trying to shield responsibility from those we're really comfortable off of these sabotage door. let's crush laughter. the man himself or the russian deputy ambassador to the un, dimitri polanski. now who's come in? we've just seen here on oxy. good afternoon, sir. very well. welcome to you. thank you for coming into the program here on our see. thank you. it's a, obviously, while we, we understand it was a closed session this morning. what, what can you tell us about the meeting that russia asked to conduct this is not the 1st time that we are using this issue and the security council. well, there was so once i think of almost half a year ago,
9:31 pm
they opened the roofing wherever we brought the new evidence of culpability of the united states and its officials in these sabotage ex uh, them. during these meeting, we are also proposed to vote on the draft resolution establishing international investigation line to the uh, into this uh act. but the majority of the members of the security council, 1st and foremost, our western colleagues they rejected. so these resolution, they obtained saying that they did not see any points of pressing the authorities of denmark, sweden, and to germany. uh, who are conducting their national investigations. and that was the expectation of the, of folding members of the security council. and nobody was against it. but these countries should expedite to their investigation and that they should of dates or members of the security council on all the findings. and then we should identify
9:32 pm
the way ahead. we agreed with these and then the nothing happens there. where only, you know, was some letters by these authorities saying that they allegedly keep us and keep us informed about the course of the investigation which is a lie. we distributed. so our correspondence with these countries, we sheila's trades. these found a couple of weeks ago. we raised this issue in the close consultations in the singular way that we did today, asking what some of the colleagues to press on these 3 countries to update the council. but what, what did we see in the meantime? in the meantime, we saw these absolutely outrageous situation when the authorities of denmark of bringing code. so it works on the sides of the sabotage, a journalist, almost taurus, but they deny uh, russian experts. so their rights to participate in the investigation. and they also keep a security council uninformed of what's happening. so we decided to draw their attention
9:33 pm
to fellow members of the security council to these absolutely outrageous situation guy, you know, so, and so i, this is news to me, mr. probably asking, so this, so there are certain scandinavian countries that are essentially doing almost like taurus to was in, in, in the baltic there around with this type of timing, i guess. now the north stream cemetery is towed into some sort of disney world attraction mr. party on ski, i mean, let me on this. i mean, any new information regarding the sabotage of the north stream. do we know anything new as well? we apparently knew a lot thanks to the work of says on the southern independence. investigators like same refers, for example, or his colleagues about the same at the same time, we are witnessing very clear attempts by some wisdom media to divert attention from video calibrate. so for what has happened to some conspiracy theories read ranging
9:34 pm
from russia blowing these pipeline itself? i don't know why to some, uh, non state actors like people coming on the boat uh, driving down and blowing this uh, this thing with some very henzy explosive, which is absolutely laughable. because most of serious experts, they absolutely concur in the, in the conclusion that this was done by the state after and this was done with close coordination. we is at least to the uh, the, the neighboring countries. so, uh, in this regard. so we don't have anything new that has been brought to the attention of the security council and we expect it, as i told you, we expected a very responsible behavior from the parts of these 3 countries. we expected that they would share their conclusions with the security council for us to see how to move further and these direction, but to be absolutely see no kind of cooperation from the abroad. no desire to
9:35 pm
update security council is nothing drainage isn't. isn't that strange, mr. polanski, i mean, you talk about culpability and the culprits here. i mean, isn't it bizarre to you? but the united nations still unimaginably con, actually identified name and the cues with culprits behind the sabotage. and how is it so difficult to understand who was behind this or yeah, this episode of the, the not only bizarre, this is also shameful and the, i think that the majority of the members of the yeah, and i most speaking about security council as such, right. now, but the majority of the members of the yeah, and they understand what the consequences can they, what the kind of world face if such an international infrastructure, pipelines and projects are being blown up in such a unpunished way. and nobody is even trying to look after after the culprits. so we
9:36 pm
just understand that the majority of the membership, they are waiting, what we will the national investigation. so these 3 countries produce, we frankly do not have high hopes. i can draw a conclusion from how these countries that'd be shaving how they are conducting the investigation. we see clear attempts to mislead international community uh, to, to discover something that would be kind of a false where i got the ration. i don't know what, but they actually not doing the right thing, but we have, we were patient for some time, but we are expecting them to at least updates security council to share their conclusions for us to understand to every where we are. but they're not doing so. they are keeping us in dark at the same time. they are bringing these. the tories joined the list so to the sides, a who are making photos. so it means that this is possible and that they could have brought to our expenses there. and we also contacting our investigation, we can join efforts today, or we think it's in our common interest is not only the interest of russia. so this
9:37 pm
kind of a who was behind these, but it's in the interest of the international community and i can tell you the majority of those with whom i spoke from the margins of the meeting. and in general, they absolutely share these kind of necessity the out of the russian deputy ambassador to the u. n. a demetrius to ask you, join us live here or not, you international is such a shame, really, because it does seem like so often, you know, most goes intentions, a good the un but itself. and it seems like roger is just banging his head against the brick wall and it's, it's a shame the way the u. n continues to behave these days and it's no wonder there's so many people around the world, particularly the leadership in china. colds for the reformation, the un needs to be performed. polanski, appreciate your work. i will speak to you soon. thank you for your time. thank you . the key f, as i left out for the former us president brock obama, who just admitted the crime. you had a compelling interest to reunite with russia advice, so to ukraine in president added them instead of such statements. obama should look
9:38 pm
within the mid to the mistakes that he's made. the ukraine of that time is not the frame that we're talking about today. there's a reason why there was not an armed invasion of cry mirror because crimea was full of a lot of russian speakers. and there was some sympathy to the view that russia was representing. it has been to interest the rod at the time the uh, the ukraine in problem itself. still had a number of brushing supervisors and the politics inside ukraine were more complicated. weird. and most importantly, what for if mister brock obama publicly states that russia's annexation of crime in 2014 was legal and justified. then we should not be surprised that today there is a full scale russian aggression in europe and a large scale war of aggression, those taking hundreds of thousands of lives. and that international law practically
9:39 pm
does not exist. maybe it's time to started moving critical mistakes instead of coming up with new excuses. of course, the author of violent code that's half of the pregnant government at february 2014 thousands flooded the streets of crime. me is largest city expressing that distrust of p a less than a month later, the crime in parliament voted to join russia. and that decision was cemented when a referendum was actually held and officially 90 percent of the voters didn't choose to leave you. a crane. however, western power skill refused to recognize the results of what was enough for shoulders referendum vote. russia is been working hard to create a pretext for being able to invade further. roches talked about russian speaking minority citizens or under siege. they're not referendum in the crime. it is illegitimate and illegal. it was spetchko together in 10 days and held the point
9:40 pm
of the russian collection in february and march of 2014. russia carried out it's an extension of the crime me and peninsula through brutal force. right, so have this chart and take it a bit further now with our human rights and labor rights, lloyd head on the excuse me, i beg your pardon, bank of alex tarry. dunn is one of those days here at moscow. a busy program on, on the international. always so good to see. i mean, look, obviously obama left off of 6 years ago when relations with russia were already going down hill. but now obama has come out, admittedly, with a cnn interview, looking back over his time and offers. but he has actually admitted that crime in this world largely in favor of joining ross show. why do you think he's come out with that comment now? well, that's a good question. i mean, if you look at the interview, he is a real articulate. i'm not sure he planned on even saying it. but i think that, you know, we might call it in the, in the law and excited your daughter. she was asked that he was excited and he said
9:41 pm
the truth, you know, i was there by the way, you know, i just got back from gardening in may. and it's very clear to me, people are happy to be back part of russia and i get, you know, again, something inspired obama to say something. it's true. unfortunately, for the western press, it goes against their narrative. it does go against the manager narrative in the west, but it's apparently, it's a well a riling, a few feathers among some in t of one or 2 people in k a. but really angry with brock obama saying this and they say that he's made a mistake and he needs to take a look within. yeah, well again, i think that he is just stating facts. i think clear facts, in fact, even you can find, go to the internet, you can find articles in the mainstream press before february of 2022, where the press does admit the people in crimea. we're happy to be back corner brush. again, that's very clear. if you go to crime via, you'll see that people feel very comfortable being back part of russia, of course,
9:42 pm
crime you was part of for us, you're dating back to 1783. they happen to be gifted to ukraine kind of arbitrarily in 1954, but very few people now in january of 1991, they actually voted to leave ukraine to become an autonomous republic. but that was ignored once the soviet union collapsed, but clearly cry me and feels comfortable being part of russia. and again, i think obama has nothing to apologize for. it's uh, you know, i remember watching the referendum take place in crime air. and i was watching uh, the channel that i used to work for is to work for cnn back in atlanta years ago. and i was watching that coverage with my former colleague, michael holmes. and they were, they were showing literally thousands of people in, in, in a huge line that was reading between the buildings of crime here and the present. it was in atlanta who was throwing to that correspondent in crime if they didn't like what he was saying. michael holmes was saying, look at all these people, they're always people, grandparents, parents, children,
9:43 pm
there. they will come out to be a part of the referendum. and at which point the present as to a hosting that shows that michael. but we're going to cut the signal here is this is not working out for us to cut the story, get rid of it. why do you think see it and cut him off so quickly. which, because network psych, cnn frank, they have become mouth pieces for the us state department. and they want to filter out any narrative, the calendars, the state department, position on foreign affairs, in particular, any foreign affairs touching upon russia and ukraine. and that's a shame. and the we really have a media that is in the tank for our government. there is not, it least in the mainstream legacy press an independent and free pressed at this point is 11 thing people don't really have a frankly mentioned about the issue whether it's crimea stuff estoppel that, that part of the world. i mean you've, you've got the russian black sea fleet value calculus, seen
9:44 pm
a massive naval ships. that is a huge naval asset for the russian federation. and yet this is something that the mainstream media or politicians never, never really talk about why. why do you think that is? well again, because it's inconvenient to the narrative. i mean, it rush, i had a big fleet there, even from 1991 to 2014. right. i mean, there was a deal between russia and ukraine. i think something like 80 percent of the military ships in the black sea port. there were russia even when ukraine was in charge. so the connection with russia has never been broken in any serious way. but again, that goes against the narrative that somehow russia out of nowhere snatched the peninsula away from ukraine in 2014 human ad labor rights laurie a don, cuz i like joining us live here analogy international. i always enjoy your comments for you. thank you. very much for joining us for us by shifting gears now to
9:45 pm
iran, where the country has dedicated an entire week to what it calls exposing us double standards on human rights, shedding life and washington's actions. also in the early years off of the islamic revolution, let's uh, understand a bit more with all these use after not a recounting and exposing the american human rights. this is the theme of this conference held into wrong in that setting, right? somebody, us rights abuses, any of our officials, rights activists and victims of us sanctions on the wrong are present here to provide physical evidence. so be us as dual take on the issue of human rights. maybe patients and and this is, was a function of lister and usa cause i life as a be patient like the other people that today are here to our patients.
9:46 pm
butterfly patients tell us new patients, and they have a lot of problem and about their drugs in death situation from one or 2 years that we can we can do indeed, our button binders are of drugs from another country option a di bluetooth. the us claims that medicine is exempt from the sanctions. but here's an interesting point. there are different types of sanctions direct and indirect. but the type of sanctions that have never been addressed, or the networks sanctions, which do not allow me to conduct banking transactions with entities that transform my payment to the pharmaceutical companies. such sanctions prevent me from working with medical firms. events comes as far as the annual occasion dog and to be american and human rights, where he talks the series of tragic incidents that he was holding with in the same timeframe when hundreds of iranians were killed into yours after the victory up in
9:47 pm
1979 his vomit revolution rights activists here say, you know, those instances, the footprints of that you was cutting each price. one of the most tragic incidents was the 1988 down in government. ronnie, an airliner by the u. s. navy, which killed all the $290.00 people on board the doing plane of 35 years on there. one is, are still waiting for an apology from washington. i believe that that's a captain of the ship. william rogers may be, was his name rogers. i know his last name is rogers. uh, i believe that he knew it was a passenger plane and he was ordered to to shoot it down. and uh, unfortunately hundreds of innocent people lost their lives. it's, it's a great tragedy. i, i'm not aware. it's maybe maybe they did, but i'm not aware of the us government ever paid any kind of reparations or damages
9:48 pm
to the iranians families that, that lost family members on that flight. in 1981, the notorious terrace groups majority in a common organization known as the m k. o m u k. bomb, the headquarters, other ones as well. and the group public party killing several officials, including it, runs the injustice chief mohammed, the history activists. it'd be enter your 3rd group has enjoyed significant support from washington. drops out all you. is it the chevy and one of the engine main actions carried out by the moon offer? can your dean have led their supporters to stop packing them? despite their 40 years of support for the m k o, the west had to finally retreat from the terra group and can no longer rely on them . the us says use the m k o as a criminal tool over the past 40 years. but now it has come to realize that it has stained its reputation with the m k o image, and this is forced to us to back down on the group. the m k. o was also allegedly responsible for the assassination of top iranian nuclear scientists into 20 ten's.
9:49 pm
wherever on it uses the celia to have engineered guitar attacks. but the most recent one was the assassination of top your money and military commander, general goss, i'm so the money this time, washington admitted, but it directly carried out the attach. i gotcha. although the american officials have tried to justify their actions, we have talked to international rapid to or some of the un, like missed call them are just to confirm the international crime committed by the us and declared that the assassination of general solve money is a blatant human rights violations on an international scale goes on. so you want us has last, it's for holding your wants is more than 4 decades ago. the dark memories, if left in the country seemed to be indelible. this is not the end of the story yet . washington continues to create even sweeter memories for ronnie as, as it intensifies its harshest essentials where she won't have on with her run does humanitarian side effects all with impunity. use of generally are to

be time. iran is open to join the brick spine, only as are about 2 dozen other nations with tear on also was enjoying this china high cooperation organization on the your range and economic union. talk about being on the front lines of multiple out here in the world, continues to change on the 1st within the it's turning out to be an all out battle for your attention to talk you see in reference to a clock, but now it is one of the most recognizable social media platforms supposed to be over $1000000000.00 users, and over a $150.00 countries and going up against the biggest names in tech sky. now here's an audit. this edition of 360 view. we're going to look at the controversial rise
9:51 pm
of tip talk more platforms like meta and google are aggressively trying to diminish it's growing popularity. let's get started. the tick tock is being banned from government devices in the united states for concerned the chinese parent company by dance is using the social media after spine on american. but there does not seem to be agreement across the board from legislators about banning the short video platform or national course networks on a slot of joined us to show where the line is drawn and who benefits the most from an all out band locks on a wells gaudy, the u. s. government has ask by chance to sell off tick tock in america, or it will be bad. there seems to be up by partisan supporting congress to bundle social media up from government devices. however,
9:52 pm
the night before that c e o was set to testify before congress. i picked up process led by 3 democratic representative demo bowman, mark polk can and robert garcia to place outside the capital, tick tock, even pay to fly out 30 of their top content creators from all over the country to joining the process. they were each holding science writing not what they believe thrives on tick tock. while the influencers were painting, the social media sites supported possibly be community members of congress had a different view of the up during the comedy hearing. well grilling tick, tock, c, e. o. to see sure, the chinese communist party is engaged in psychological warfare through tick tock to deliberately influence us children. representative body carter went on to mention danger and challenges circulated to young children on the up. some with
9:53 pm
fatal outcomes. you know about the, about the blackout challenge. you know about the nyquil chicken challenge, the benadryl challenge, the dragon's breath, liquid nitrogen trend. do you know what did they have these kind of challenges like this over in china? because it's my understanding. they don't. what's a blowers have come forward? st picked up. we also promote video. so people feeling the press, i'm wanting to commit suicide. we're in china. the sister up own by, by dance is more of an educational site promoting positive or thinking videos on page $57.00. would you share this content with your children, with your 2 children? would you want them to see this? and again, i want to warn everyone watching that you may find this content disturbing, but we need to watch this, please. let's. or you got a t o,
9:54 pm
yes. or like right now. and then i'm gonna put a shotgun in my mouth and blow the brains of the back of my head. so you have full responsibility over the algorithms, used by tick tock to prioritize content, to which user, yes or no, please. accomplishment we. we do take these issues very upset. yes or no. and we do provide resources for anyone who types in anything but the big grease on tick tock is banned from government devices is the obligation the app is use to spot on americans through the data gathering. i want to band tick tock for very simple reason. they allow the chinese communist party to gain access to all of the private data on any device in america, that's using tick tock. that's our kids. that's phones connected to our kids phones . and that's a national security threat. however, the 2 companies who have been lobbying the hardest for the bonham,
9:55 pm
tick tock not only have their own data on privacy pollination concerns, but also have the most game to the full of the chinese company. google i made, i have read this copy, cut verses up, picked up in due to a nice like run. if the talk is bad, they have the most of game with all those advertising dollars going to their companies. and facebook barring company made, i agreed to pay $725000000.00 to settle a class action lawsuit. the social media giant was accused of giving 3rd party access to use or data without their consent. the scandal in both the political consulting firm come rich, and then you can actually file a claim to get part of the settlement money. well, you have to enter a bunch of personal private information 1st. yeah. sounds real safe, right? and yet textbook is the one that us has binding. if it is truly about security and
9:56 pm
data privacy, they should all be banned. the internet is full of dark places, and young children are spending tons of time exploring them worldwide. 90 percent of teenagers, children $13.00 to $18.00 have social media more than 38 percent of the teenagers across a glove spend over 8 hours a day on social media. in the us, the average teenager will spend almost 2 hours on picked up alone. depression and anxiety is at an all time high in children. the real problem may be, all of the social media must be, but i'm getting unplugged for 36 of you. i'm brooks and this alone works and it's such an interesting conversation. we talk about social media right now and the difference between it's not only just a youth that i think that are using all of these platforms. i'm seeing more adults . i'm seeing even boomers that are on all of the social media platforms to be able to communicate, especially like your family is across country,
9:57 pm
across the world. so they use it to actually use as a form of, of keeping in touch with one another. well, let me tell you is cutting my fondest and stuff buzzing from 5 in the morning till 11 to about 9, because i have touched with my family and columbia multiple sites with them. i have worked at, i have co worker chat so i can feel the diction and the drone to of um, social media and technology. so it is, um, it is a problem. well, it's not just communication. i have to tell you, i get probably more of my cooking tips and my work out tips as well as cleaning tips, these little distorted things that make life easier actually come from short, little videos on take talking 9 times out of 10. i don't get much politics, which is probably why a lot of people actually liked the app. roxana, thank you so much for joining us. to joining me now to discuss this tech feature editor for business insider to kendra palmer, thanks for joining us to kendra. you know, there are hundreds of social media platforms on the internet today, but only i'd say 6 who are really major players in the social media get ok. so what are the key elements in the present to make a social media platforms success?
9:58 pm
yeah, i mean, i think it comes down to one major thing. it's like, where are the people? that's where you know that those are going to be the most successful social media platforms take talk has a rapid user adoption base across the world. it's pretty surprising to see, you know, you see platforms came to that instagram. um, you know, again, they use their numbers there. interesting interface content that people want to engage with. whereas like facebook, for example, used to be the thing. but now user adoption has shifted to facebook's or meadows. other platforms and you have, you have an older school data or an older segment of the population using facebook itself, usually popular just different amount of people use different types of people using it. so it's a where the people are and how good is the content is that is the biggest things when it comes to social media success. so is there
9:59 pm
a target audience on social media platforms that they come up with when they go after a certain demographic? yeah, i mean, if you, if you think of social media companies as their, their clients are advertisers, right. they want to be able to serve you the most relevant ads. and so the target demographic is still going to be that like, you know, young uh, well income population that can't afford to spend money on things that, you know, $181045.00 range of people that you know are like out there going to concerts, buying things for their money, their parents money that i, that's the target audience for a lot of social media companies to put like the goal. so for me to companies today is about relying information or is it about making money and how does the social media companies actually make their dollars? and it's about making money, a 100 percent. right?
10:00 pm
like news, all of those things, keep people on the platform. if you can scroll through your facebook feed and read like one times or 3 times articles or 3 wall street journal articles that you're going to read that day, you're going to stay on that platform. and then you're gonna engage with brand new content, and you're going to engage with your best friends content. all of that is keeping you on. and then what you're getting is like the nike add for the new tv, or like the nike add for the new kicks that you want to buy, or the netflix ad for the new tv show that you want to watch on keeping your attention means more money for the social media companies, henry, you bring up the idea of all the money which is involved in social media platforms, which actually makes me think of influence. now there's an across the board and all of the social media platforms. and is the key element of this battle is the influencers and the money that they're getting are in slow. it's just taking a big chunk of the marketing budget.
