a lot to assess a cloud, it labeled with so many nations in the region and such a cost to insure the area of, of fisheries and, and for tomorrow. but if china is excluded, and russia is excluded from the monitoring group. i think that there's mixing politics would, would public health would people scale? china has restricted exports of chip making metals in retaliation over new western sanctions on the stomach, conductor industry escalating the task or between the 2 greatest economies. the move comes after washington tightened a band on ship exports to china. china defended his decision, saying that it was in order to mitigate risk. the national security. china is the top producer of rare, or metals as the country. it holds 15 percent of the world's production capacity. the restrictions will come into effect on august 1st and will apply to true metals
5:40 pm
that are used for computer chips and solar cells. as the 2 metals in question are gallium and germanium which are sparsely found in nature, china produces 60 percent of the world's germanium. an 80 percent of gallium, according to the critical raw materials alliance, other gallium producers include russia and ukraine. or the metal is produced as a by product of a lumina, as well as south korea and japan, or it is produced as a by product of z. these vital bits of technology have become a focal point in the conflict between the 2 super power. it's to discuss as indefinitely now across life. to blogger, i'm political analysts, alex report a fi. welcome, alex. so how do you think the chinese restrictions of the 2 metals impact the west is my friendship industry and it's relations with china as well?
5:41 pm
well, this is a warning shot here. it's, you know, not a death blow, but a warning shot. and if i was the americans, i would be paying attention to the periodic table of elements here because this is just to and yes, they are important, but they will disrupt the supply chains throughout the world, especially in the united states. but we must keep in focus here on this is china kind of giving the americans a little bit of a break here and they could go much stronger with other metals. similarly, meadows, like lithium or cobalt that make battery powers and battery generators. they could go much for farther, but right now i would say they're being pretty generous. well now in europe, the netherlands also announce new export controls on advanced chip manufacturing equipment. this past friday. do you think that could have contributed to china's decision as well? well, we have to look at the supply chains. who is this going to impact the most?
5:42 pm
i mean, the reason why most of these countries we're going to china for these metals was to keep the costs down. and we know that the americans are battling inflation. the bank of england raised interest rates again, they are one of the last to collective west countries that still has not gotten inflation under control. this couldn't come at a better time for them. unfortunately, once again, these are very important metals that are needed for the daily use of items like a, you know, computers, computer chips, things that really power a lot of the technology and a lot of the energy energy saving uh, technology out there. it's unfortunate for europe in america to use this type of tactics. i would say they started it with the sanctions elevator and the china just said, okay, we're going to take 2 metals. we know that these are important. this is a warning. be careful because more is to come if they continue their attacks or
5:43 pm
their i would say sanctions against china. you mentioned the importance of the supply change, but timing is everything. what do you make of the timing? considering treasury secretary, janet yelton's visit to beijing this past week. well, we all know how anthony blinking the visit went as soon as he left the country. he insulted the you know, the government here in fine fashion, i think even before his plane landed, janet will once again be welcomed. but ah, yes, i think it is a nudge, nudge, wink, wink, uh, a shot across the about and more to come. this is, you know, a country the united states trying to get its deficit under control and as well as it's inflation. this is not good news for them, not at all as well. the controls on gallium injury and am, are intended to safeguard national security. i mean, that's what the chinese commerce ministry has said. what do you think they met by
5:44 pm
that? well, i think there is some truth to that. we won't go into uh, you know, what military devices are needed with this. but you can see that this, you know, these 2 real metals, the, the germanium and the gallium arsenide, i mean these are very important components in some military hardware, you know, infrared technology as well as you know, night vision goggles. we also know that there are many uh, companies here in china that do make this equipment here for the domestic market. it could be a response of maybe china is not very happy with the recent visits to its island of tai one here. and we all know how the americans go on a military sales come and test when they arrive on the island there. so i think this is china just protecting its, its domestic market. blogger and political analysts. alex report

a 5. thank you. thank you. amend, lukewarm support. among nato members, for ukraine's aspirations to join the book, the literally and president has urged the alliance to outline a clear timeline on care of a session bid, which has been put on the back burner. we should not hesitate to make bold the decisions because otherwise put his regime, we'll decide that less than that lies a week and should be posting to the corner. so they surrender all remarks on ukraine's membership perspective will for sure increase the fighting spirit of ukrainian soldiers on the battlefields. and that is very important to this comes ahead of next week's nato summit and lisa ania, where the block is expected to approve additional military support for cab. however, ukraine's as session been to the alliance will not be on the agenda at the meeting, despite cabs demands for a roadmap. and even the lithuanian president himself has been forced to admit that
5:46 pm
ukraine cannot join the blog, father's, military conflict in the country. similar statements had been made by top officials from other nato states including germany. during my recent meetings with nato secretary general young stilton burg, we have once again agreed that they alliance must not become a site to the granting conflict at any circumstances. this is why we cannot answer the question on you grant's accession tonight. so while there is war going on, the ukraine only after that, we and ukraine will decide on the conditions of succession to the lines. but there seems to be no end in sight for the ukraine. conflict as peace talks are not currently on the table. while caps troops have been trying and failing for weeks to break through russian defensive on the front lines. that's just by all the western military support ukraine's president says he needs even more weapons and is pushing for f. 16 fighter jets, but a top nato officer says care will not be getting such fire power any time soon,
5:47 pm
at least until its current counter offensive is over. i'm role rob bower added that he have already has an advantage on the battlefield. thanks to already supplied western arms and what she called highmore route and motivation less. now this guy says this must go based international affairs and security analysts marks la bowed up. mark so welcome. but what do you think nato is being so reluctant to openly discuss a roadmap for you kinds of session bed, which you have submitted last year. they seem to keep dangling the carrot and pulling it back. i need to, uh, since 2008 uh they launched a communique which said that uh, ukraine and georgia would one door they join nato. but that day doesn't actually look any closer than either in the short nor the medium term. the principal reason
5:48 pm
at the moment is if you crane was simply absolved of a meeting all of the military requirements of joining the alliance. it would still mean as long as a conflict is going on with russia. and there are territorial claims contested that that would immediately invoke article 5 and bring nato and russia into direct military conflict. and while poland in the baltics might very well go, be willing to go down that avenue if the rest of nato was backing them up. i think many of the other members of nato are so keen uh, to engage in a war that very likely could escalate to the nuclear and in a short period of time. so a road map requires a definitive answers and would have consequences if violated as long as this
5:49 pm
conflict continues. and there is an open question about how much of ukraine is left under the control of the covers you at the end of this conflict that, that leave a lot of questions open out of how it even to fashion a road map. while the conflict is going on. yeah, i mean, nato officials say they don't want to be party to accomplish, but it seems they already are. it's just not official. now, what's your assessment of russia's response to all of these developments that's far? what sort of steps do you think moscow could actually take to stop the flow of western weapons to ukraine? um, i think uh, 1st and foremost, uh, the united states and nato. i mean we've, we've heard comments from senator lindsey graham, the near o'con, and the us. they're actually fairly well enjoying this situation because they are able to inflict a military damage and learn a lot about russian military tactics and technical capabilities. while. busy
5:50 pm
the russia basically can't hit back. so while they're restricted by acting through the filter of the cube or human ukraine, it does offer them some benefits as well. um, i think that russia is red lines at this point. um are pretty much of gloss. there are things that russia could do, but they would have to be a symmetric and response. we would very likely not hear about a lot of them, at least not openly cyber warfare, providing military and intelligence assist, store to rebels in the area of the u. s. is illegal military occupation of these syria? possibly strike backs against us in western countries under water cables and pipelines in response for the us destruction of the north stream pipelines. but right now, i think they're principally focused on this conflict and, and saving
5:51 pm
a such measures. for escalation later, we've seen non stop reports in western media for months about ukrainian pilots being trained to pilot these of succeed fighter jets. benito officials are now saying they will not get those weapons any time soon. do you, do you think that was it you turn or was this the plan all along to it? it's a question of politics meets military reality. the f. 16 is is 1st of all, it's an eighties era aircraft, but uh, the transition from a mig, a air force to an f 16 and another western air force is very substantial evidence based 4th magazine. last august, put out an article, suggesting romania as a prototype, as, as a lessons learned. for their own transition to the f. 16 they've been working on it for
5:52 pm
a decade and they're still not their pilots trained on megs. they have completely wrong instincts, completely wrong training to operate uh, the sixteens and the 16 has a lot of requirements. it requires, it's kind of like the cadillac of the sky. it requires long, pristine runways that simply do not exist in ukraine in and even if they were built they would immediately become targets. and the slight amount of damage to these runways could lead to catastrophic results. the 16 requires absolutely pristine runways, because of its very low swung engines and any stray piece of, of a pebble or bolts are not sucked into. those engines would be immediately catastrophic, which is why the us has to go to such extreme lengths. russell also has an extremely powerful air force of its own, with much more modern aircraft in the of 16 by western account. some $700.00 aircraft, basically waiting to pounce around you,
5:53 pm
crane. and roger has what even western military experts consider the most formidable air defense systems in the world. mark, i'm sorry we ran out of time, we'll have to discuss this at a later time. thank you so much. international affairs and security analysts marks will vote a nicely hear from you the bags. and that's a right for now for breaking news head over to r t dot com and be sure to follow us on odyssey rumble and down for more things were turning in my colleague, nicky, aaron will be taking over soon the

in the mail. kyle has received a a to make over as consumers have a band and a dairy farmer, instead of different brands of whole 2 percent in skim options now range from a soil almond and out. i'm sure i know hughes, and on today's 360 view, we're going to look at what is causing the world to become more lactose intolerant . let's get started. a new ad by the creators behind gotten milk has got people talking. international correspondent, roxan of solano explains why this take on getting people to drink. milk may have backfired. well, scotty, i don't think address. i'm for median aubrey, plus i intended to get in the middle of the milk wars. with this commercial,
5:55 pm
the world's 1st and only milk made for me what. what now started with a simple idea. i saw a tree, and i asked myself, can i drink this? as it turns out, the answer is yes. if you make it into the commercial, went all it's showing different flavors and it's not until the and when you see the take on up, it's tyson product through your 100 part time. realize it is a power the they even created a website and there some dice. scrolling through to the bottom, you read a disclaimer saying wouldn't milk is 100 percent fake, completely made up. and the whole spoof is actually spa sort. i'm paid for by america's meal companies. is would melt real? absolutely not. only real amounts, it's felt then what did i invest in? the only issue is most millennials and n z will drink milk. as you said,
5:56 pm
based for scott, the meal aisle has changed. there are tons of different products labeled milk, making none very alternative these very popular, but the question is, would use drink, would milk marks? and with all of these options, i tell you, i'm not a moved. i mean, i'm sorry i had to enter my joke on that one. i'm sorry, but no, i would not. i'm one of those the plays and you know, there's a reason why god for the cows on this earth make milk. why? why i scares me. of things that are altered in sort of a, in a scientific era. well, for me is like there are so many products base supplement theory you know, like pastries, lot to use obviously. um sandra and brad with mud or its hard not to not eat or drink me. right. and i think it's important that we know what actually when they say meal, what is milk every other day? we have lots of other questions in this world. now we just added one more into our repertoire. we're trying to thank you so much for reporting on this. yeah,
5:57 pm
there's almost 79000000 begins in the world. and while that number sounds big, there's only one percent of the global population. but the number of people who are choosing not to drink milk from the cow is increasingly growing. now the choice to consume milk alternative is subjective and varies from person to person. all based on individual preferences, beliefs and dietary needs, or some are choosing the alternative because they might have an allergy or lactose intolerance. well, others choose the alternatives because they believe it is healthier for their body . then there's those that believe in drinking non dairy, because they're choosing this past because they believe is better for the plant. by me, other methane produced by kaos are the possible in humane treatment of cattle and dairy farms. but with retail sales of a plant based milk alternative topping 20900000000 globally last year. the increase in availability of products and the marketing of options definitely is causing real
5:58 pm
competition for the dairy industry. in fact, statistical data reveals milk alternatives are the largest category of a plant based food exceeding meat ready made meals and ice cream products. what effect will this have on the future of the dairy industry and world wide availability? well, to join us to discuss is silva and sharp. why is a community of research and professor in food distribution and a policy at del jolla university in halifax, nova scotia, canada. he's a former member of the universities and faculty of management. thanks for joining us. dr. charlotte, why? thank you so much for joining us today. i want to start off this conversation. are you seeing an actual decrease in demand for milk from dairy farms right now? actually the consumption per capita has been dropping steadily for the last several years. so consumption overall is quite steady. but with even with more
5:59 pm
people to feed the, we are seeing a drop per capita. so we are drinking less mil now with dairy products, a bit different dairy products. so depending of the product you look at, demand actually does go up from time to time like butter. for example, a few years ago the demand for butter did go up uh for other products as well. so it really depends what the of the product you look like you look at. but generally speaking, fluid milk consumption is, is way down per capita on both sides of the border. really, why do you feel like this is happening at the present time? well, 1st of all, i think that a lot of people are considering reconsidering their relationship with with dairy. i mean, we're the only um, uh, mabel's honors drinking milk from another mammal. and when you think about it, it really can feel awkward for some people. there is some history,
6:00 pm
obviously it didn't happen overnight. the, we've been doing this for thousands and thousands of years, but now with science, we know more about nutrition. we know more about health. and so now there are more options. all of a sudden the people could actually get their nutritional fix elsewhere are consuming, other types of food and the end. thanks to science, thanks the research we're able to provide these options to, to consumers. that's why people are starting to reconsider their relationship with milk. and barry generally speaking, are very farmers currently trying to do anything to help encourage consumption of their product. again, as such a large scale as we've seen in the past. i mean, one of the largest and lobbying groups used to be, especially in the west was the dairy farmers, especially amongst the education department. are you seeing the idea of stepping up those marketing camp.
