tv Interview RT August 27, 2023 9:30am-10:01am EDT
9:30 am
i got close to 2 inches cold to the army, airports, among others, the ruling party support as a celebrating whilst, i mean, other parts is a sober mood. it's quiet. people are complaining, they're saying their hearts are broken. so it's, it's, it's cold here. these no much jubilation, especially evenings in bubbles capital city, had that a well for more on the fall at, let's cross a live now to political list. read, joyce, and go in your in the nation's capital are all right. you're most welcome. just 1st of all, how has the result of the vote being generally accepted by people? what's the feeling on the streets after day and night? the it says to report a phase, the benefit period time visit opinion on, on the, on the funding declarative agency. all felt good results, but bidding in mind that you don't most have incentives, i do not have any claim towards the, the opposition and those of the federal court discrepancies. we're the ones that i
9:31 am
have expecting that to nelson tell me self with uh, we uh, but of course then the, you know, the, uh, the, you know, invited me to issues party to go the modem to issues that are being discussed. that a c tree of mitigate a dentist uh type in photos is that its been uh, uh, consolidated by the septic report from that. so can give us more about or leaks on the, you know, going down the lessons is not being uh, according to the portal, the subject and the other, you know, incentives nobody's not principal. so this be a really big white spray. did a disagreement really as to the result? yeah, just the flash that i the, as you say, the opposition is crying file claiming the parts of the voting process was flawed. and for example, seeing that there were a hefty delays and delivering election boxes binding of riley's etc. while
9:32 am
international observers said the vote fell short of democratic standard. does the opposition of a case for an appeal? i mean, it's, this is, this is part it. it's ready, but if you look at it from the, from 2 dimensions, from the parties to call it and be checking call, then to, to promote the dimension. you can sense that piece. it could become us our own, the possible litigation because the party got environment. what's best cuz no type deal will be posted on the intended, electronically phones were not put in place. the difficult piece of my system do you want us to roll and the, the underage intimidation by tradition of the dos and also security elements associated with the before the product that we've already talked to you. if you look at the, the living situation it's, it's fair to coordinate. got it for an extension level, the live in the credit, but it's still so full of data. but when it gets to the national presidential, he did come on. he becomes very disputable. so i,
9:33 am
i really ready the all for the student have big, it's uh to take careful condition. okay. so i'm upset about the re election of the incumbent president might suggest that little change has a head in the country. is that a for a claim, or do you expect anything significant to be united for mr. and then gag was 2nd term. just with mr. miller, that's a really the, you know, the sport has been an issue all fed the risk and sanctions, the access at a fed mount click a row, a support. so these huge a huge developments that's required to transfer them to bowie. and you say you can meet or you can come economy of going to does need to much more a vendor protocol support. so we, we know that's a, the to countries. it says it says go to a lot of resources. but it's good to be here between what did you coach for me something i'm going to proceed with. you said he couldn't make it. you don't take
9:34 am
that code. why? because of that this slide is repeat. all right, nick activity are going to be created. could it be stipulation so as you really have to wait for us to indeed assist to assist you? no. peas, no peas, room very interesting day. thank you for coming in the program on sharing your thoughts with us live from the some bubble in a capital political analyst rejoice, and the quinn yet us. alright, exclusive interview with rushes and foster too. so some of these up next the know surprising. this week's historic brick gathering in johannesburg. dillman, it's the conversational, catch it in full, the
9:35 am
hello investigator. thank you so very much for making time to sit with us today. we're different on the thanks for having me. of course, as you know, the 15th annual break summit just wrapped up here in johannesburg. um, how is it being seen by boat, south africa and russia? um, well it's, it's a big event. obviously, of course, um it will be more better uh, visible from some distance. um but so, so i'm, i'm sort of cautious to employees some big awards right now, like it is a historic event, but to minutes personal rated use of them in describing their results. but anyway,
9:36 am
it's a big achievement. i think that it is a very important for the development of the brakes and multi fuller worlds in general. and i am proud to be part of the time proud to be part of the group that participates in based on the russian side. although bricks is not my portfolio with my responsibility, but nevertheless, uh and um, i would like to use this opportunity to congratulate our south african partners and friends because they do that. and the substance will be assessed perhaps later on. i'm not certain whether i can foretell that to the works. history will be divided into a preacher hands work puritan after japan has worked periods, but certainly it is a very important event. uh and uh they, they, they did well. they coped uh very well with it. it was very well organized on the sub central side, it is a very important obviously. yes. and on the 3rd day and finally day,
9:37 am
a big announcement was made where 6 countries now will be enjoying a full membership of the block. what is your take on that? well, i think that it is very telling, especially in the circumstances when uh uh, our western non partners uh, was deployed so many efforts to know to to diminish the significance under attendance of these, the uh, sundance. uh, until they try to lou or more countries to, to their side and to the basically they will act according to the logic that was announced by president george bush or junior, i think some 20 years ago. once you said that it's either your with us or
9:38 am
your against us. and so that was at that time in connection with the international cooperation reporting terrorism. but later on the sound there was some was bred to other areas of international relations interest state relations. and more than more the 1st of all security areas, but then other fields uh where were covered by that approach. and the, to the extent that i think because i know it is, it is very difficult to me in neutral state to remain on the line state because there is less than the less breathing space for such countries and of the situation around. the korean shows that um, so under such a pressure and under such circumstances it is very telling that many countries
9:39 am
choose to join bricks. i guess 6 countries where i meet with those members. but i know the number of other, uh, uh, this is sort of announced. they are a desire their will to you in bricks to become part of bricks in one way or another . so. ready their list of candidates didn't become shorter. right. and uh, again, uh, but it smelt to just, uh, uh, the old, this advantages and benefits for almost everything with bricks, countries from being a bricks member. but also i think that of the, this western policy of either your, with us or against us has played a negative role for the west themselves for the westerners. and it is that there's also certainly one of the sectors which is important diplomatically. yes, and what makes you think that the brick block is so attractive to
9:40 am
most importantly, the global files. and because you are the ambassador to south africa, the continent because a lot of countries express said grievances against the western counterparts. saying that they no longer want to be told what to do. so what makes the bricks attractive? fuller? so some advantages are, are pretty old. this i think and to be do that and we respect each other. we treat each other as equals. we respect uh the sober and telling them us and sober and decisions that take breaks members and them as proof of that the decisions are taken by consensus within brooks. there are no 9 genius for and it was like a consensus minus one minus the one. so as we are different,
9:41 am
our interests are different, but we thrive in douglas diversity and we english each other. we don't want to march up to, you know, what you, that is a per you somewhere across the ocean. and you know, there is no such and such a discipline and then we do not try to impose on each other uh, our own interest and you know, try to impose some common values and so on and so forth. we, we agree we negotiate. if there are differences and uh we come to, to, to, to toy agreement. and, you know, throughout the week we have been, especially in the past 3 days, we have been interviewing a lot of political analysis and, and politicians from across the continent. and they all had one thing to say that they believed with this 6 additional countries. bricks may have brokered piece in
9:42 am
a case, to change it to a political places. what is your thought on that? um, well i, i, you know, it's, it's good to assess the brakes expansion and relationship with the rest of the world world uh, through the slams of that everybody would benefit from it. because otherwise we have to accept that who will inevitably use the mentality of. ready who, you know, from a sting point of view, that it is a threat from the standpoint of view of the a 0 sum game. and this is not the case this month. the case. hopefully, everyone will benefit from the break suspension, especially those will participate in the to become members who are brooks partners and in particular in them they get rid of security. i think they're over this
9:43 am
advantages of capital reaching with the brakes as no political strings. no conditions are attached to military corporation, military technical cooperation, within bricks, but otherwise, uh it we, oh no, no way. we should uh, assess it from the standpoint of your that if somebody gains them, we are losing um, and uh well this is the mentality of those. uh, my whole seat of a threat to basically and it does not. the threat breaks is my has my indian colleague said brooks is not the entry westbrook's as normal west. so there is no threat to i'm only around to just for everyone. and with the summit being hosted by south south africa, how does that suggest in the relationship between russia and south africa?
9:44 am
what both our countries, that's very no such drifting force on still do the brakes uh, entity as a group of states, it is very informal, as you know so far, there are no charters. so you know, founding documents, especially there is no, no secretariat, which would be a regular feature of an international organization. um, but uh, brakes you. ready is a very important tool internally here in south africa. uh will, i will, will be in a better position to compare how works the street that's internally in russia and then south africa next year when the russian will assume president seeing that some of these group to, uh, but um, south africans has proved that uh, the tickets are really seriously. um, you know, they respect the breeching ever. it gets future and desperate, including uh,
9:45 am
all the comic sign. and uh, they really work through a re cards in order to, to prepare the summit, them to show them. as they say mor bang from one to from a buck and it was very well prepared just and want one of the many key points that were discussed. doing both the bricks, investment for him and followed by the summit, is the need for both industrialization and scaling of emphasis structures. and as you very well know that south africa's struggles with power supply i, russian companies interested in coming to help south africa solve that problem. well, i know that there are russian companies that have all of the need of tools and ingredients to all of a, to these this problem or to solve this problem. and how they shuffle competence is
9:46 am
they, they are, they are strong financially and the, uh the, they have the needed technologist in different areas a so, um, uh, a soft separate comes decides that they would like to use uh the, these, these are russian companies in solving the problem of, uh, energy supply, energy generation, you know, they, they, they may just do it. and one of the many things that was emphasized by a south african business mentoring at the brakes investment for him is that they are looking for investors and they need access to investors. how often do they come and approach the russian embassy? and how do you manage to connect them and, and solve their issues of the connectivity with potential investors that could come
9:47 am
in invest in different sectors here. while we're doing our best, where we're trying as hard as we possibly can. there are very many people that come with different ideas to the embassy, but i would like to point out also that there is a russian trade the mission and your highness work. but this will stopped to do well. they are whole professionals and they are all the economists. uh, so we try to find out um, what exactly can be attractive to to the russian business? because of course, the purpose of the businesses to make some money. um, otherwise business organizations will become something else. uh now um we try to find uh if the old projects of course, are developed to, to, to a certain degree when we can already speak about investors and uh, you know,
9:48 am
like a 1st phase of implementing it. but um, or we try to connect people. i would try to identify exactly the acknowledges or competence is that are needed in lease or that to particular case that can be useful in the conditions. a specific conditions of south africa. and uh, we try to find uh such a company in, in the russia and still connect them. uh the, this is basically what we can do, what we can help. everything else is so far above our heads. and, you know, during the summit, a lot of the, the heads of states that gave speeches, appreciated russians role in helping them with their independence. a south
9:49 am
africa is one as well. how do, how is russia perceived in the south african society? and do you find those perceptions to be positive? uh, i definitely do. yes. uh, in uh, very many cases. uh, just having presented themselves to people start talking about our common history. and uh, it is a really inspiring that so many people have with uh, so, so, so up in their minds you know that, uh they, they tell us about uh, different different stories that results in their struggle against the foresight themselves or their parents. there are great parents, great, great grandparents and then so, um i think that this is the main feature how russia is identified. i'm seeing here is that this, that this is lisa association with the not so distant
9:50 am
a history when they use a sar helped a lot wrote in different terms. uh, the, the colonization struggle on the african continent in general, but also helped assist with national liberation movements in the, in southern africa and the struggle against the prostate here. and people do remember that they are referred to to this periods and mean, you know about the names of the 67. so an associate of military counselors who are on the i will look names in the morning and bark here in pretoria and so on. so, um,
9:51 am
so that the, that you remember what they think of russia is of us continuing states of the ussr . um, and this is the right thing. this is the right way because there is a particular aspect to that as well. now, when there were, uh, there is an event when people speak about our systems by the use of, sorry, that struggle. sometimes there is so, you know, why should popping from, from behind the scenes saying, but what's remember ukrainian was also helped to ukraine was part of the ussr. so your self africans should also be grateful to do your premiums as they are, were part of these systems and so on. now i have to explain that in the last 2 years, there are, there was a campaign in ukraine and they completely renounced of their soviet fast. their companions were this organization,
9:52 am
the community is ation their reciprocation. so know that inbound the russians image here in south africa and what so russia means the south african anyway. uh, what was the, this is, this is, this is going on. what could share with picking you know, um russia a different particular of the soviet debts. and it took us quite some time to efforts and assistance material assistance that was provided through the national, the duration movements. and others was park perhaps it all said that what was most enrollment? not til the economic difficulties that use a source or life. so ukrainians renounced, but they were not being office that we did. and now you know that they try to sort of jump on and off with them to watch them. and uh, this is simply moral. it's,
9:53 am
it's, it's either you, your, your soviet bust as glorious for it's the other page of your story. the alternation was problematic. last is glorious, you have to decide because you can look to pick, pick up from both sides and combined. we know leading up to the break summit, that the west was pressuring south africa in a lot of different ways in that hosting they, uh, the summit itself. and if president vladimir putin was to be present for a south africa to exercise is obligatory to the icy. see, can you elaborate on why the united states is just really pressuring countries like south africa, to, you know, create frictions between russia and not, not, and not have this relationship that is just organically foraging forward?
9:54 am
well, uh, well i can guess. uh and uh, i will have to go back to work, settle ready. uh that, uh, their mentality uh, works uh on in terms of the 0 sum game. and uh, no, the improving relationship uh between some of their partners they see as a negatively as a threat to them. which is not the case, at least with us in south africans because it does not. we are not for style. we're not certain us, south africa is not a threat to the us. and flows are guys between our countries is not the threat to the us. but the, but the list, this is, you know, 11 of the, if there's also 11 this 0 something and tell it the game is, or the able, you know, while the summit with unfolding and, and progressing successfully. the you uh,
9:55 am
the united states made the statement saying that it does not view brakes as a geo political rival. how much do you think we can trust the words of american politician given that they've never delivered their promises to the global south? well, i'm look inclined to trust american politicians, but then this particular case, i can see the following, that it is a very characteristic and repetitive feature. when the western positions accuse others of doing exactly what they are doing themselves. so it should be seeing like a what vice versa, you know, more than 660 years have passed since the adoption of the declaration on the granting of independence to the colonial countries and people. but we see that
9:56 am
western states are having a hard time letting that go and, and that is so evident through the neo colonial policies that they impose on countries like south africa and across the continent as well as the global. so why are they having such a hard time letting go? and just as letting these countries have their full independence, while it is because they like their, their request, they like it for about 500 years. they have been in the show of stablish them that should've been maintaining this, this uh world border uh, rules based world order according to the who was that they have invented and imposed on others. which was primarily, uh, the, uh,
9:57 am
re distribution of the world wills in their favor. and uh, initially it was just, you know, physical displacement of some commodities. gold uh, caught them. i don't know. what time are you taking the timber from uh, calling us and then that was the slave trade. them there were other colonial practices, very well known and know you were we were in the era of some neil colonial practices. and if, if you will say that this is so evident, i think that now, although i think that it is even more evident if you look at it in the historic right? retrospectively uh, full list, neo colonial practices breakfast as of the are still about the same moving uh,
9:58 am
world product, redistributing it and fever all for the western countries. and the a whole or whole multiple projects of that are no, no, no proposed an area of energy and technology equal development and so on. they have at least an element of, of these policies. and so no such things like energy transition, i think should be able to be able to very carefully by congress to whom they are addressed well invested. thank you so very much for making time. it's been a pleasure talking to you the
9:59 am
the you for this to consider as those here as for the this instead of both, i'm not going to be on the plus get your bama. dora slash pursuing the flash. yeah, because i moved enough. i just wonder was it was just a little after much me on this lovely. they quoted level of symbol, which is good for those who will need to be moved
