2:00 am

2:01 am
out the cycle that many millions of russians nationwide who have come out the cost to have both in that direction. he also made a point to sign those in the new and baffled regions of russia on the costs of the director, the crating and shutting, thanking them for coming out and causing that boats as well. despite the terrorist attacks. and you and i already know this, well, the citizens living in these territories have shown not just civic majority. they show coverage and continued to show it. no one as i thought, assumed and said recently, no one intimidated them. and it is impossible to intimidate people. so it is when or take all of course, and as you just heard from my colleagues, rory vitamin sutton has left his opponents far behind the candidates all winning at less than 5 percent of the vote. communist parties, big life hearts and all of is in 2nd place for the new people. parties let us off 7 top running to the 1st time trailing in the course. the reaction is to be coming in thick and fast,
2:02 am
all around the world. that 60, literally, that is a global south, no surprise, the seo the bricks, the s c, and all of them wishing well wishing very much congratulations and wishing good luck to vladimir putin. but as you can imagine, we're covering the special election here for most special studio here in the heart of moscow with many more details. still the a very good morning and a very well welcome to our special election studio here on the heart of most go. i'm role research a with my colleague rachel ruble. what a few days. it's been with a land 5 victory for vladimir. absolutely 3 days of building a historic election in every sense of the word. nearly all the balance have been counted. as we've been saying, vladimir putting has come out the clear winner. no surprise there. 87 percent. he
2:03 am
will leave the country for the next 6 years. yeah. well that's the more about this . now, of course, you will have to the rush of central election commission headquarters. now let's a drawing all these shot at duplicate details on this because it's been such a busy morning, not just for all the election. observe us on those, counting the ballots, but especially for our very own charlotte duban sky, no doubt of the widow, charlotte. can you tell us about the latest you? yes, that's why diverting accounting is still continuing us, right? russia but a tiny number of votes that haven't been counted. we can tell you that the official tale so far is 99.7. 1 percent of all the pilots cast have been counted and verified by the election commission here in russia. and as you mentioned, it's clearly a long slide waiting for the incumbent. president, lot of my preaching, who will take now as to, as president of the russian federation taking he's to him up to around 2013. so
2:04 am
another 6 years or the tool came through. so some of the details and some of the figures that we've got throughout the night, which of really gives us a sense of just how incredibly huge this was. the election was especially not only the largest country in the world, but in terms of boasting power. so many people coming out to vote accounting that we've had almost 83000000 people voting in this election. that is putting quite a bit of those 11 time zones. also people voting online. and of course sions, citizens booting inch and this is all around the world to make sure that the voice was heard in this election and was not him approved in his clean, being given an incredibly strong monday fine of russian citizens for this next to him as president, tell you a little bit about some of those who she'd be seen this selection, we're going to start off with the communist policy. now,
2:05 am
who came in 2nd to know when you look at the big is and you say, oh well, you know, then you go 4.3 percent of the folks that tallies just 3700000 people, boosted for the communist party here in russia. and that gives you a sense of how strong the bases to when people talk about, oh if it wasn't like me preaching who was standing, perhaps people would go for western type parties. know the 2nd largest policy. and this selection is the communist party with 3700000 folks. been in the place. we've got a completely new ton did it. this is a guy called devon, done because who is a business when he's never stood for election before staging this selection for the very 1st time. he's come foot with a some 3300000 people casting the ballot in his favor. so it just gives you a sense of what the type of people that russians are looking for who they've gone
2:06 am
to the polls to vote for. now this was an election of 1st, i've talked about this throughout the night, but i just want to say this again. this is the 1st time. this is an election that is being held over 3 days. this is the 1st time the full meet incorporated regions which able to vote in the presidential election. and this was the 1st time a presidential election has been held since the constitution was amended in 2020 and it was due to the amendment the allowed slap to, to the incumbent president, to run again and tools to secure the space, to the main office. now in terms of election statistics across the country, they've been over 94 hours and electro positions set to box. i'm right in front of a screen that we was showing last night, which showed people from around 50000 of those voting stations. actually going to
2:07 am
vote, they set up the surveillance cameras, so they were h 2. we can watch people going in to the electro booms and saying, hey, this is the 1st i want to vote for. obviously, we don't know who the voted for, but you can see everything is that transparency around the election that we've heard from many of the international service to being in russia over the last few days watching this election plant. we also heard about and attempted to attack on the online voting system. some 5000000 people use that system to vote for the president you. they wanted that to be and we heard from the chair of the electoral commission, this is a l at palm silver, who said that they had been attacked. so not she blamed those attacks is coming from the west. and obviously we saw other incidents taking place. but just one fun fact i want to bring you. i found out that no, any people go to the votes on by transport normally. but skis are the full spots
2:08 am
they used as a, a method of transport taylor in russia. they're really quite like dice of chickens . my pharmacy, somebody on this is heading to the podium station to cast ballots. yeah, i guess when you, when you imagine that all the different 11 time zones all across the roster and all different climates you have here as well, you know, the spring is not here across most of the regions of rush or a lot of snow as well. still in many parts of no other russia. so i think kudos and congrats to everyone who's come out the cost that balance the numbers really speak for themselves. and charlotte, you've been broadcasting live during the selection of all all night. so well done. you appreciate your hard work. i loved that taking skis on horseback to make your vote count that shows how motivated people are. all right, thanks to charlotte. what was the counting near a completion, vladimir put and held a news conference at his election headquarters say new craney and attacks during the vote failed to intimidate voters, a database to just get the despite the terrorist attacks. and you and i already
2:09 am
know this. well, the citizens living in these territories have shown not just civic majority. they show coverage and continued to show it. no one as i thought, assumed and said recently, no one intimidated them. and it is impossible to intimidate out people. there are turnouts, both in the new territories, and in the border areas, the turn out is even higher than in the rest of the country. it's simply a response from the people to the actions, trying to intimidate them, because they're supposed to do it. don't understand who they're dealing with, but in part, maybe it's a good thing that they don't understand. because in this case, of course, they will be defeated. now they are trying, again, trying to get somewhere there to enter. they were destroyed. almost 100 percent of them were destroyed. they moved forward by 100 meters. 25 tanks were destroyed. the enemy has concentrated a group of around $5000.00 in the border area. not directly on the state borderline but somewhere in their immediate rear. but the overall loss is about 40 percent of
2:10 am
these about 35 percent r, irrevocable, $25.00 tanks, dozens of armored vehicles and so on. if they like it that way, then in principle, it suits us because they mindlessly attack. it's such a meat grinder for them. it's even beneficial for us, let them try. no, he did focus heavily on the military operation in ukraine because of the rule, even though he has schooled a landslide victory here in russia, in the so called new regions, is that have just recently become part of the country that he's figures in the 90 percent territory like and then that's gonna look guns, republics, for example, and allowed them to put in the russian liter has well made it very explicit that he realizes what it means that he realizes that people are happy that they are approving of the fact that flatter my booty decided to take this step and defend them and send the russian army to defend them against the key of regime. and so he really is, is the version that it puts on his shoulders at the same time,
2:11 am
the voting in the russian border regions. and i'm talking about the border with human brain, very happened to the tune of terrorist attacks that how well they range from terrace trying to reach and to, to in then to russian, tad for you to just real emphasis showings, terry showings of strict disability in areas in towns like the town of bell good, i'm glad i'm approved and he did not say explicitly, but he did do kind of hinted at the fact that the if these showings continue, if you creating continues in this with its terrorist ways than well, a time will come when russia will have to create a buffer zone. he, again, he abstained from saying that russia would have to grab any more land, for example, in the heart of region which borders the russian belgrade region. but he did say that the need for this buffer his own the well, it is growing by his in minutes. he also talked about into an old russian affairs.
2:12 am
he talked about his political opponents and his vision full rush at the same time. let him approved. he was confronted by western journalists by an american journalist with the question about the death of alexi, nevada, a political figure in no position fig. who in the west, many viewed as of latimer pollutants, key political opponents set to go. it was a few days before mister and i've only passed away. some colleagues told me not administration officials, some people said there was an idea to exchange mister invalid me for some people who are in prison in western countries. you can believe me or not. the person who spoke to me had barely finished his sentence, but i said, i agree. but unfortunately what happened happened only on one condition that we exchange him so that he doesn't come back, let him sit there, that's all. but it happens. there's nothing one can do about it, that's how life is. if you want to know my opinion on whether our elections are democratic or not, i think they are democratic. conversely, in some countries,
2:13 am
for example, in your country, can it be considered democratic to use an administrative resource? in order to attack one of the candidates for president of the united states, including using traditional authorities, we have no preference for any of the candidates for president of the united states of america. we will work with whoever the voters trust, but the use of administrative resources, the judicial system. it's just to become ridiculous and a disgrace to the whole world for the united states and for your democratic so called in quotes system. as you're more than interested, i have every reason to believe that we do not see any democracy, at least during the electoral processes. and some western countries, including the united states today for foreign relations, came into focus as well. and especially russia's ties with china, vladimir food express, the cordial nature of relations. and he made it very, very apparent that he is intending to stay on this course and to, to continue to strengthen the ties between the most cool and big ging at the same
2:14 am
time a lot of my food and also acknowledge the fact that the western partners they have been doing their best to right. so the internal political situation in russia. in fact, this was something that russian politicians of various colors had been cooling at the western partners out about and likely the russian for administer, sergei laboratories, accusing, openly, accusing wesley diplomats over taking steps towards meddling in rushes at internal affairs. this was something that i asked vladimir putin about because of the rules . after all these athletes, he gets this mass of land slide when even bigger than during the previous elections . so i asked him if he believes weston powers would draw any conclusions out of the situation that the old, the f, it's terribly terribly backfired for them to take care of the reception. after all, these are not completely stupid people sitting in all the institutions that have been working against our country for decades to do you know what their problem is?
2:15 am
in my opinion, it lies in the fact that after the collapse of the soviet union, there were a very large number of specialists on the soviet union who could not do anything else, but fight the soviet union. and then with the russia that arose in part of the territory . so they began to convince their political leadership and the public of their countries that they need to continue finishing, rush off, and in such a way that they themselves will not be left without a job. but still new generations of specialists are coming. they realistically assess the events taking place. i think they will be more sophisticated, but they will not change their goals with regard to russia. paula, the media conference was rather expensive and lengthy, but after you've wrapped up with john, let's how to john. so to fix the brain of the trip is called for who is the spokesman for the russian president? and he reveals that the flat of my putting does not intend to celebrate simply because he has no time to do so. his schedule is passed and he already has several meetings planned, including the meeting with the russians, military leadership. at the same time, he reveals that they are working on a 4 and
2:16 am
a visit on a 4 in trip for a russian president. he hasn't had too many of those uh, in the past. in the past few years, he even went as far as saying that the know what country vladimir pooty is set to travel to. but he still just showed of revealing the name of the country we will. of course, we'll have her to see. but vladimir prudent, of course he has 6 years as ahead of him as president. so he has a new tab and with the new figures of support, with the growing support he's bound to keep the country on the course, he has received confirmation that the nation is very approving of what he's doing. so he will carry on doing so. but maybe with renewed vigor, right, we have a special guest joining us in the studio right now. fresh from america, steve, gil political commentator to radio hosts. you are actually one of the international
2:17 am
observers here during the russian presidential election. you join to some 700 other observers from a 109 countries who came to russia to help over see the vote. we were talking about it just a few minutes ago. all your impressions of the talk to us about what you saw while they were about 10 or 12 in my group. we were in some are and there was a representative from bulgaria. there was one from bosnia they were me and another american who was one of my partners and then we had 3 from venezuela. so it was, it was an eclectic international think. and what we saw was, i think, what, uh, what other observers have said that they saw very efficient, very competent, very well trained, poll workers. the process is very transparent. not only do you have, in most cases, the plexiglass boxes where the polls are drop, where it is literally transparent, but increasingly using the electronic counters. and then you have the cameras that the people can see all over. what's transpiring during the voting and,
2:18 am
and during the counting and, and that's, i think that assures that there is a clear, transparent process. now western media is saying, yeah, the, the process is fair, the process is transparent, but they are intimidating and forcing people to vote for food. and then i didn't see it. and i didn't see cnn or the wall street journal, but the new york times or fox news, they're observing. and so i'm not sure where they're getting of their information with the stories. i think they write the stories before the election. i, i think i, i see i'll just sort of just sort of sky before they're coming out and saying, well, the russians are routing around that improved it, but clearly put, has cooking in the book. i mean, you know, this is like the style and the narrative. we're getting out of the west and press. i mean, look, i might surprise, you know, are you surprised? you know, i was in, in september i was in don bass. i was in the and that's going to be scenario people and they were saying the same thing. they were writing that that was elections were sham elections. and again, there were none of the reporters that were there. they were just making up as they go. i think is a couple of reasons why the numbers are so big 1st. you know, if your countries, 100 tech, people are going to run around the leader. but the economics when you have 2.6,
2:19 am
g d p, when you have 7 percent inflation, i think it was 1500 percent when put in 1st came into into office. you know, i looked at the, the street so i look at the buildings, the cranes everywhere. the economy is driving, despite the sanctions that supposedly have brought russia to their needs the same reporters. they apparently haven't been in the gloom department store for grocery stores to see what has really been creating a more powerful economic russia. because much of what rushes now producing food wise and other thing that you're importing before. that's what now you're making it here. when this ends and it will, in russia, is going to be more powerful economically, more powerfully, politically. and i'm disappointed that on both the us and western side and, and to some extent on the russian side, there's not more discussion and movement on what's next. it will end, it's time now to maybe start preparing for what next, how do we, how do we reconcile and, and move forward. because from the us standpoint, in my view, it is politically and the internationally invalid, terribly dangerous,
2:20 am
to keep pushing russia closer to china, closer to india, closer to saudi arabia, creating breakfast more powerful power will have the opposite effect. steve is, yeah, i mean this, this, this is, this was astonishing to me. so all professional partners in the west of been basically trying to break rushes neck for a number of years. now economically, they want to create regime change every single narrative, every single narrative out of the west and present political landscape is and see russia is and see persian, they've sanctioned this country more than any other nation in the world. what's going on? as you say, russia has internalized. it's not just dividing, it's the right thing. i mean, this is a new time for this country. right, right. and then china is taking the place. mean i'm looking at chinese automobiles . i was again and done best in september. all the new apartments that are being put up, all the roads are being constructed. those are all chinese companies doing it to be american companies could be western european companies. there is money being left on the table, not to mention the consulate and the chaos between nations. that has been created
2:21 am
and steve, to your point about the literal transparency of the election here in russia with the transparent ballot boxes. going back to the 2020 us presidential election, which, which i covered. it was several days before we even knew who was going to be president . i remember the vote counting was really chaotic and there were still many questions you know, months later about the vote counting. that's not the case. now we knew fairly quickly who was in the lead and what the results for, you know, you'll put and took a job at the us presidential race when he spoke last night, pointing out that donald trump is coming under enormous administrative pressure there. well, the state of democracy in russia looks much better in cameras and in comparison, again, that's a word that you don't hear the western media talk about when they talk about with the rest of they don't talk about democracy. talk to us about that in your impressions. and that i have to laugh when i hear that if, if you oppose put and you will be jailed, you will be taken off the ballot. i'm going wait a minute. and that was what we're trying to see done by the democrats to donald
2:22 am
trump. that if you oppose booting your political adversaries will be killed. like some like 45 different clinton officials died mysteriously. yeah. so, so that's what i think, even the president of salvador said the us cannot criticize other people's election process and, and attacking political opponents when you're seeing what happens in the let me see, let me look, you want me, but perhaps about showing our age here. but we know that the us as meddled in counsellors selections worldwide, going back a 100 plus years and yet they always say are hands a clean. we are the beacon of freedom and democracy. but all the other guys are your bad. i mean, i think people are waking up to what is essentially a narrative of b. s. the continues to come out of washington. i mean, honestly, maybe i can hard when it comes to foreign policy, especially. i can hardly believe a single word. they say, well the senator schumer is telling me is right, these they need to throw benjamin netanyahu out of office. how's that? not election mentally and, and again, that we will criticize others for what unfortunately our,
2:23 am
our government is doing. but i will say that whether it's been and done best in september, where some are, some are here, whether it's in moscow, the russian people have had been incredibly friendly and hospitable to me and the other americans that have been part of the observations. people get along, you know, the american people don't hate russians that i don't get any feeling that russians have some hatred for americans. governments don't get along the people doing the more we can get people involved in this process. perhaps the sooner we can move past the counselor. yeah i'm, i'm an american as well and, and i don't get a sense here that people hate americans. in fact, when they find, i'm an american, usually the, the, the answer is, oh wow, that's amazing. how do i love america? you know, talking about the criticism from the west even before the election began. we heard from the west, i'll just in the media, but the western in west western government saying this is a sham, you know, it's a putting, you know, is that gonna rig the election? this was a record of breaking result for putting in as we've been talking about all morning and all all night last night. record number of people came out to bill. i have
2:24 am
a hard time believing that russians would not come out to vote. and those numbers, if they didn't trust to the voting process itself, what are your thoughts about that? and then what does it say about the aspirations of the nation that we saw such a huge turn out in the selection? well, and i was asking people in the, some of you know why or to even day one, they were getting 30 percent turn out by noon on the 1st day of the 3 day voting. and i had one gentleman tell me what it is, my civic duty, it is my duty as, as a patriot. and i support president putin and my vote for him is like shaking his hands and saying thank you job well die. so i think that's part of that grant when you're being attacked from outside, that's the motivation when the economy is good, you want to keep it going. but you know, republicans and democrats in the us try to claim a mandate if they get 52 percent of the vote, they don't get close to 90. yeah, he really is, are we, we already looking at land slide here despite some of the west impressed already saying, well, he's got to be the criminal is going to be cooking the books. and as i said before, is predictable it's, it's boring. just get off that horse and try and find
2:25 am
a new race that got into, i mean, guys, that's let's, let's see. i mean, you know, a 1000 international observers from over a 105 countries worldwide. i mean, steve, this is one of the things that i had a problem with when i, when i was here 24 hours ago, all these different election absorbers kept coming to the studio and they kept telling me everything they've seen is legit and everything they've seen as transparent, and i'll come on that must be something wrong that must be some problems or aspects that you can complaint. no, really we talk about come on them must be put notes. and steve, it's, you know, i don't wanna sound like, you know, they're all wearing rose kind of gloss is because the west is going to go all you guys just poking out of your assets. but the fact of the matter is, a 1000 observers, a 105 countries, the rule, same positive things are old quoting the election transparent i visited about 15 to 17 polling places over the couple of days. so that was in tomorrow, and it is remarkably similar, the same set up, the same operation. very, very committed and, and very much following the rules. look, i've,
2:26 am
i've been involved in politics for a since i was 12, i've been a candidate, i've consulted, i've run campaigns, worked on campaigns, and i've looked at it both when i was here before and then again, this time of, okay, how would i cheat not try but how would i check? yeah, i can't see it. i was concerned it 1st. i thought that they had numbers on the ballots . that corresponded when they were checking people in the balance are numbered with what they're writing it because i was thinking, well maybe you need to rip that off. so there's not a i haven't seen any way that i could cheat. and if anybody can figure it out, it would be me. i just wonder if, if what if the west would support rushes, democracy rush, this election process if they agreed with the outcome. you know, we've, we've, we've manipulated outcomes for a long time all over the world, and then, you know, we turn on our friends very quickly. um, you know, i think you can ask the s, the afghanistan, translators, that when the us left, we abandoned them. when we looked at the and other countries that we work closely with that leadership, when it no longer serves our purposes or when the economics change,
2:27 am
we put zalinski in office at a time that he really didn't even speak ukrainian. so we, we manipulate him playing into much other people's business when you see present putting, getting nearly 90 percent of the vote. it's time for us to put on our, you know, big boy bridges recognize that the russian people support him key. so we need to deal with and we need to find a way to deal with them the same way that whether it's binder trump that gets selected other will leaders need to take to get the able to, to deal with it. i think probably live better stroller. uh huh. yeah. he's a good schroeder. yeah. put yeah, i'm here putting in the same league when he's endorsed joe biden, texas about that really quickly. as far as the us presidential election coming up. i mean, it could go either way, but that kind of looking like it might potentially be another trump term. do you think that trump would be more willing to work with putting on for later terms than what we've seen with with bite and i think absolutely. i think people who watch and know trump know that he has, he likes personal relationships. he can, he can be
2:28 am
a business guy that your adversary, but he can, he can be a friendly business adversary. and whether he's, i like kim john goon. i like a present put, and i like present. she is that personal relationship and i'd say that to any of these other countries develop a personal relationship because that's what, what drives him even though he's gonna be a tough business guy. he will, this is just to me, so he's a business guy, you know, multi 1000000, a 1000000000. i mean, trump some money guy. right. and here's america with 32 trillion and that, you know, they go to hundreds of military bases. and what is it? is it $900.00 military bases and over a 100 countries worldwide is a huge amount of bases that cost a fortune fusion has actually said that america called a ford to ronald, has many, the basic he said, most of the money that goes to these bases that is actually embezzled. that's what putins that i put and also set in the past 24 hours. you cool america? democracy. he said it's a very, very, very pale version of a democracy. we all know about the ballot stuff. thing that happened in the last presidential election. i mean we, that was c c t, v footage in atlanta, georgia and all the states and america and other cities that showed actual election
2:29 am
workers to a stuffing the ballots. but the western press, just ignore this stuff. you know, i mean the worst impress includes with the, with the democratic establishment, making sure that trump doesn't with this is my concerns. still, even though you've been around a while, you've been in this business for a while. some people are saying they're going to stop trump any way they can. what are your thoughts on that? well then, and again, the comparative transparency your, you have live video streams where people can see the voting and can see the counting in the us. and that the election, they were putting paper over windows, kicking the observers out. the election officials out blocking the view into where the counting was taking place. how. how was that transparency and, and then thousands and thousands of ballots that were mailed in that had no crease . there is no real justification to claim that those elections were not stolen. i think it, it causes the lack of credibility in our process, particularly when we're pointing fingers at others. and maybe you can be the election observer and no, that's
2:30 am
a good idea. so steve goes or of of radios and political commentator. it's a great pleasure having here. thank you very much for joining your thinking well, with intellectual reaction to both the election process and the results coming in as chris live to our cooper corresponded now marina cost reva, to get more on this marina. uh, bring us up to speed on what people been saying the hi, rachel, i'm not sure if you were coming to me. the connection is quite bad. but what i do have to say is that congratulations are poor and then from various parts of the world, except for the west there, soaking. i'll get to them in the 2nd. but so far we have leaders from various countries congratulate them. vladimir fruits and countries like, uh, bolivia to just on those back us on north korea, nicaragua, 100 doris, and the comments we're getting is that this is a convincing victory. also we have the coupon for administer who.
