4:30 pm
protera general, the united nations car han hawk said we are closely monitoring and express our condolences and thoughts to all russians that's from the un uh the cuban government has come from cuban foreign ministry. so as we can down the terrorist attack, which resulted in human casualties and numerous injuries, poland said, we condemn terrorism in any form. those are the words that came from the polish born ministry, bellow roots described. so they went on to say, this was a monstrous terrorist attack that cannot be justified. now it's also very important to note that the ukranian government denies any involvement in the events you rain and russia are in a conflict. but you graham says they had nothing to do with today's advance with the horrendous terrorist attack that has taken place ukrainians denying all involvement. so a lot of questions remain about that strange travel advisory from the us state
4:31 pm
department. the united states and ukraine are denying any involvement, condolences and statements of sympathy and support for the russian people is pouring in from all over the world in light of this horrendous events has we here more details about on the ground, about the uh, the casualties and the discounts uh from the russian security forces and others, we hear about the efforts to contain the fire that resulted. we see more and more risk images from inside the concert hall. so more details coming and i'm sure there will be more of an international reaction as the hours progress. caleb, thanks very much caleb. up and live from new york city with the the global reaction to today's at terrace defense in moscow. yeah, we have been hearing a lot of reaction from people actually out the event at this friday evening. and a lot of them saying how lucky they were to escape of at with their lives. not just
4:32 pm
from the shooting but from the subsequent fire as well. part of the roof collapsing in all, not huge concepts at venue, some $6.00 and tickets sold for that. a lot of people trying to escape up once. let's take a listen at to one of those. i witnesses. it's an issue she wished to meet you. so much and began closer to the epm you, which was most consignment was really of a quote which again, much obviously to blush whole concept, whole initially apparently oh, at the 2 charities between one and suite service. so what these are looking look like. they were from the coal cause is ran into the story and then it turned out they said that were a new issue. the high bi weekly victims that he stands and 20, they started moving in from the left side of the stalls, showing people started running out 1st. we heard some glasses, although we much on them, but we didn't think much of it. then we heard 3 shots and screams. yeah,
4:33 pm
that's cause we're actually for, i'm telling you me a call with a score was there's almost as reported to me by a friend, and i just live across from this place, the stadium smartphone, a gable. and then they started shooting people over a $170.00 was one to think about what is dead. i think the, the, the, the casualty is number is kind of describing dining on route 50. it now is a roof of the 3 is completely right down the fire inside the start to do this 3 or 4 to resign. yeah. send me where insides it with a story on bethany and the other 3 were hiding the city of them and the biggest shopping, the disco nearby. uh you're the last one you especially if, even if i think it was the sooner they got in from outside, because just 2 minutes to get to the concert, hold from outside the security personnel. that's correct. cool. the doors to with
4:34 pm
has no weapon. this to protect the people and themselves. station looks good. what else can i say? so yeah, one of the many testimonies we'd be hearing from people in attendance, us dot com. sidwell, joining us live, know onto the program to offer his reaction is finished journalist than ever youngest, but come in young, it's good to see you. of course, at not under the circumstances, we would have liked to be speaking to each other, but your immediate reaction to what has in full that today in the russian capital. 40 people believed to have been killed by a series of shooters in a concert or rena surgery. the big tragedy. oh, very, very unfortunate events taking place. we were expecting something to happen. 2 weeks ago. we heard from several western countries,
4:35 pm
a different kind of warnings that uh generally snap attacks are expected into most glow region. but these kind of very, very brutal at tech useful course. the shopping news. i have been watching all these videos and materials from there and what i see on the place, which was a mandatory team, they will very calmly. they told me to keep the decencies, they showed all the short bears or single flyers. there were no streaming, no, like these kind of like crazy people's reactions for actions. they were brutally cold blooded murders who knew how to use automatic weapons. so what we are talking here, a piece of political at that for sure. like people to get are doing such things. maybe with the radio connection seems here, they're yours. but what we saw was
4:36 pm
a planet, very heavy relocation to full rush on who does not point to in your opinion, we completely understand that investigation is just be gone into this. but the situation that it's happening in the timing just after the russian presidential election, there had been at us on the other embassies warning about a possible imminent attack in the last number of weeks in, in moscow. and now we have this deadly event. who does this point to young's? oh, we saw the 1st to the video from the between people and, and that person, i didn't know if that he was the government or somebody involved in the unit. but he was certainly, you know, and, but it's very early to go jump to conclusions and we have to wait for the touch on
4:37 pm
the ground. but to what i saw was in europe and man, and i'm a basically take a 50 percent off the issue a way you're not talking about the middle east. we have seen such kind of horrible doors from the muslim terrorists from the life histories. but what was the change in the wrong you was searching the european. so when we go to the fax, what we can see from the ground to get there, we see a military team years do the web, the web. but as, as i saw, you said already. so what i want blame on is that this is connected to a grant in conflict for sure. are who are these people from cray or phone from the russia that we certainly don't know, but it seems like to be a european not that not alone, like crazy people doing crazy stuff, but organized where a professional team. this is the thing though,
4:38 pm
you talk about it in a miller tries manner. honest i did. it does indeed appear to be like that coordinated how composed on the trigger. but they're doing it. they're going in and shooting civilians. i to, i what kind of military person military mom would, would do that. this is not, this is not a tar, a military target at this is not near any military area. this is a cultural event, a music concert where it shows written, where as well we had one guess just a moment ago saying that his daughter was due to be there. but because she was branded, she was in the like 6000 people just going in. it's like a turkey shoot. you could kill at no matter how many civilians, women, and children, whoever, who, who does that of course. so unfortunately in the war and all this is
4:39 pm
2014, we have seen very brutal actions from the national is the really comes from the previous side on the day of the killing in this and see what the as for thousands and thousands in the russian region, and uh, most people we have to remember they are using a lot of drugs, a lot of them. and all of that is, has been going on, sees the, my done, the nationalist are in drugs when they are carrying the weird because they don't, they don't have any emotions like a normal person. even that kind of situation feels they are just executed thing. but of course on the background to get to these kind of things, you have to be very racist, fascist in the nazi mentality so that you don't see humans. you see. and, and you take a mission to germinate those for everything. what moves in front of you,
4:40 pm
and that is the way how they have given thousands of c williams in the rooms region for past 10 years. yeah, that's thanks so much for coming into the program and sharing your expertise with as chief editor of the finish and the late fee publication. youngest put comments like a thank you. okay, our correspondence dawn porter, i believe is joining us live. no, i don't. the last time we spoke the, the fire the flames were at extraordinarily large. it appears from just this picture it's diagnosed in some walk. we saw a helicopters involved. what is the situation us? that's correct. well, the authorities themselves have said that the fire has more or less been gotten under control and we can see that ourselves. so as you can see behind me, the fire is much less then previously when we have seen basically smoke turn into a tornado of flame and parts of the facade of the building falling off embers
4:41 pm
falling onto the ground. but as you can see, what i mean, yeah it's, it's gotten more or less under control, and we're still seeing a helicopters fly by carrying buckets of water trying to help the firefighters and their efforts to get that fire under control. since we last spoke actually unit, and there were reports that those, that special forces had stormed the building, that there were even reports that one of the assailants has now been in. it has been detained as an end is in custody. and that they're trying to now, uh, get ahold of the others as far as, uh, the last time i saw the reports. there were also reports recently that came out that children, unfortunately were among the casualties that we saw come out of this terrible terrorist attack, which the, obviously, the statistics are now at at least 40 people killed in over a 100 wounded. many of them had been transported to the hospital where they're now
4:42 pm
receiving care and that, you know, uh, we also saw, i mean the, the governor of, um, the, or, sorry, the mayor of los gal. so guy and said that uh, over 50 brigades of emergency services were sent here to tackle the situation. paramedics, firefighters, every everyone involved in the emergency services effort. and as a result of this, a number of sporting events that were planned over the weekend and moscow had been cancelled there trying to get to the bottom of the investigative committee. all of our who exactly carried out this terrorist attack who sponsored it. uh, there's still a lot of questions that need to be answered. of course, you know, it is coincidental that just about a week ago or a week and a half ago, the american and british embassies in moscow had warns that a terrorist attack was going to take place in moscow. but since then, the american embassy and the british advocacy have come out with statements saying that the, you know,
4:43 pm
that disturbs the attack was horrible. and that they send their sympathies to the victim. so there's a lot of questions that still need to be answered. and no doubt, over the coming days, we're going to see a lot of the investigation in terms of trying to get to those answers don't. thanks very much chad taking us through that live from where that attack happened at around 8 pm at local time. in russia, in moscow they, russian capital, excuse me, at okay, at, let's us to take a look at what is happening at right now. just another angle from worked on was speaking. and these are life pictures by the way, of just taking a look at some, at what had been highly comp there's, they're trying to put in the ladies at the head spread at 1.2 over at 13000 square meters, 300 plus firefighters at we're working to extinguish at that as well. it just
4:44 pm
on the political sense, the un security council meeting has been called by russia. so at when the convenience at we will of course give you more that on that. okay. at. uh huh. we have been doing for right the number of hours really heartfelt testimony, terrifying as well, from people who are in the concert who a state from their lives, giving us at right on the spot reaction to what had been folded at in their lives with their friends of thought cultured. let's listen to another. i witnessed a kind from of that focus city hall shooting you because you're beautiful, but i was on the phone to 1st floor you next to the entrance to the circle. i was
4:45 pm
with my friend that was supposed to. we're about to enter the auditorium when we heard the 1st shot start occlusal, those know everyone's started the running out for the exits to be trained to come for bugs of the wasn't. yeah, that's, that's a very so serious because thinking maybe something just sale with a lot of noise, but on maternity shut it off. and then 2 more shots followed show and realized everything was running and bad. so everyone's started running to the exit duty. we were trying to break open the doors for, for the good. she had left machine to hang. go next to chrome cuz i don't know what was the cervix if i to know the bay area that well we went to the emergency agency were locked in for another minutes with lost those floors open to the news. people were pushing and the doors were locked. then we're breaking those doors open ticking at them when we've got to nowadays civil corresponding people
4:46 pm
from the, from the whole the, the concert hall, some were running towards the veteran station. if there was an emergency exits used by the musicians, there was a role with the violin. she must have been with the concert with a concert band. this includes very scary all those perhaps during the 1st minutes we didn't fully realize what was happening when we left the building or calmly or she post us was no panic. everyone just wanted to get out the left side. it really is a standing, isn't it? when you see that on the, the sun bite over it from the person who saw it. well, joining us live now on the program, friend of the program journalist and on the list why we'd live from virginia in the
4:47 pm
us. at wyatt's am terrorism on the streets, all of moscow. and quite extraordinary scenes with this. what appears to be a very coordinated militarized attack using automatic weapons and on an audience of civilians. many children among them. your immediate reaction to what occurred today was for if it just the image is the scenes, the testimony is all terrifying. just gives you kind of a glimpse into what it's like to just have no control and a situation. it's terrible. i think my in my secondary thoughts, so our who exactly is responsible for this and i think that's going to be the secondary thoughts of those who survive this and of the dressings in general. now
4:48 pm
obviously we've been monitoring some very interesting statements coming out. going back and forth between john kirby, the white house national security spokesman, who was now disavowed. and the advance knowledge of this terror attack that comes just 2 weeks after the u. s. embassy issued a bizarrely specific warning that said that uh, extreme is had quote, imminent plans to target large gatherings in moscow including concerts. um, when he was asked about this uh, you know, just in, in the last couple hours i, kirby said that i don't think that was related to this specific attack. which is kind of a bizarre way to explain this away as though there was some other terrorist threat of which the united states intelligence community was aware. but that, that was not related to this attack. uh, that seems to be the,
4:49 pm
the official line coming out of washington right now, which is almost difficult to believe that the foreign ministry spokes on i'm or is i rover of russia has asked for any potential evidence that the us might have, has, as actually demanded that, that the past along which i think is a reasonable, rational request. given the very bizarre, a parent for knowledge that it seems like the united states and united kingdom had it just the point died watson, kirby actually said the us had declared it sees no evidence. ukraine at was involved very early to come out with that statement. essentially in our and a half oscar it. and it is hard not to to think that nobody is i'd be so that's it was some sense of, as you said, you had embassies including the u. s. embassy saying that
4:50 pm
a terrorist attack was at perhaps imminent in moscow, a know immediately after the attack. ukraine was definitely not involved. we have no evidence to suggest that say's at the white house. it just seems old very peculiar, and it is very peculiar. and we have actually members of the premium review now, making these kind of accusations that this was some kind of inside job that the russian government itself orchestrated this. they say in some kind of big to generate consensus for a military mobilization, all very bizarre allegations, obviously no evidence to support any of done. and you know, specifically, you know, we're seeing different things coming out of different officials. but an interesting post was made by the lensky advisor make out that all the act who wrote in the past
4:51 pm
couple hours on twitter that ukraine certainly has nothing to do with the shooting slash explosions in focus city hall. it makes no sense whatever. he said, you went on to claim that ukraine has never resorted to the use of terror as methods. it is always pointless. unlike by the way, russia itself is said um. and he noted also that long before the events encroached as city hall, we had heard public warnings from foreign embassies stationed in moscow about the possibility of such bloody excesses, which is an interesting way to refer to a terrorist attack. so if you think of bloody excess. uh now i think there are a couple relevant points to be made here. the 1st of which is that it's absolutely absurd to find that ukraine has never resorted to terrorist methods. great is obviously resorted to terrorist methods, including quite recently. last april there was the case of a russian word general is to run by the name flatland to tar skis. was blown up in
4:52 pm
a cafe in saint petersburg in an attack that was widely attributed to crane. in october of 2022. uh, virtually every high ranking ukrainian official was on social media to kind of float after this suicide south bombing. that partially blew up to find me in bridge . i in an operation that by you creating an intelligence that killed 5 civilians. of course, there's also the case of russian activist in general as daria, do you know, who was killed in a car bomb attack, which even the united states intelligence attributes to trade according to at least stories from the new york times. and the washington post. i so this non denial accusation is already very curious, very suspicious, very clearly contains hundreds. um so, you know,
4:53 pm
that's certainly one direction to look. it's very clearly sophisticated operation and not the kind of thing that a handful of alienated isolated people would necessarily be able to pull off on their own. so, you know, while it's too early to, to blame anyone specifically, i think, i will say it is very, a curious the kind of language that we're seeing coming out of less than from the end of the crate. yeah. and a lot of characteristics on fat look, tries operation. it does appear. and just as we, we were at speaking there, you were talking wyatt's. we were looking at some of the incredible images. you know, i'm, i'm reminded of, you know, over the last number of weeks, months, it's actually not a day goes by that a. and we see a headline not the f s. b has at stopped a terrorist attack or, and something similar like that we, we kind of take it for granted. you know, that,
4:54 pm
okay, uh huh. they did this, they stuff that's, it just goes to show what happened today. the sheer amount of pressure that's the russian security service is under. i'm dealing with absolutely. and this is kind of a prediction that a lot of us aid early on in the conflict with ukraine was that as ukraine gets increasingly destroyed on the battlefield, is it's increasingly unable to compete to measure up with in terms of either numeric capacity and either in terms of numbers of soldiers, amount of ammunition, or whether it's in terms of willpower, whether they're simply being broken by stretched and stretched then and, and, and having them around broken, i should say this kind of a tendency to, to reverts to more extreme methods and more extreme tactics is i think fairly
4:55 pm
predictable in some senses. and you know, that makes it obviously all the more important for the restaurant officials who were trying to sniff out these spots. and all the more important that those state actors did have some a parent or knowledge that something might occur. come clean and tell us exactly what they didn't know. and if it wasn't referring to this incident, then what incident, where are they referring specifically to? why just before you go, we have we have a minute left, but i just want to get your thoughts on this. not something like this happening. you know, an attack on civilians cold blooded didn't care who they were killing. this wasn't the military target. does this finally give pause to those thinking about of that? and i'm going to say that it a ukrainian link to a talk this if it's not find out, i'll apologize. okay. but if it is,
4:56 pm
does not give pause to people in the west thinking that you know that we're, we're an equal funding here. rush it, does it, ukraine, does it? what rush it data over the last few days was attack energy infrastructure, trying to kill at areas of the energy sector that is helping ukraine's war efforts. it goes, it saves constantly, it does not talk civilians. this was the very office that aspect of this. do people have to perhaps think about who they're supporting in this company? well, i would certainly hope that they do. although from the media coverage we've seen so far, there's not a whole lot of reason to believe that they will have to do that. but they will have to reckon with the reality of the, the nature of the ukrainian armed forces at this point. and the nature of that entire regime and of their backers in the west. i think people who haven't already recognized that aren't going to get that from the news coverage that we've seen.
4:57 pm
because they are obviously not going to portray this as in any way wait to ukraine. uh, the only the only coverage i expect to hear from them in terms of this linkage is to reprint, ukrainian denials and reprint these american denials on behalf of ukraine is preemptive denials. and potentially, you know, dismiss any kind of russian objections as russian propaganda. as you know, pop, it's the same kind of tactics that we've come to associated with people who okay, for whatever reason, i come to agree with the rushing perspective on any of these incidents so far. uh, so i'm not, i'm not terribly optimistic for those people. i think they've kind of built up the, a screen as a shields to keep out any competing information and to maintain that kind of worldview. but there are plenty of people in the world who will recognize this for
4:58 pm
what it is who will look at the pattern, will look at the the, the pattern of denial i should say, that we saw from the united states, especially in terms of the noise stream by names, when we heard these threats, these warnings, you know, if russia invades ukraine, there will be no more north spring. that's what biden said point blank. and then lo and behold, there was no more north stream. uh, you know, there's only so many curious glances coincidences like this that you can witness before you start to perch up and ask what's really going on here. why? thanks so much for coming the program and sharing your view with his journalist and list wide read live from virginia in the u. s. one, i witness the scribe defense stroke. a city hall in moscow where terrorist opened fire leaving over a 100 casualties of at least 40 dead. this is what was witness. it's
4:59 pm
a choice. we're small some. yeah. for us going round, especially outcome systems that we could see, jen michelle in the last the whole thing is considerably around currently at the 4 door through should i used to. one of the service rep is usually on the back door virtual is, is she on the left hand side much 5 of them. the more i knew that she had it was a 100. so it was today's the 3rd and from the relation. and besides, we use this old show who can to use it outside the word crap, but we make sure we're doing it didn't sound very serious. thank your gunshots and screams, get us, cause of we're okay. it says, uh what i'm telling you. as i've heard this from a friend, which is that over time i live across the, from the city to, from, from the city question to the state. if it's more sort of gave when they started to see. ready people that have been off for over
5:00 pm
a 100 feet where you're almost without the thing to say because it is now described in the shadow focusing on the dead now is a just force to, to move has birds through not sure, you know, the fire is inside the building now and then they started shooting people, 3 or 4 terrace were inside. you want it or you the remaining 3, you were hiding within the vegas something more nearby. uh 50 to 60 minutes away on foot, just as soon as i think they go on in from outside. he goes, it only takes 2 minutes and you let me see which ones that card from uh, the street. and you can see the security guard. so those are the doors to has no weapons yet to protect people selves, station what. what else can i say? did you like she would be good use? oh, go for thousands or even running out of concepts of people and i guess some point
5:01 pm
question across the page to.
