10:35 am
and we feel too that summer should be a safe time and fun for all children and people and therefore we sponsor projects throughout the country from seattle to michigan to chicago all over our country to make those people in our country and enjoy the summer just as you are trying to do here in the city of san francisco, so for all of the sacred heart schools doing projects around the country we thank you and sister davis and her family and the city of san francisco and to help you make this a wonderful summer. thank you. ourselves a hand of faith. (applause). >> sometimes in our lives, and especially as a preacher and a pastor i am never at a lost for words, but right now i don't know what i can say about this particular man who means so much to not only the city, not only the board of supervisors, but especially he means so much to district five. what can i say about this man who walks with us in our rallies, who comes to our homes, who helps us in our projects, and who even gets down in the dirt and help us plant flowers in our houses and neighborhoods to beautify where we live? what can i say about this man
10:38 am
whom is the model for all supervisors in not just san francisco but every city in northern california? what can i say about this man? other than welcome, our supervisor district five ross mirkarimi. 10:39 am
organizations and most of the youth that are here are from district five and the western edition but it is also a growing family, a impressive growing family and just one year ago we were here and did not know what the word mo magic was and if it wasn't for the persistence and tenaisity of the community partners today we wouldn't be here for the second annual summer show case. this isn't just about non violence and restorative justice. this isn't just about hope and having fun in the summertime. this is about community. this is about building community. this is about doing something with consistency and love and being able to shine in city hall and broadcast exactly how we feel
10:40 am

10:42 am
we also know that if a child doesn't graduate high school they have a seven times more likelihood in finding their way into our criminal justice system and all of the pieces fit together and what you are celebrating today and offering to our children and offering inspiration and leadership and that's the way to go and i want to congratulate you all and bring love from the california assembly and congratulate cheryl davis in her center and the show case.
