presidency over the last year. i look forward to working with the board of supervisors. i have to say, being a city employee, it will probably be a sigh of relief as well. it will be challenging to see who our leader will be. i feel confident that the mayor will be as close a partner as mayor newsom was. we want to make sure the students have exactly what they need and working closely with the city. i think we also have some great opportunities with commissioner wynns. i will be sitting on the transition team and we will be sharing the voice of san francisco with him as well. with some of our other large superintendent organizations

through training. once we get more of that information, we want to bring that forward and start the discussion with the board and get everybody involved like we did last year. we have to run a real tight ship and get to the next year. if we all work together, i can do it. i also want to congratulate our new mayor, so we work very closely with the city and we look forward to having that relationship. the district attorney, we have worked very closely before. we look forward to having that type of relationship. we have reduced our truancy by 33%. it takes the entire city working

together to make things happen for all of our children, and we welcome that kind of collaboration. last but not least, it is kind of sad to mention. but this month, january is viewed as violence prevention month. it kind of puts a somber tone on this. we are dedicated to creating a place where all children -- and we can breathe at live that. we can have the head of the student support services department talk a little bit about these. kevin?
