anticipates cutting an additional $83 million, and where as two statewide funding initiatives have been submitted for the general election, and whereas one initiative is sponsored by governor jerry brown and supported by the california federation of teachers and all other statewide management organizations, including the school board association, and whereas the other initiatives in bond corp. debt reduction act is sponsored by the advancement project, civil rights attorney, and the parent teacher association, and by the california school board, and both initiatives would benefit schools by lessening but not eliminating impacts to districts throughout the state of california, and the current

reductions for the school year will result in numerous personnel reductions, and services essential to educating its children, including the increase of classicize, and whereas based on the fact that either initiative passed by the electorate would serve to mitigate the cuts impacting the district and whereas the failure of both initiatives would trigger a $5.5 billion cut it to california schools, resulting in the for the reduction of instructional days for students as well as cuts toñ%rñtv teached other employees, and in the event both of them pass, conflicts would be resolved through legal means and not double taxation. therefore, be it resolved the board of education hereby endorses both funding initiatives and urges voters to vote yes on both of them to

mitigate the continuing free- fall of california's public system to the detriment of the students whom the members of the board are elected to serve and whom the educators and staff are dedicated to serve. be it resolved that this action of the board of education will be communicated to the media, representatives, and the proper campaign. president yee: there were a few public comments on this. michelle parker? linda's gone? >> he had to leave the meeting but she did convey to me --

>> i know i spoke earlier but i am michelle parker, parent of three children in the district. i want to give a heartfelt appreciation for your leadership and the endorsement of these initiatives. it is a necessary and important step to take and we encourage all parents and citizens to vote this november in support of both measures so do we not see more cuts in middle of the year. i put outside on the table a stack of handouts that list what every school will receive if the initiative passes in november. you also receive that on e-mail this morning. he can also go to the web site if you want to look up any school to see what state they're doing. you can also e-mail me.

for those watching it is president@sfpta.org. it received over $55 million in the first year of implementation. that is significant. it could bring classicize back down. and it puts decisions in the local communities and not in sacramento. it is a progressive income tax that would bring $10 billion per year and after the first four years, when a portion is paying it down the debt, the number will grow even larger. thank you for your leadership in bringing this forward. i am excited about it. >> i am not linda but when she
