i just want to say our community is very diverse, and a lot of times we have disagreements, and it can be raucous at times, but there is one time of year when we all come together in june, because we are one who community, and we have to be there for each other, so we will always do that. happy pride, everyone. >> i would like to welcome the treasurer. >> as the treasury tax collector, we bring in the revenue and that is used for aid funding 2 servers communities. i am proud of the work we do,

of us. by supervisor christina olague. >> i am very proud to be living in san francisco. i know this year we will focus on global quality, but i think in order to attain those goals we have to try to achieve those goals locally. we have continued to struggle in making sure this city is open to folks from all kinds of economic are from. -- economic background. a lot of people escaped the midwest or even the central valley to get to san francisco for a place where they can treat common and i think it is good we

for many years congresswoman pelosi had fought a year after year to fill the funding but was cut for hiv aids to san francisco. this year nearly and the board of supervisors of to the plate and restore about funding, so thank you to them. i did want to read from her pride statement. during pride month we celebrate how far we have come in the plight or civil rights. we pledge to keep working to assure our nation lives up to the ideal of equality, heritage, and hogape. we passed a hate crime law and made a historic movement in research and prevention.

president obama made it a policy to no longer defend the shameful events of marriage at. we have all witnessed history last month when the president of the united states spoke out in favor of marriage rights for lgbt couples. goowe look forward to the day wn all are treated equally in the eyes of the law, but more must be done. we must keep up the search for the end to discrimination in the workplace, schools, the government, and our lives. we must protect all americans, regardless of sexual orientation. give we work for liberty and progress for lgbt americans and all americans. thank you. happy pride.

1978 was such a wonderful year. we have been gay community center where we made the first rainbow flag, and the gay ban, and gay koretz, -- chorus, it was a magnificent expression of cultural power. and harvey milk was alive. jimmy carter was in the white house saying human rights are absolute and changing our policies in a war in south america. it was a thrilling time. go all the right messages were happening from all the right people. everything was going great, and we all laugh saying, and reagan will never be president. our work is not done, and it is

going to be harder than ever. 1978 was pivotal. willie brown in 1974 was the first person to change the law so we could become citizens and not criminals. all of that will go away if we do not stand and fight for the liberty, liberation, and freedom and we have. our enemies will fight just to the death, so our work is not done. it is like a rainbow. you cannot see the beginning. you cannot see the end.

ruin. this was in 1987. we imported him from london, and he helped construct a lot of what we enjoy in terms of stability, and many of you also know that two years ago and went through some of the toughest times it has experience to date, and there was one person who really was fighting with the board and not behind the scenes to make sure that private continued to be viable, to move towards financial stability and to find a solution. this has been an unsung hero in our trials and tribulations of someone we are deeply indebted to for all of her work. many hours spent late nights, and someone who has earned the honor, and that person is with

health for the city of san francisco. we know the mayor is on his way. we are going to go ahead and start. this is a proud day for all bus. first of all, i want to thank all of you san franciscans for your support of the san francisco general trauma center. thank you. today, we dedicate your commitment to your own health, your family's help, and the help of all these city. -- your family's health, and the health of all of the city. you can see the new hospital is going up and is already beautiful. [applause] that is more than a building. it is the future of our hospital. and the general has always been a big part of our city, our

past, present, and future. the story of san francisco general started in 1851 san francisco started the board of health. the hospital moved here to potrero avenue. the hospital was rebuilt over the years, offering children's and psychiatric services to respond to the needs of children. in the 1998's, the current hospital was -- the 1990's, the current hospital was built and was one of the first hospitals to open there doors to aids patients. we became famous around the world for that, helping to break the stigma of hiv/aids. the mayor has just arrived. welcome, mayor lee.

[applause] we continue to lead and care for the most vulnerable. just last year, the general became the first hospital in the nation to -- program. the hospital will be crucial in improving the health of our city. we look forward to coordinating all of our services, from primary-care clinics to hospitals, according mental and physical health care. this is what our patients need and deserve. this will bring opportunities to bring services together and improve our research education and administration as well. over the next few years, while the hospital is constructed, the entire health department will be building a seamless health care system to deliver effortless, patient-centered

[applause] >> good morning. i want to thank you all for coming and welcome you to san francisco general hospital for this great occasion. yesterday, we had a lot of children, people from the community, but staff come by. it was exciting to have everyone here during that signing period. it has been challenging building this big structure here in the midst of campus, where we're trying to run a full-service hospital. i really want to think the patients, the neighbors, and the staff for all there patient ande and support -- patience and

support. i also want to thank our rebuilding team designed this beautiful building, to webcorps per the construction part, and two trips for the management part. this really takes a true partnership to plot a project like this. as far as the scale of the building, what is going to look like, it is really exciting. is going to be exciting when we open up our doors in 2015 and moved in. [applause] the hospital is really important to me as a nurse, because it will really, truly be a healing and burn it for the patients and the visitors to, -- environment for the patients and visitors who come.

we will have good lighting for the patiencts and good space for families to visit them, which we do not have to the. we will of pediatric rooms to make those days more pleasant. and i am really excited about our emergency room which will go from a size of 27 beds, in our current emergency department, to 60 beds in our new hospital. and we will be able to go up to 120 in a disaster. i know that is important to a lot of people, including our fire chief, in this capacity. thank you for coming today. >> i wanted to recognize our >> i wanted to recognize our deputy director of health for
