helped push their mode share the something like 30 percent. one of the things that they have done in copenhagen - and there is interest in doing that here - is getting a bicycle counter installed along one of the heavy bicycle corridors. there is private interest in cooperating with the nta and exploring the opportunity. i want to see if it would be okay to see the could have staff take a look at something like that the next four that for future discussion and start to get - explore those opportunities. >> chairman nolan: will members consent will ask mr. reiskin. thank you, ms. boomer. >> director ramos: i know we are trying to move quickly. one more thing with respect to

i look around the country and see what best practices might be there. i am sure that fare inspectors is tough stuff. >> secretary boomer: -- report. >> good afternoon. a few things for you today. first of all happy to announce the couple of awards, recognition that the agency has received, the mtc, metropolitan transportation committee presented the sfmta with excellent emotion award for sf park, and also -- the annual award program the mtc puts on, we were fortunate to be recognized for two different programs.

also eric williams, the president of 258 and i attended an event of the san francisco museum and historical society, when both muni for its 100 anniversary and the market street railway received awards of merit from that society. get to get positive recognition for the history of muni which again came forth last week when the put car 26 back into service. moving on, one bike issue, jfk cycle track that went in the early this year - i know there were a lot of concerns about it. there was a lot of back-and-forth, engagement of different stakeholders to approve the design and address concerns.

we have gone back to conduct a survey to see how the traffic for cars, pedestrians, bikes, people with disabilities has changed since the installation of the cycle track. i will mention also that director rubke and director brinkman and others dissipated in the event last week but on the mayor's office of disability, the independent living council, the walk sf bike coalition to talk about issues of accessibility. we did speed surveys for vehicles and bicycles at two locations, in person surveys, intercept surveys before and

after the installation of the cycle track. holidays are coming up. construction in union square will be suspended in the holidays. it will be reopened from market to geary, especially during the holidays the best way to access union

square, downtown shopping district is by muni, bart, ferries; the best places to catch a cab, or park -- i am missing some of the text here -- we want people to come to the areas where all the holiday shopping happens. we want people to use transit, take taxis, ride bikes. we will resume construction on stockton after the first of the year. for those who have to drive we want folks to use sf park garages, rates are competitive the parking these garages as opposed to being out in the street blocking taxis, muni, while looking for a parking space.

we want to encourage everybody on muni - and really everybody out in the public right-of-way to be aware of your surroundings, to be conscious of what is happening around you. we still have a fairly high degree of pickpocketing, and that sort of activity happening on muni, particularly in tourist heavy areas. people should be mindful and a distracted by portable devices. we want everyone to be safe and want the cities businesses to thrive. church and debose project, last weekend shutdown, we are in substantial completion. the last bit of work that requires a shutdown was replacing track in the portal,

connecting the mainline up to churchill and debose. we had recently found the track in that area was worn, and reduce the speed in that area. the main piece of the remaining work that we were not able to do this past weekend because of the weather was doing the pilot transit only lanes on church between 16th and debose; was the weather clears and we have a good window we will move forward with the public of transit only lane. that pilot is part of the tep, an unofficial pilot of the tep, one of many measures and to improve the reliability of services. we chose this location because it is the slowest segment of the j church; a pretty key area. we want to see what we can get

in terms of improvements. i creating a transit-only lane and colorizing it, sending a strong signal that it is for transit, it is an 18 month pilot. hopefully it will take us lowest portion of that route and speed it up considerably. only there but at 22 and fillmore. finally the partnership for a healthier america which works with the private sector and our first lady, michelle obama, to address the epidemic of childhood obesity, and blue cross blue shield announced the 10 cities will play host to "play streets," and not surprisingly san francisco has been designated as one of the cities. each city will host at least four play street events, by

closing streets and opening them up for kids and families to be out and enjoy the public right-of-way in a different way than just passing through it. very much i akin to sunday streets. they will receive funds and technical assistance. an extension of the sunday street umbrella. probably much smaller than a big center street closure. we will work with neighborhoods to identify the ones they would like to us to close - we had a discussion a few months back about being more friendly to these kinds of activities. that concludes my report. >> chairman nolan: members of the board, questions or comments? >> congratulations on the play

big-time rates, right? the bridge has peak time rates. hotels have peak time rates, called dinner-time. why not taxis? it was astonishing to me to find out that chris hyoshi did not know what the extra buttons on the meter were for. that can be set by time. same at 12 o'clock, who want to discourage traffic. at eight in the morning the press can go up. we don't have to touch it. it's built into the system. you aren't aware of - why not

taxis? if you want to catch a taxi you should stand in the corner not in front of hotels. some hotels operate illegally. drivers know that. my observation, i see lots of traffic being pushed over into two lanes, we have an open late for the buses, but no buses. and we have people waiting on the corner, packed, in every bus that goes by. we need more buses. that's an observation. maybe it'll help the cad industry it will take pressure ,off. >> chairman nolan: we call item 11 and 12 together.

upon the structure the lives and future around the promise of the city of san francisco made to them over a decade ago. why the rush? there is no pressing need for this. you don't have to pass every single thing that comes before you the moment it comes before you. you can say no. as far as item 12, down payment assistance. frankly, people on the waiting list i could not come up with $15,000 the amount that the drivers are required to come up with without several years notice. our incomes are not in that bracket. finally, congratulations. the crowd here is sparse because we know that we found through example that any pretense of honest process is
