[cheers and applause] so today giants fans once again you are all world champions and together we are giants, so we have a wonderful program planned for you today and i know you're anxious to get this started started and bring the guys out and celebrate your 2012 san francisco giants so let's get started. first of all we are joined by a number of special dignitaries who have helped to make san francisco one of the best baseball towns -- no, the best baseball town in america. [cheers and applause] let us now welcome and please show your love and enthusiasm the mayor of city and county of san francisco the honorable

world series champions back in san francisco. what a year it has been. it's been the year of the orange dragon. yeah! . orange october. but you know we have celebrated, we have screamed, we have shouted all year long and once again the giants have captured our imagination and team work and they did the hard work. often we look at sports and we have super stars and we have super stars but there is a motto on the clubhouse wall and it says "25 guys, one common goal,

win today". [cheers and applause] and they certainly live up to this motto. when i see young people, all of the city supporting giants gear it's about the impact of this team. it is hard work, perseverance and hard work and work with each other. did bruce bochy and these 25 guys quick when they lost the first two games against cincinnati? no. did they accept the inevitable with st. louis? no. they carried on with determination and experts and pundits predicted that this san francisco giants was going to the world series and team work

means everyone contributes and we saw those plays and three home runs for pablo sandoval right here in san francisco. [cheers and applause] . buster posey grand slam. [cheers and applause] outside there, yes! we saw the magic of the wonderful catch he did to save the out and jer nee affeldt and come up through the season and crow -- crawford saving the ball and all the pitchers and pitching their hearts out to zito to a felt and in comes romo . [cheers and applause] we needed everybody. we needed every skill. we needed that

great team work so today in recognition of their second world series championship in three years i am proud to present the highest honor we have in this city, the key to the city and county of san francisco to the whole team of the san francisco giants. [cheers and applause] you know we usually give keys to individual dignitaries who have accomplished great things, whether it was the president of ireland or people like tony bennett who has contributed so many of their years to our history, or even a matt cain and his wonderful perfect game in san francisco. we normally celebrate those individual accomplishments but today we're going to break with that tradition and present this key to the entire team and the coaching staff. everybody involved with the giants, the investors, their front office.

congratulations to a team that does not know how to quit, never gives up, and defies the odds at every opportunity. here's to showing the world who it means to play for each other. come on up larry for a key to the city to the whole team.
