we all saw a lot of familiar faces and heard a lot of familiar voices on the parade route today. there were faces and voices which from february through october energized our players and coaches and manager and enabled them to bring home a world series championship. thank you. my favorite sign on the parade route was very simple. it said "san francisco, the happiest place on earth". and we're a happy place today because we see what a team can do in a two way love affair to bring a city and a team together as one. i remember when flying back from detroit on monday as the city flew over the

beautiful city in the bay area we all in the giants family wish we could go door to door to blow kirbs to every one of you to return the unconditional love you provided us selling out all 89 home games and all the wonderful fanses, and i see some of you that traveled withed team, road warriors to make road games feel like home games. you inspired us. we know you filled this plaza on sunday when we were in detroit. we know you cheer friday your couches at home, from your neighborhood street parties and then throughout october with the city we lit up the city. it was a washid orange from coit tower to the ferry building to right here at city hall. what can we take away from our 2012 giants? i believe we can take away life

lessons. vuch teachable moments for our children and our team did face challenges and whether facing injuries or newly acquired players or facing elimination game one after another. what were the life lessons? never give up no matter how high the mountain is to climb. have integrity and conduct yourself with professionalism. did this team do that? absolutely. play with a team with unselfish devotion. trust one another and love your team teammates and in always do so have fun and it's meant to be played as a game, so for the rest of our lives i know this

truly resonates for many of us. for the rest of our lives we will remember this team as a brilliant team, a team of character, a team of chemistry, and a team that ultimately clicked and we developed a short hand around our heroes and our giants experience that will always go on. harsh -- hash tag -- the baby ge raf, the freak, the horse, and the bull and on and on and on. that's what we love about this team. one national writer observed "whatever goes on in the san francisco clubhouse it's not like the rest of baseball". well, i have something to add to that. i

would say whatever goes on in our front office also is not like the rest of baseball. a championship team has an architect and our general manager brian saibian and his incredible staff are the best in baseball. [cheers and applause] he built a baseball operations department that is a model for scooting and analytics and player development and training and conditioning and brian has the perfect partner in executing all of this, and of course it is bruce bochy and his coaching staff. [cheers and applause] the last giant manager to win more than one world series was john mcgraw in 1921, but don't

let bochy fool you with his seemingly easy going nature. the wheels are always turning with him and we can say there is no finer manager in the game today. [cheers and applause] i want to acknowledge the foundation of the giants organization, our ownership group, 32 strong lead by charles johnson. they stepped up to serve as a stalt walt of this franchise and saved it in 1976 and then brought it to san francisco in the first place in 1958. i am proud each owner during the 55 years in san francisco is represented here today. as a fourth generation san franciscan growing up in the richmond district my heroes did

wear orange and black. i watched them with my dad and mays and the other players. they're all here today. i knew their story as well as i knew my own because their stories were mine. they were part of my heritage. my parents passed it down to him just as brandon crawford's parents passed it to him and you're passing it your children and pam and i are passing it our children. all my heroes still wear orange and black. there are those on the stage but there are also other people in orange and black. figuratively if not literally. they are the full time employees of this organization and the 1,000 event employees who work hard everyday to make sure the story of the san francisco

giants, the world champion san francisco giants is an extraordinary one. round for applause for all of the people that work for the giants and so you our fans and the familiar voices and faces. you have become our heroes as well. no team wins a world series without a little manic and that is you, the fans. baseball is continuous. every generation writes its own chapter. how incredible is this? right now right here our second world championship in three years. this is our chapter. [cheers and applause] so to paraphrase hunter hunter pence. let's look into each other eyes and remember the moment. remember this moment.

let's enjoy every minute. let's enjoy what we have together as a team, as a city and a community. thank you. [cheers and applause] >> thanks larry. well, larry mentioned this next gentleman that we need to hear from. here's the architect of this giants franchise in so many ways. here's the longest tenure manager in baseball. he brought his giants to the playoffs six times and five san francisco giants world -- pennants and upon general manager. please welcome brian saibian. >> >> thank you. i didn't think i would be nervous or emotional but i'm all of that right now. i want to thank the city of san

francisco, dignitaries, lumnaries, the hall of famers, the ownership group, the coaching and training staff. today is ground hog day. we have the right to claim baseball heaven. this is the mecca of baseball, san francisco california. i think people forgot this team won 94 games in the regular season in a division that is probably as under rated as any division in sports. beat two excellent teams to win the national league and go on to detroit and unfortunately with detroit with all due respect they didn't know what they were in for. [cheers and applause] you fans, this city, this organization, this team wants all of us, or tries to make all of us better men, better

people, better husbands, better friends. larry alluded to it the life lessons watching these guys perform everyday and we have a phrase for it "feeding the beast". this game is a rugged game and like life you need to put a lot into it and they became teammates and competed like nobody has seen. i am humbled to be part of this. i am so happy for all our family and friends and this is why we do this, and you folks will be etched in time and in history as one of the greatest teams not only in san francisco history but in baseball. [cheers and applause] . you earned it and you couldn't have done it without a hall of fame manager and like you guys great things happen to great people. that's what happened to this team. as good as baseball players they are

and as big as their accomplishments are they're great people and to call bruce bochy my friend or colleague or mentor, or somebody that i cherish our relationship so much that i can't explain. the one thing that we have here that no other organization has is everybody is on the same page. the ownership through the front office to the manager and the coaching staff and to the players. it flows up and down and it's all because of one man and how he's driven these guys together and bochy i can't say enough and you're getting your due and it is long over due. brian. he's got me emotional now. first of all i wanted to let you know we does try to spare you the torture of 2010 by clinching this division a little bit earlier. now with the six elimination games we wanted to take the torture to another level, and these guys did a great job, but what makes this team so special really was their unselfish play, and they showed you that there's no heights you can't rise to when you have did it and without self interest. these guys did it. nobody came in my office complaining or ask

questions. they did whatever they could to help the team win and for them i thank all of them for buying into what we were trying to do and that is win this world series. [cheers and applause] in 2010 i think we characterized the club as a bunch of misfits that got together and got it done. well, if i had to put a tag line and hang it on this club it would be "never say die ". we had key players go down in the season never say die. we got down two-zero to the reds. never say die. we got down to st. louis. never say die. and that last game against detroit was the first time we got behind and they never say die and they ended up

winning the thing. [cheers and applause] now, we had something different to help us. in 2010 we had the rally gong. that game through for us but this here we have hunter pence's sermons and wherever you are thank you hunter. [cheers and applause] but as i was flying here after we beat detroit you have to realize that we're drinking from water -- from the well dug by others. there are so many people that did something here to contribute. the players, the coaches, myself we're in front the tv, but owners with their help. they have such a commitment to make the best experience for you fans and doing all they can, and to

extend the storied history of this franchise and -- as he said we're just not working together as gm manager. we're friends. i can't appreciate more how supportive he's been throughout of this with me. he's the genius that put this talent together to help get this done. to mayor lee, the city of san francisco, to the fans with your enthusiasm, your dedication, your enwaiverring support i thank you. i thank you for always being there. i thank you for never giving up. i thank you for showing up wherever we have been and thank you for making this one of the greatest moments of my life. thank you. matched the verrossity of your adoring devotion. no other way to say it and to allow them to plant a plag and once again they can say it loudly "we are the giants. we are san francisco, and we are the world champions" .
