we started 17 different support groups. but i want to go over next is our resource library. we have a resource library you can go into the lobby. we have outline volumes on disability. you can go to the section on behavior issues and academics and different books in spanish and chinese and traditional academically. we have several shelves filled about developly trios. and they can test the toys out with their child or son or daughter and make sure it's

appropriate to invest in a toy that's effective. we have several people checking out our facilities the books are there on a little night stand table there are is a night stand table you can write our name it in. you night get a call in thirty days if you haven't returned the book people see thing in the lobby and it's a free resource. we encourage folks to check out a book. i also offer information packets were very specific on

disabilities specific to languages. you can download them too. we have one on behavior and autism and we have in 3 different categories. english, spanish and traditional chooingz. we have currently 17 support groups some are disability specific some meet weekly and quarterly. we offer one in particular we're excited about is we're going to start a father support group in english and spanish and we're actually going to have focus groups.

i'll let joe go into the following mentor program. our education department offers a volunteer mentor program we have a mentor on our counsel. we have an initiative training on special ed. they're given homework ahead of time and dive deeply into a program. one month that might be a program on leadership. there's a panel where we bring in john an who came in and spoke on civil rights. we we give them a breech

training on a special ed law they've been focusing on for 8 more so months. we have basically support without influencing and how to keep up confidentially private. we start matching families if you have a child who has is special disability we can plug it into our database and match the families on that criteria. we have a hundred and 20 active he mentors and there's about thirty or 38 spanish speaking members. we're actively seeking out

fundraiser. and last year we had one hundred and thirty something matches. we have educational workshops >> so my second position is a coordinator. this does community base organizations behavior of the parents and giving the folks an overview on rights. we over our clinics at 6363 admission the first thursday ♪ again, we offers those workshops

support so you families with disabilities can't go to a movie theatre that would maybe the light would encounter a seizure so we basically provided throughout the year. it happens tonight we'll be having a movie night and it will be a great activity we take our conference room and convert it into is a that is right and the other small conference room becomes a fun activity room. if the child gets overwhelmed by the a movie they can go to a play room. nobody's really bothered it's

activity with disabilities. the movie we're screening tonight it the moffitt. we also have a newsletter it's put out in english spanish and traditionally chinese and due to the budget cuts we don't do a paper mailing. we have federal reduced free lunches but other than that it's on pdf format on our website and periodically made available throughout our system. and that's pretty sure a quick overview. one other quick thing. we use our support with asthma

maybe there are two large organizations and call called association for chinese families of disabled and there's also friends with special needs and those are mostly the child speaking parents with disabilities. what's interesting is you, you may consider doing like a joint event with a association for chinese fair statements of disabled. once you year the lions club helps them with an event it's a picnic in bentwood. i took my daughter they having had like carnival booths and had

so we work together and what the responsibility is i'll do an assessment with the children on disabilities and that is how they communicate what citizenry issues they may have any kind of issues in terms of behavior management and i'll develop a support plan with working with the parents and develop the strategy and work with the other professionals and in developing the support plans. develop goals and objectives in terms of how they're doing and track them throughout the programs whether it's a camp or general program. i do less sewer programs with

the parents we try to find a small neighborhood camp if they enjoy sports skills we'll look for a skills camp weeping we'll look for where they can help the child get involved in the decision. not just for childcare by help parents without children of disabilities and help them choose camps microbe anything to help the meant make the decisions so the child is happy in the camps >> so a big part of our job is to make sure we have an inclusion this is the photo of a bunch of people there in the

camp. the mold we're trying to get is that we do and it says open the screen we do whatever it takes to help children with disabilities in all aspects of recreation and parks. >> so how the process workings in how inclusion works we do the assessments and such but the parents will reasonable for a register their child or an adult we work with dulls but looking at the children program they'll reasonable for the program and we'll do an assessment and we really promote and our materials are user friendly terms in other words, for our child to have a

successful experience they'll contact the coordinator and have an assessment. sometimes i'll call the parents and parents have referrals. we recently did a presentation and we had 3 referrals from the presentation. we get a lot of new families from presentations from different agencies. we do the statement and the program begins and we'll start to develop a support plan, of course, and once the program begins the supports are in place i'll follow the child throughout their training. and he we'll do the follow-up throughout the summer. we'll do the statement every 3 years as the child matures
