in case you haven't noticed we're less than three weeks away from our end of our school year. in particular i was particularly proud last week that tavern appreciation week was here and we honored our award recipients. as you know all of us in san francisco said thank you to all our students. the celebration of our work of our teachers can't be confined to a week but we're proud to work alongside the teachers to educate our teachers. we are were on may significant we honored our teachers at the at&t san francisco giants home

game. we were extremely proud of our teachers who wore their jerseys and we had them recognized before the crowd. this week we'll be honoring our principle award folks. but i'd like to name the names the teachers award were (calling names) how about a round of applause for them (clapping) this week being honored as our principle award folks are doctor gibson at the

early education school in transitional kindergarten how about a round of applause for our principles >> we are also very honored this past two weeks ago to have a visit from our secretary of education. visited the second middle skull school to meet with the staff as well as the 9 san francisco school districts that were awarded grants. we shared with secretary duncan the students progress and we are

never started from a prospective that the schools or the adult or the children are broken we set a clear violation and the resources that were focused are what we attributed to the triple rate of growth for the schools receiving grant. we're happy that the secretary duncan commented that san francisco is a model for the nation in terms of off how to accelerate student learning. as you know today, the govern realized his revision and we're currently studying it to see how this about effect us. i want to remit the public that while we have lots of predictions we have lots of hope

that we have a better economy. we still don't have is a budget allocation. so until we have a budget allocation we have to be thought of of how we budget. we're going to host a forum and it will talk about the funding education in our schools and what you can do. the forums will be here 555 franklin street and visit our website. there are also flyers for the event where you came back pickup our agendas as well. on a personal note, i had the great opportunity to join staff and over seven hundred roosevelt

students in the restoration run. just think about students who participate in clearing up the beach and they cap it off with a 5 k run. i was privileged to run along the principle at roosevelt and our director or rec and park we did a 5 k. i did have a question as we finished the finish line am i really faster than a sixth grader and unfortunately, the answer is no that's a face group before about it was fun and i want to thank you four demonstrating the achievement go hand in hand.

education teachers represent the creation of the museum coalition and showing all s f d students the richness of the art. no other district allows students and their - film screenings at the art project and, of course, co- hosting the beloved hosting singalong. our students are in the morning going into the community their rather shaping the community. and did i hear something about free publication ben? >> moving our arts to the classrooms has imprisoning our students a new opportunity. while our ties to the community

in the decision-making process of policies and key districts initiative. so we want to take a moment to acknowledge those individuals who made it possible. and starting with our commissioner here this evening. decision-making process that the board of education takes on issues this directly impacts our students we want to take that moment to thank them for their dedication to parents voices. over the course of 10 years we've had 71 former pack members and currently, we have 12 serving on the board and we just did our recruitment process we have 6 new members and we're excited about what they're going to bring to the table. we really want to recognize that each parents came to the table with 0 their expertise and brought in that parents piece
