anniversary mr. carter naming this the most but we're celebrating over a one hundred and 60 years of our struggles and 1 hundred and 60 years of overwhelming the issues and the successes we have here today. when i first come into office when i ran at that time, there was only one member of the board of supervisors who was asian today, we have 5 and we have a asian mayor and we live across the bay from another asian mayor from oakland. we represent the diversity.

but for the triumph of all of you i want to take a moment and remember that we're here to think about the impact of the artists. with you have been stashing not only a vision you're telling the story. and see i want to thank our awe suffering leaders. i want to thank the organizations that that impacted us the asian week foundation and thank you for impacting our communities. and to those of you who have been the final lift for our

lifetime achievement awards (calling names). actually all of you guys are getting the lifetime achievement award but thank you for entertaining us and thank you for being here the warriors have a great evening. (clapping). >> wow. this is a huge honor. my families been in san francisco since the 19 hundreds. many of you know that i'm chinese japanese and i didn't know i was asian because i'm mixed but the family has been here and is one of the founder of the town and my grandmother was a leader in the garment district. we went to the restaurantsful

through the backdoor and i'll plays with the chickens and fish and grandpa would bargain for the sea weeds. but the thing we also went in the kitchen door and in honor of my grandparents i get to go through the front door. you, you know, we stand on the shoulder of giants and i want to thank all the people here. thank you all the committee and all the judges and everybody else who's here i also want to thank my friends and i want to say if it wasn't for tom at the

foundation and stan and giuliani with the foundation and keri and grants for the arts and all those people support our with work i want to thank my husband the artist. there were folks traveling around the country we we've done this. the reason we do the work we do in art i preserve memories and history and you pass down the love of your grandparents to your children and your children's children and it's this love that makes the people strong and when we're strong in love we can all make a better
