thought it was important to walk the commission through the entire gamut of marketing benefits that you will be able to receive to promote the park on a national level. obviously, this is coming up a very sen. there will be plenty of on-air mentions. we expect there will be 4.9 million viewers. but by we are working -- we are working to produce some specific articles on the bay area. and little bit about the history of the property. what to do in san francisco when
10:03 am
you visit the property. we have a pretty extensive national advertising program. we spent nearly a million dollars advertising all of our golf courses specifically. the way that we get this left wrist is that the entire network goes in on a purchase and we leverage the money as much as possible to buy advertising. throughout the year, we will feature different regions.
10:04 am
we produce a lot of collateral. there are many times that we will to specific articles to add to the content on that website. the existing website for harding park will stay the same. we will create a landing page. someone can see this on television. they can click on this and then they can have this updated to the local website. we are moving aggressively to two more digital marketing. we have databases of hundreds of thousands of users.
10:05 am
we are developing a marketing plan that will use the database to make offers to bring people to the park to spend some money and enjoy the property. this is an example of the national exposure that we did recently. this will show you where you will have a banner advertisements, someone will click income and there will be a specific opportunity. we are spending a lot of money and effort on digital marketing so that we can really capture the interest of the coffers of

light to go around the properties. -- golfers who like to go round the properties. local name will be harding park and the fleming 9. we are looking closely at the restaurant. we have a summary overview that we will share with tom and the team soon about a branding opportunities for the restaurant as well. we are looking at doing a grill concept and this will include really a revamp of the menu. we wanted to look at the golf course first and the restaurant

we are mixing and matching the database of those who are coming to appeal the property as well as those who are not residents and are coming in just to play these properties. >> thank you. >> i would like to say that we did meet independent fleeing with -- and we took their suggestions to heart. yesterday at 2:30, we met with supervisor elsbernd. >> so you would say this is in support of the presentation that you just saw? >> absolutely. >> is to any public comment?
10:09 am
seeing none, public comment is closed. >> are you allowing visitors to get green time all the way through? >> rightroh now, the technology does not exist for us to make the link for someone on the national website and that is one of the things that we have identified as an opportunity. this is for a much our intention to be able to coordinate this into the state and played packages that we have. >> will people find everything in one place?
10:10 am
>> there is a division called pga tour experiences. they identify local hotels and they can create the packages that they can have local hotels. >> we are working on trying to get -- >> i understand. >> you can register from anywhere in the country. >> thank you, gentlemen. cwlthank you very much. >> so moved. >> seconded. >> this is unanimous.
10:11 am
i think that this was responsive to the questions of the commission and we appreciate that. >> item 14, the recreation and park commission bylaws. >> maybe i should present this since i have been leading the charge. in the package, you will see the first paragraph says it all this this to set the regular meeting time for the capital committee for the first wednesday of each month at 2:00 p.m., city hall, to set the record their meeting date and time of the operations committee for the first thursday of each month at 2:00 p.m., and to amend the regular date and time of the full commission meeting to the third thursday of each month at 2:00 p.m. at city hall.

writing the proposed amendment. this really is the essence of it. we have talked about the reasoning and we hope that we will have more public issues and give more people to comment and hopefully it items that have been refined as a result of that out reach. >> is there any public comment on this item? >> will we be mailed in notice of these separate committee meetings? how will we find out? >> they are posted at the library on line and you received them in the mail. >> thank you. >> is there any other public comment? seeing none, public comment is

closed. >> a motion to approve with amendment. >> moved and seconded. >> we are now on item 15 which is the golden gate park went mail -- band -- restoration. >> i have with me and my colleague who is, managing this project. the item before you is for the award of contract and the renovation. in your packages, you received an agenda item which outlined four potential contractors who had bid on the project. because of timing issues, we had to make sure that the current bidder was qualified.
10:15 am
the contract requirements for her reached. in your packages, i think that margaret handed out three additional sheets span to one of them as mentioned in the package, this outlines the bidders and their prices and their subcontractors, i believe. that gives you a formal break down of the bidders and their numbers. the other two items that go hand in hand are modified recommendations to the staff right up. unfortunately, the previous
10:16 am
contractor was not able to -- that contract. at the recommendation of the city attorney's office, they wanted us to formalize this so we put some clauses in the renovated recommendation section. i would like to read that for the record. the contract was terminated and resolved at the recreation and park commission. here bite an award is given for the -- murphy --

>> that was what would be before us. >> that is what would be before you and that is what the recommendation would be upon your approval. we want to make sure that the level of determination is put into the record. >> thank you. >> thank you very much >> is there any public comment on this item? >> when i was looking at this i cannot see a breakdown of all the costs and everything. from this it showed -- from the general fund. i looked out here on page four

or five and it shows that there's six and 44. how come that is not -- >> the funding on this particular project is long and deep. you are referencing the general fund amount. >> this is capital. ice boat with our finance director and she said that the general fund dollars allocated are actually general funds that are given to the department and other departments for the use of proposition 12 font dollars. there was $1.6 million of general fund that was
10:19 am
distributed to offset eligible costs that were determined after they got the grant. we have funds to fund this project and others in golden gate park. the granting agent was not going to reimburse the city so we found ourselves were we had to stop context and stop the fine source and bring a new funds sores and to pay for this. as part of that general fund dollars allocated from the office to augment those issues at that point and time. the discrepancy that you see is actually the general fund dollars which are sitting in the
10:20 am
fifth column in our monthly report. the reason is that those general fund dollars are used for expenses that can't be reimbursed. that is difficult for me to understand. the general funds were allocated specifically for construction projects specifically to offset proposition 12 funds. >> can you send me something? >> i will have to bridge that gap. i am more than happy to provide that detail.

this that i can read to you. some people ask me if the earthquake is where it all started and the ramp became vacant. there was like a closed -- i was since the law that was written on what to do with your property after the earthquake. they wanted to sell the land because they were mad as hell. i did not, i like the freeway.
10:23 am
the people in north beach who came back and got their supervisor to change the name of the surry park or the lawyers who when all of this was going on they were wanting to sell off the land. i am still trying to save this park. why it works so hard to save the park when you could just come along and steal them? >> thank you.
10:24 am
>> good afternoon, everyone. i am helping the youth groups to reclaim this space. i would just like to give more stress of our proposal and the u.s. council of operations. fuhr this will work as an arm of the city government in helping the city to address the issues that they used that they are currently facing.
10:25 am
if this council will hopefully grant this, this will be more attractive if given proper training, citizenship training, and good -- from the government. i would like to note that the youth commission is supporting the idea and we are happy to have this proposal in the near future. thank you for your time. >> thank you. a>> good evening, commissioners.

reverse osmosis process and not the micro filtration. this to be good for the growth of plant life and wildlife. that is another point that i wanted to bring in. these are indicated in the scoping process of the planning department. i just wanted to update you. i'm still in favor of this project. >> thank you.
10:28 am
>> people go away from the park to get away from the stuff. there might be another way to raise that money. i realize that parks and recreation as $12 million in arrears. i think that perhaps with the neighborhood input we could come together and raise that money. then, we can get a plan for the future. i hope that you would consider
