i like to take my name off of seat two and apply for 3, 4, 5, or 6. i believe i can be an asset to the committee for several reasons. i have experience with homelessness. i worked in the shelter, actually. you can find me every wednesday evening on sixth street giving out clothes and food to the homeless. with lazarus house. i have worked in some housing environments where the homeless are not exactly sheltered. it is a place where they can go and sit and watch tv in the

evening, get a good meal. i have a homeless knowledge. i have a passion to help those. i know how it feels. circumstances of all, and put us there. i believe i could also be a benefit knowing a good and bad of the shelter and what can be fixed. i believe that for those reasons i should be considered for the seat. >> i'm maxine paulson, i've applied for seat 2. i could fall under 4, 5, and 6. i did not get a nomination, but

i first took seat number one the first two years and my son is now 21. i timed out of that spot. i got a seat with the local homeless coordinating board. i chose to only apply for this board of supervisors spot because of the local homeless court matings but on the committee was always full and there are always pulls. since i have been a stable member and have not missed any meetings, i have been laid because i am coming from -- late because i'm coming from bayview. i have been working a lot with the homeless coordinating board and i have gone to their meetings. the rules committee had not been

patricia card farrell. i am applying for seat number two. i believe my current experiences with and the san francisco shelter system would greatly enhance the efforts of the shelter monitoring committee. the city of san francisco is constantly attempting to raise the level of operation and care of the homeless population. as a disabled client and a resident in the shelter system, i continue to gain valuable insight and understanding the needs and challenges in providing ongoing support service to our nation's homeless population. i have a client in the disability system of the city since my return to the bay area

in february of 2010. before this time, i have been afforded the benefit of experience in homelessness and shelter placement in 25 shelters and at least 25 different states beginning with my displacement home in atlanta georgia in 2007. this experience has afforded me the benefit of personally witnessing the day-to-day operation of many of our best and worst shelter operations. take away these experiences, and when given the opportunity to share with those bodies objectively and insightfully, i believe in services to the community can be enhanced and positively impact our nation's, as community. i believe my career experience in the late 7 d's into a 80's

have helped my understanding of those emigrating to our states from other countries and those less fortunate populations that continue to struggle with the barriers to acquire permanent housing in stabilizing their life situations. this experience has given me an acquired exposure for having a keen awareness of the verse groups of people. -- diverse groups of people. i have the challenge of raising my accomplished african-american children in the low-income affordable project-based section 8. this has been quite a challenge as we face drug activity and literacy on a daily basis.

document lake. i was under the impression i was going to get another letter, but that did not materialize. it was a letter i received from the team, one of their members. she's one of the head members. i have been working with them the past year, one of the things where they give otut smoothies, vegetables, bread, and coffee. they got them put into stabilization rooms. the other thing i have been doing is volunteering at a place where they give suit to the homeless -- soup to the

homeless. i have been attending the monitoring committee meetings for about three years. i have been attending the sro task force meetings. i have attended several meetings so i feel like i have a rough draft as to what some of the problems are the homeless people face. i have served two tours of being homeless. i'm housed now. the other thing, too, is that i have read a lot of the documents regarding policy and

procedure regarding the shelter systems. my examples are the run-around report. the ordinance creating the shelter monitoring committee. i will review those documents as well. i understand the policy and procedure regarding the shelter systems. i definitely want to add our goal of -- our duties and responsibilities is not just to go look at shelters.

and just look at them. we are supposed to write of reports. -- out reports. part of the responsibility of the shelter committee is to talk about and make policy recommendations. those are some of the things that i would look forward to. i look forward to the idea that we can actually shape in a shift policy and procedure in a manner where we can improve people's lives and bring a wrap-around service motto. some of my theories are to do it in a fashion where it doesn't cost of the city much money.

my goal is to have them come to the shelter system. they also gave me an idea. -- an i.d. i will show that. they gave me an i.d. as well. it's like a subset of the sf team. are you familiar with the team? they kind of like just go all over the city and county of san francisco. they can pick you up and put you into a shelter or stabilization rooms. they are starting to help people live.

i have attended the meetings for the past three years, pretty much regularly. i read the policy and procedure. i have been homeless twice. and i am helping out in the community with the soup kitchen. i have attended several other meetings that would give me the knowledge of what could be done. supervisor kim: thank you. you are here for seats, two, three, and four? >> it's possible i could qualify for seats five and six. supervisor kim: was a nomination letter submitted? two, three, four, five, and six.

about helping the homeless. he has already tried to improve its procedures to help homeless. i've brought this around three coasts he has probably been to 100 different meetings -- i brought this around because he has probably been to 100 different meetings. charles was featured in "the wall street journal" a year and a half ago in an article on computers and contributing. not too many people have a character done for them in "the wall street journal." he is an expert on homeless policy, and it is a shame he has not been appointed to a

committee yet in san francisco. i think this is really his seizure to be given an opportunity -- his year to be given an opportunity to show what he can bring to help a homeless, because he has a passion. he attends regularly, and he was not just talking the talk. he really does walk the walk as well. >> is there any other public comment since? >> ♪ our shel birdbaths in -- sheltered paths may never cross

a shelter director on the committee. the committee is supposed to do oversight of its shelters common and i think they are dealing with a conflict of -- who do oversight of its shelters, and i think they are doing conflict of interest. this would increase the work load for the other members. they would have to do an additional inspections. i think it is bad policy if a shelter director would sit on the committee. >> public comment is now closed. madam clerk, please correct me if i am wrong, but i want to indicate that seats one will remain vacant because applicants
