the bay citizen quoted a staff member of the rec and park commission blatantly throwing out that the board of supervisors doesn't have any jurisdiction over the way that they make land-use decisions. president chiu: this is an item that came up here earlier. >> on a broad spectrum of issues, the san francisco zoo, hank, the privatization of the parts, this is an agency that is out of control, totally full of itself, and belligerent toward the board of supervisors when it comes to these issues. we may a lost attempt to do

something about that. i think it is really time for the board of supervisors to take the board has the majority of those selections. it is going to start responding. it is really crucial. >> my name is herber weiner. i'm a retired city employee. last week i commented on pensions. the robustness of the city retirement system.

it is conveniently forgotten that the reduction of city services was on the board for decades. it will cover up [unintelligible] pensioners will have less money to spend on the products and services of local businesses. the visit the city on weekends to enjoy the entertainment and shopping that the city provides. there will be less of this to the detriment of many businesses. hey m - - they may be forced tos ee seek public assistance. the economic climate of the city will be in peril. they must pay their fair share.

cabdrivers' that will support the idea that you can't separate cracking down on illegal taxis whitout -- without addressing the need that is creating illegal taxis. there are some problems. it is most likely going to involve using spare cabs or older cars. what i have done is offered a summary of a plan that i introduced in 2009, a single operator taxi. it would allow a small number of taxi drivers to buy their own vehicles and operate them as proprietors. i would like the board of supervisors to support the resolution. but supported with the inclusion of single-operator taxis.

they be open to hosting hearings that they feel has potentially been impacted by displacement caused by government activities. our campaign has asked that the western addition be the first. and the land use committee write on the placement of people. the impact -- the economic impact, employment rates remain the same. there is a decrease sense of the entrepreneur spirit. the interaction with neighborhoods and the social networks, feeling that this trust overtime helps impact and

this resolution before you to oppose the elimination is very important and it is one that we feel the board of supervisors is in a position to take a stand on. i have a copy of the letter, a copy for the record and copies for the supervisors. does the city of san francisco passed a living with dignity plan that really purports the community-based center of caring for our frail and low-income elders? if it is dismantled, it will put many people in skilled nursing facilities within a month, and many more within six months. this will have a disastrous effect for the city of san

francisco. we urge you to oppose this measure and send this message to our governor and our legislators at the state level. thank you. i will know what i it is good for my diabetes. i can exercise at the center. the program is designed for physical therapists and occupational therapists. i have bipolar disorder. i can talk to my friends in the social workers. i can get health at the center -- help at the center. please save our healthcare center in san francisco. i might need to go to the hospital more often. it will cost the state and city more money. president chiu: next speaker?
