>> good afternoon. i am a longtime member of the league of women voters and passed president. i am here to offer my strong personal support for mr. grossman. how in history elkin way he has explained how the ethics commission has been fulfilling.

this particular seat that you point is to be generally representative of the public. mr. grossman is a model public citizen. whenever the three years that i served on the task force, i have found mr. grossman to be a strong, knowledgeable, and articulate advocate for the public. he is wise, fair, passionate. he often calls us to task and helps us learn how we can be more effective. he has been helpful to us. he has been working with us to

improve how we do our job and we need him to be on the commission to support san francisco. >> good afternoon, supervisors. i am a friend of dorothy. i have been a resident of san francisco since 1993. when i think about the qualities of a commissioner on the ethics commission, i want someone who is responsible, as integrity, and they have strong analytical skills.

she conducts herself with dignity and decorum. if you were starting from scratch, you would be well served by using her as a prototype. i have seen her counsel and guide her compliance to understand. i have watched as the people develop trust that she had researched and analyze issues the early. she can work to build consensus and build her share of the work. she looks for ways to contribute

to the community. she is always willing to participate. most recently, the cycle for survival. think you. she can be counted upon to do what she says and be trusted to give reason to guidance. thank you. >> the commission is suffering the death of a thousand team

players. the problem clearly states the state of priorities and policies for open government that the commission is compelled to except and in force. the question was raised about what lobbyist reporting must be. it should be with the law says it should be. there's no option. when we have someone who might be a corporate lawyer, employers to come before the ethics commission as contributors, as someone who might see this as a

clear balance in opening government, was impact going to be on government providing services to poor folks as people color? we have seen that. need to stand here in total support. this is the ideal of what men from san francisco. he has come to open government. he will be on this commission and served honorably. >> could afternoon, supervisors. i have lived in san francisco for 59 years.

i feel that one of the or models that the two of these it should look to is mr. joe lynde. the reason i mention him is because i feel that his mission has not been fulfilled. the at this commission has not done this job very well. in my opinion, coverups should be exposed but not by the ethics commission. in regards to both applicants, i would like to say the following statement -- in the future, please don't quit in frustration. i feel this would be hard and are nervous. i know that you're going to run

into many opponents. >> i would like to support dorothy. when i saw your picture on a magazine when you are running, and then i read the article, i had a good feeling about what you would do and bring to the city. i am born and raised in the bay area. i am 60 years old.

i have a difficulty with people who come from other cities and then become residence. what i have experienced many times is that they bring their thoughts and ideas from those other cities. we are very unique in san francisco. we have people from all different race, creed, color, diversity. i believe that she has a sensitivity to the caucasian, african-american, latino, mexican, and all the other cultures and the city. thank you. >> is your any other public comment?

>> i would vote for this alan dye. the documentation that he presented was so clear where they actually gave this up so that he could talk about these things. right now, the ethics commission is not working produces some extent, the task force is not working. he definitely has the intelligence had and the know how to be on this board. i think if we want things to get better, we need more people like him.

if you're just let company p, that all this is a six-year term and we have someone who, i would hate to move forward without giving him the opportunity to be heard. i would hate to move forward for its six years seat. my thought is to continue this item to our next meeting so his application could at least be heard. >> i was not worth the was the

interest in serving on the committee. i served as the vice chair. i have been with the committee and a little bit more than a year. i was appointed in the middle of a term. i ask that you or point me in for a couple of reasons. one of this is consistency. since i was appointed, we have lost three members including both the chair and the vice chair. we will be more effective if we have a group of leaders for some time. i would like you to consider

that. i have a growing knowledge base specifically on general obligation bonds. this is a potentially powerful role was citizens over seen that the bond-fund the projects are on time, budget, and the budget is spent appropriately. i would like to continue to be able to grow in that role. i have a strong passion for the subject matter.

i've worked with the comptroller's office to maximize the usefulness that we have received. i took on the duties because of my passion for the subject matter. i am a small business person. i deal with financial statements and numbers all the time and i really did not have a working knowledge of the functions of the comptroller's office nor are

reporting for projects as large as three-quarters of a billion dollars for things as important as rebuilding hospitals, creating parks for the city of san francisco, and improving branch libraries. this is to maintain consistency. i do have letters from various people from the current members, from community leaders and the neighbors association of which i am president. thank you very much.

>> if you want to follow up with any additional comments. >> i will make a few comments. the chair mentioned that selby is one of three women serving on this committee. i fully support diversity goals. there are many categories to consider along with the gender of each appointee. you can consider where the

committee members live and work to ensure that there is district representation. if you want to look at the diversity and diversity goals, there are many categories. as you know, the charter's established member is quite serious in an effort to probably represent the community. one must be from the civil grand jury, the other must have management experience. the final members are especially noteworthy as relates to the proceedings. these last three seasons present in the vicinity to focus on professional credentials.

i and extensive experience. it is critical to ensure that these members to protest the professional credentials. i have experience in the public debt markets, auditing, and accounting. all of these important disciplines, i can hit the ground running. and i believe that i am a good choice and i asked the rules committee for its recommendation. i have a letter of reference that i could read. i think that this is an important letter. >> let me make a -- please hand it to the kirk -- please hand it to the clerk. >> i was asked to be a member of the -- committee during my first

i would like to address my comments to both applicants. in my opinion after working for 20 years, i feel that the board meets to emphasize over looking critically the bond issue for san francisco general. i have many bets that the bond will cost over $1 billion. of all of those bets are in doughnuts. -- a lot of those beds are in doughnuts. the first one is the obvious library which is certain comment always mentions every tuesday. in my district, gospel, predicting that the comptroller cannot diet the facts regarding

what is going on at laguna honda hospital. one of the candidates mentioned there was too many candidates for this commission. please solve what is going on at san francisco general. every dollar wasted their should have been spent for the needy and poor people in san francisco. >> public comment is closed on this item. >> i would like to say to vote,
