be added. >> as a lot of people know, there is a lot. this involves property of the mta being sold or transferred to the redevelopment agency, so the legislation itself is not being amended, but we would just like to note that there will be a new -- some changes to the purchase and sale agreement between the city and the agency that include, number one, a use restriction that requires the mixed-use project to have a certain amount of residential units available, below 60% of ami, and also that the property would revert to the city is the agency ceases to exist, so there are areas that support this legislation with those changes. that still could be passed on final reading. president chiu: madam city attorney, do we need a motion to

president chiu: i would like to adjourn today's meeting for the victims of the earthquake in japan as well as the victims during the same few days in china. obviously, we have all seen the devastation and the tragedies, and many of us are taking part to both ensure that such a tragedy will never happen here in san francisco, and we are asking our residents to support the victims in japan. our hearts go out to them. i am also introducing legislation, along with mayor lee and supervisor malia cohen. this agreement was arrived at through negotiation with the 49ers and our recreation and

parks department, which is a solution for making much-needed repairs to candlemas stadium -- candlestick stadium. this is in exchange for funding from the city. this is to make sure that our san franciscans can in -- continue to enjoy our stadium and the 49ers, and for many years to come, at candlestick park. i will submit the rest of the items. clerk calvillo: thank you, supervisor chiu. supervisor elsbernd? president chiu, you wanted to be called? >> thank you, madam clerk. -- supervisor chu, you wanted to be called? supervisor chu: thank you.

i think in san francisco, just so residents know, the emergency operations centers were operated. many of the folks who were on call, including the port of san francisco, the fire department, the police department, the department of emergency management, making sure that if there had been a situation, we would have been prepared and ready to go, so i want to take the chance to think the first responders for really being proactive in this situation -- i korea -- i want to take the chance to thank the first responders. just a quick thank you, again. clerk calvillo: thank you, supervisor chu. seeing no other names on the roster, that includes the roll

march, and this gives us a chance to recognize the mechanisms that subvert democracy in order to protect the interests of private money. you will notice that in san francisco, nobody recognizes national sunshine week. the terms of sunshine that means open government -- the term of sunshine means "open government." empowering the people. that was before the library in san francisco government decided it was in the interests -- could be turned into a private income stream. most people recognize, at least in the abstract, that there are -- we need institutions of knowledge that allow access to truth, and that is sunshine in

the government, a free press, and public libraries. public libraries are supposed to be supported for that reason. it is no accident that the public library is the most egregious sunshine law violator. there is a private income stream, with donors and explosiveness. the destruction of democracy is what they expect for the money. the truth has to be destroyed. now, they will destroy what you care about, just as they have destroyed the library. the destruction of truth is the destruction of democracy itself, and that is what i always say the lines -- lies cost more than the money.
