>> my name is brian mulroney and i am representing richard schumacher. he got a notice at 1570 hate street and there is no such building. basically, we've had a guy tagging our building for six months. we paint it almost on a daily basis. i have a guy who comes in every morning and cleans up the mess from the night before. i put a note for the sky two weeks ago that if he did any more of it, he would find a baseball bat upside his head. so we have not seen it since. you should go after the people perpetrating this not the people who of the building. some people think it's an art form or whatever. it's vandalism and they should be prosecuted for it. thank you very much.

>> good afternoon. i'm the owner of 275 haight street. i got a notice and after i got the notice for graffiti, i do removed within a short time. i still got charged $250. i don't know why. i write this supervisor to remove that for me. and then to more. the second one is 301 20th avenue in san francisco. what we get the notice of

graffiti, we removed it with a short time. then again, i got the notice for the charge of $250. the third one is on 2853 mission street. same thing. when i got the notice, i removed it. i cleaned up, but sometime in the glass window with a chemical thing that i cannot remove completely. we did our best to remove everything. then of course, i don't know why, i still got the notice of charge to hundred $50. -- of charged $250. i want the supervisors to waive that for me please. i think the graffiti problems --

sometime weekly one day and after two days, it's again. [tone] i want to ask you to stop that, please. president chiu: thank you. next speaker. >> of one of the owners at 24 01 fell more. i want to repeat what everyone's been saying, but the building is constantly getting hit and we always corrected. this time it was two days late, but my issue -- i've got no argument -- we still got fined, but the argument is the amount of graffiti was small. less than a foot wide by a foot high and you had to search to see it from the street. either we are getting really desperate and going after everything or -- all want to say is i wish dpw would use some judgment because it's getting

ridiculous. for going to start getting down to finding people. president chiu: next speaker. >> i own a pair of slots at 1001 at 1003 some to go at 22nd ave. we got the notice and we take care of the painting in such, but we are one block from lincoln high. the kids come in from caravel street going to school, to school, they eat at lunchtime or going to or from school, we are just right on the corner and a very visible location. i am understand it's a blight and i don't like it. we do we can to take care of it. i'm wondering if there's some

outrage that can be done by the art of building inspection of the police department to go in to a high-school and tell the what it costs us as property owners to deal with this kind of thing. when we get tagged, it's something we're dealing with. but if you can do something to inform and educate the kids who hopefully going to become property owners in the future, it would give us a little bit of a break. that's all i have to say. thank you. president chiu: thank you. next speaker. >> thank you. ♪ blighted by the light i hope the properties turnout all right. ♪ blighted by the light. i hope the price doesn't hit the highest height. ♪ blighted by the city light. ♪ remember don't give up the

in our city and its one many of us are trying to tackle through a variety of different legislation and our constituents work. i want to take time out today to acknowledge some of the good work happening here in the city of san francisco help in our residents find employment. we want to acknowledge the human services agency, in particular the personal assistant services, grew to implement session and job readiness training and job club. we have several individuals representing the program today. barbara allen, just black, charles drew -- if you want to stand -- ramon a gram, julie foster, lynn levy, rebecca martin, alfred s. sanchez -- is in this difficult economic time that human services agencies say to the programs are invaluable to our city. one of our dedicated office volunteers is one such

individual that benefited from this program. after volunteering with our office for three months, he was ecstatic to find. 39. he was so excited at the individuals at this program, he wanted to honor the job club facilitator today. we actually wanted to honor him and he asked us to honor the program that helped him today. while we are sad to lose a dedicated volunteer at our office, we are very excited about his new employment opportunity. he asked us to honor these very special people today and i wanted to have them come up together as a group and talk about the importance of this program and how our city supports employment readiness and connection to employment in san francisco. on behalf of the office of district 6 and the board of supervisors, we want to commend you for your work and doing the action of all we talk about as

policymaking everyday. [applause] >> my name is barbara allen and

i may supervisor with the works service development agency under the direct your of the agency director and my supervisors. we appreciate that. my staff works with a single adults and non custodial parents who are re-entering the labour market. our unit consists of trainers, group employment preparation, life skills trainers, job ready as trainers, job skills trainers and our minister of staff. on behalf of my staff and myself, i want to express our sincere gratitude to the board of supervisors for recognizing our team today. we also wanted to express our thanks and admiration to billy tuttle who attained full time employment with benefits and a career path through our training program.

billy represents what we do best -- identifying, helping individuals identified their skills, working with them to conduct effective job interviews, helping them in a meaningful job search and offering ongoing support when they get hired. billy, congratulations. you work really hard and did everything right. [applause] and you got fantastic results and we wish you all the best. i would all like to introduce lynn levy who worked with billy. >> i just wanted to say a few words about billy because he's the kind of person who makes our job so satisfying and rewarding. he is one of the hundreds of people in san francisco have

had success stories to our program. billy was and is and exemplary person and client. he was very motivated, he got along with everybody, he helped the other students with their job search and the computer lab. he has incredible integrity and is a fantastic guy. he was hired at pier 39 as a security guard, one of these high-level security guard programs. he was hired temporarily. within a week, he was promoted to a permanent position and less than two months, he's about to get a promotion as a sergeant. he likes to spread the success to all his friends. he has recommended several people in the place where he lives to get short-term positions with pure 39 security. because he has been such a wonderful employee, we just found out they're going to hire

another person in the program who is going to get a full-time position because he's been such an incredible employee. thank you to billy and the board. congratulations, billy. [applause] president chiu: congratulations. let's hear from our colleague, supervisor mar, who will make the next presentation. supervisor mar: thank you. i'm very pleased that three of my favorite people in the world are here.

the 60,000 students in the school district, they are lucky to have robbed daniels and the rest -- could you please come forward? if there is any other staff from the visual and performing arts or the arts education master plan office of the school district, please come forward as well. as a parent of an 11-year-old in the school district, i know how lucky we are to have such visionary staff -- please come here, you guys. we are honoring today the san francisco unified school district visual and performing arts project. especially the 25th anniversary of the young at art festival for san francisco. it is an eight-day celebration hosted by the dm museum. it runs through next sunday but i know of the 20th is the

reception from 5:00 until 8:00. this is a free and open possible to everyone and includes the visual arts exhibition which is wonderful every year. it features york and creativity of 2000 students. i love the live performances and i know rob is often playing the piano and directing everything going on. the live performances include musical performance, theater, dance, the jazz ensembles and orchestras that perform -- screenings of student films as well as literary arts events and activities. i have to find out when my daughter's school performance, but there are so many varieties of schools that perform that it's wonderful to check out a lot of stuff. i think the efforts to create a funding stream with proposition h. that many of you help out with and gave the vision for our one of the reasons we have such great art and creativity programs in the schools.

but we need much more. i appreciate the vision you had in developing the arts education master plan. it's a model for other districts as well. one important part is the focus not just on the creativity of our san francisco students, but it supports equity and access for the arts education we all deserve for our children and future generations. i want to congratulate you on the 25th anniversary and invite you up to say a few words. >> thank you very much. i'm robert daniels. i'm the supervisor for the visual and performing arts department of the san francisco unified school district. thank you for this honor and recognizing the importance of arts in the lives of our students in san francisco and for the city itself. we say san francisco is a campus and we mean it. if you come to the deyoung

influence and freedom from the private partner that has made disastrous decisions with our public library has no agreement that has been exposed to scrutiny with this board of supervisors yet they are allowed to sell naming opportunities to scores of city properties with no consideration of whether the benefit to the public is even equal to the cost of public resources. can you imagine the 49ers or the san francisco giants licensing naming rights on the basis of some unknown sum might be donated to the public? the public library gets away with it because it's a democratic institution and nobody cares about democracy. in times of depression, we need to realize that people at all levels of social and economic class are in this together and we can't afford the grifters.

private philanthropy is a farm that plants lies and harvests public resources. it can only thrive in secret when the truth is suppressed and the lies cost money.
