show everyone the design for the road, and that is where we are hopefully going to get to in a way that really brings forward what people and vision for the defense -- and visinvision for e events. that is the end of my presentation. president chiu: i know the event authority is required to make a local hiring plan. have you started working on that? what is the latest thinking on how we will move forward for that? >> we have had initial discussions. they have been staffing up on their core team. we have had the office of work- force development in touch with them. in part this comes from the infrastructure that will go in, in the near-term work force piece, so the scope of those improvements are still under discussion. i think that will help us refine

that piece. they are still developing a picture of the kinds of employees and skills they will need to actually bring forward the event itself. that will lend itself. i would say those conversations are beginning, but we're definitely on track to meet the deadline. president chiu: i have been asked a lot about small businesses about what local opportunities could be available. could you talk about the potential of that area? >> right now there is a join our team link, where people can provide them with opportunities they see. we have had conversations with the small business commission to talk about what are ways we can better facilitate that contact? maybe there is some sort of training we can do or how you get linked up with the opportunities coming forward. it is not necessarily in body in

a plan at this point, we see it necessarily tied together with the picture we are trying to drop between now and when we come back. president chiu: how is the fund- raising going on the committee? >> i know they have raised some amount of money. i think they will be coming back to provide us with the clear no. in connection with the budget hearing next week. i think that is an order of somewhere around $1 million to start with. they are in conversations about the sponsorship agreement relationship that could provide new opportunities to bring in dollars. i think they're getting started, but they are better situated to say where they are at this point. president chiu: one last question. i noticed in your chart for the various initiatives, the relationship around arts partnerships. could you talk about the planning to make sure we have of fibrous artistic experience and how we could engage the local art community.

>> those are very preliminary. and the the event authority has had meetings themselves with different members of the performing arts communities and the arts alliance and conflict that. -- and things like that. we are looking at the event entertainment programming, and can we look at it for cross promotional initiatives that sort of allows people that are coming to san francisco to come to the event during the day and know there is this exciting part or other cultural activity across town that night they can go to as well. i think the event authority is still trying to figure out where it fits in, but our emphasis is being a key deliverable for san francisco and hopefully will bring that forward in a way that kids up to that idea. president chiu: thank you.

supervisor farrell: 9 is less than a question but more to say thanks. i know you have been out in district two quite a bit. i know district two and three will be most impacted, especially on race day. it is critically important. we both share the feeling and making it an incredibly- posiy positive experience for te residents. thank you for that and making it happen. supervisor campos: thank you very much. excellent presentation. i really appreciate the document, the memo's that outlines the various obligations that each party has in respect to this matter. what i wanted to do was simply go through some of the items that are listed here.

my colleagues already asked about, but those for which we have not go into a little bit more. i wanted to ask you about that. one of the obligations of the authority is to provide information as may be required, and so i am wondering if you can tell me how that is going. >> it is going well. i think it has been related to the ceqa process. i think the gun went off in september 31, and we started from go to say how do we build a picture of what we are proposing? the event authority has brought on some great local professionals and consultants to help them in the process, and they brought a great vision to what they want to bring to the locations. there has been a lot of back- and-forth, a lot of thoughtful engagement. i think it will not stop the process. obviously we have the permits of

the federal agencies that will require an additional set of interest that we need to take into account, but i think we have a very good partner that is very motivated to deliver on division here. supervisor campos: with respect to the work force development plan, which president to referenchiu reference, the oblin is beyond the completion of the ceqa review is that the local fire plan has to be developed, and there are specific things that are required to be included or addressed in the plan, including work around it infrastructure, even staging come in the event-related activities -- event staging, event-related activities, so what is the strategy to make

that happen? >> i think each of those specific areas have a little bit different strategy. if you look at the infrastructure work, that will be governed as a lot of the public such partn/private partns are. we will look at the legal provisions under the lease that we would then transfer to the work force development plan to say this is what we are considering. i think in other areas what we will want to do is understand what it is the event authority is seeing as it's needs to bring these events to san francisco. i think they will hire their own core team that has experience in international events, but also they will need to have a surge in capabilities going forward. i think what we would like to do is understand what the needs are, figuring out ways we can bring those types of job applicants to them to say these are people that can do what you

need them to do and really create an effective synergy there. as i said, i think that conversation is beginning, because we do not know necessarily the what before we can describe the how. but it is certainly top of mind. supervisor campos: on the youth involved a plan, my understanding is that they will play a role in that. >> we had a very good agreement. they do call out dcyf. they have a great number of youth programs that should be related to this, especially related to the water. we had a very good meeting with the general manager of recreation and park, high demand goes up to talk about the issues to say what is the inventory of the things we see here in san francisco that could be leveraged. when the event authority, which has already had exciting

discussions about the sailing in the u.s. involvement piece of sailing can enhance both directions. i think it is a starting point. i think there is a lot of work to be done to figure out what the right strategies are and making sure we are hitting all of the groups, including underserved useyouth, but this s obviously something that is key. i would also know they have been great in developing curriculum for schools. we would like to see that if we can massage that forward and create that link for youth as well. supervisor campos: i think it is great you continue to involve the district two and the supervisors and the community. i am also wondering how you are engaging other parts of the

community. in one of the slide to noted u.s. -- noticed you had 35 community meetings. i was wondering if you could say where those meetings have been located, and what kind of outreach is being done city- wide. this is something that all neighborhoods in san francisco can really be involved in. >> sure. the vast bulk of those 35 have really been people-planned focused, so we focused on the most-directly impacted neighborhoods, and those have primarily been in district two and three, and along the port waterfront as well, a number of advisory fronts involved as well. we have had meetings at the bayview meeting center, and that was productive in helping people understand the transportation linkage from there. all of this continues to be

vital importance to importance toyout youth involved in bringig other areas directly involved in what will be happening at the waterfront. supervisor campos: do you have an outreach plan in place to outline what the strategy looks like in the next few months? >> we do not at this point. a lot of it has to do with when can we see substantive things to bring forward to say here is our idea on the uyouth structuring plan. we would like to bring forth an idea and improve those. supervisor campos: i appreciate that, but i think there's something to be gained from hearing from some of these groups and communities before you actually come up with something, because that may actually shape what you come up with. i think it is important, in my

view, for us to engage these other neighborhoods and communities early on in the process so that it is not perceived as an afterthought, and i think the level of involvement throughout the process will ensure that they participate when the event takes place. >> i thoroughly agree. i am not trying to say we do not want to incorporate these ideas as early in the process as we can. early in the process i sent around and offered to the supervisors to have a meeting in your district. i renew that now. supervisor campos: i know i would be interested, and i know other supervisors would be interested. i think that is something we should all be committed to making happen. just a couple all points, on the people's plan, i am wondering how that relates to some of the existing endeavors like the transit effectiveness project,

the bike plan. what are you doing to make sure there is consistency and a strategy? >> on this one i will refer to peter albert who knows a lot more about those issues. >> peter albert from mca. yes, the consistency is pretty important. -- peter albert from mta. we are choosing to benefit from this effort. for instance, even before we drafted the people plan and a bike plan, the sf park, an interesting program that helps is managing traffic. we also met with the transportation control system to look at the big picture at mta. the goal here is one of the things that i think is so important is we get to test and

sponsors for today's hearing. i think it is very prudent that the city keeps extra close the tensiattention on this epic eve i am not a fan of this event. if my memory serves me correctly, most of the locations have been different from san francisco, so obviously holding it in san francisco will be a lot more challenging. i would like to bring up a few points for consideration. first, i would like some sort of discussion to feature how the city will handle demonstrations by activists. given san francisco's reputation i would guarantee different groups from around the world will hold demonstrations around san francisco, either positive or negative, and i think we should have at the road discussion for how that will be handled. secondly, i would like to have a

discussion how we're going to handle people that are going to be driving to the different races from the sky. there is a lot of creative people, and i am sure someone will figure out a way to view the event from the sky. obviously that is a very attractive way of looking at the races, so i think that should be discussed in the future. also, i would like to bring up obvious point, how will this city be protected financially in case there are problems before and during the event? obviously given the city's position financially this needs to be thoroughly discussed and all options considered publicly. thank you. supervisor campos: thank you very much any other member of the public that would like to speak? cnn, public comment is closed. colleagues, this is simply a
