i am also a new member of the california bar. i spent a lot of time studying law and policy. i find when i am on my bike there are issues with safety, with traffic laws are obeyed by motorists and cyclists for it i would love the chance to be able to work somehow toward whether that is increasing by planes or any other safety measures -- bike lanes or any other safety measures. i would like to encourage people to ride bicycles rather than drive. it is better for the health of the city and people tend to be healthier when they are cycling more. supervisor kim: thank you. any questions? thank you so much. >> thank you. supervisor kim: i will open up to public comment. seeing none, public, and is now closed. we have a motion to move this forward as a committee report so this can be voted on next tuesday at the full board. this is an appointment made by the district supervisor ross mirkarimi. i believe we can do that without opposition. all right. [gavel] thank you. could you please call item 3? >> hearing to consider appointing four members terms ending october 19, 2013 to the eastern neighborhoods citizen advisory committee. there are four seats and 4 applicants. supervisor kim: thank you. we have to of the applicants here today. i will be calling both of you. we have first fernando marti for seat five and similar to the previous applicant, i am asking you to spend a few minutes to talk about your background and your interest in serving. if you would like -- something to like to accomplish.

i know that you are applying -- reapply for the sea. >> thank you for nominating me. i have been on that dniester -- eastern neighborhood cac. it is interesting to see how we accomplish creating infrastructure. we have been very excited to start the process moving forward for our new park in the northeast mission area. at 17th and folsom. as well as having discussions about a variety of other funding opportunities. my background as i am an architect and planner. i work for small non profit in the south of market neighborhood. if you have questions i would have been -- be happy to entertain them. i look forward to working with my colleagues for another couple of years. supervisor kim: as this continucommittee continues, do e any feedback? any feedback on continuing to keep this committee relevant,

anything that we can do to support eastern cac. >> we go between the small issues of how do i deal with funding issues, but then there is pretty large and complex issues. the biggest one we have been dealing with is how to interface between physical development and transportation development. we have interfaced with the eastern neighborhoods troops process. there is a lot of work to be done. and to work together to create a robust transit system for the area. supervisor kim: thank you. i will call chris block but he is not here. next, wendy phillips. >> that afternoon. i am wendy phillips, i work for

community-based nonprofit in the mission district. we are involved in providing services including affordable housing. we have also been involved in land use issues in the neighborhood. as an organization for five years and i personally have worked on it before that with other organizations and efforts. the sea that is vacated was held by our executive director who passed away earlier this year. we definitely as an organization are committing -- committed to engaging in these issues especially around the relationships between housing and how we can over see the planning efforts we worked on for so many years. thank you. supervisor kim: thank you for your willingness to serve. are there any questions? our next nominee is oscar grande, he is not here. i will be opening up for public
