avenue, third street, stockton, of van ness -- i could go on and on. san francisco is very well known all over the world. but when it comes to ingestion on our streets, we do very poorly. so we can talk about conceptual plans and we can talk about international agreements, but when we go to ground zero and if you have the guts to address our issues magdalene to empirical data -- our issues by going to empirical data, particulates and more, and seeing that all of you who are supposed to be
11:31 am
addressing quality of life issues impacting our constituents of san francisco have done very poorly. and there are some tricks that people will bring. they're called machinations. [bell rings] and you can see that whatever is going to be done on a van ness, the comment period is kind of focused during the holiday season, and and what has been extended to december 19, i think from december 12. and i spoke about this before. more time should be given. having said that, i want to wish you, jerry mirkarimi, all the best as the sheriff. thank you very much. supervisor mirkarimi: thank you, mr. da costa. i appreciate that. any more public comment?

projects are going to happen over there? i also stated that i think that the san francisco county transportation authority has a lot to do within the projects were linked to the projects that it already has. i know this is a small amount of money compared to the millions that san francisco county transportation authority doles out, some $100,000, but i would like to know why some other independent entity could not do it. why does it have to be the san francisco county transportation authority? thank you very much. supervisor mirkarimi: thank you, sir. any other public comment? seeing none, public comment is closed. i believe we have same house.

university of berkeley, uc berkeley, there are over 10,000 remains, and we have this in the year 2011. so all these things, you know, improvements that we call, should be holistic. we should have some compassion. all these things that we build, they will collapse. but if we, in our arrogance, do not do what is right and there are federal laws that the native american graves and protection act, which the gentlemen it has not read, nor have you so-called representatives, but i am just pointing this out to you because again and again and again in this city and county of san

but i want to congratulate her. i want to congratulate the san francisco film commission for starting this wonderful collective in the middle of our tenderloin in our city. i have had a chance to work with her briefly as the city administrator and got excited about her new directorship still and things that gavinned talk todd me about. we need to get back to the wonderful film history we have in the city. that is one of those things i want to make sure we do, to resurge that ever. so i am going to be a big supporter of the film industry and particularly this type of innovation here, this thing baitor where you have independent film makers and documentaries coming together. the city can come together here, and we have helped to

[laughter] anyway, i had a little bit of

fun watching the producers of that come out as well. that should indicate to you there should be a lot of fun, a lot of information to share with the rest of the world, postseason. one of these days i am sure somebody is going to do something about occupy san francisco. i know that is going to happen. please better view me. i've got some opinions. but we are working closely about that. but there is just -- in san francisco when you're a film maker, i know there are a lot topics you can cover, a lot of lines, a lot of precious stories. this is a hot bed for opinions, for postseason and for film making. and i want to make sure that that story-telling, that ability to show the postseason, the ability to educate our world and our own communities thrives and success in our great city of san francisco.

and that we are also an international city. so that my hope is that when these offices are filled and the real energy of this innovation and spirit that is already reflected here, when these production companies find their gems to produce, that you get international attention. because these stories probably will have international themes to them and will resonate all over the world. congratulations, i will be a background supporter. we will be working with the commission to support it as much as we can, and you may see something in the budget. 11:54 am
the work you have done. [applause] >> and again thanking our film commission for supporting this. they have really put a lot of support behind it, letting us have it to start with. and then also giving us the go-ahead to put funds toward connecting this to high speed internet. right now we have tapped into the city's broadband network, so we have 25 up and 25 down, which not being a tech person, i don't really know everything that means. a file used to take 30 minutes to upload, and now it takes three minutes to upload. that is fantastic. in the rent, that is included. utilities and john torle are -- jantorial are included, and a common area and your own space. it is great a good deal for film makers if you are interested in participating. craig larson is the owner of

i make gallery work more self and budget and public art work where i have to drop this of indulgence and think about how people will respond. and one of the things i was interested in the work and also a little fearful of, it is not until you get to the first and second floor were the work is recognizable as an image. it is an exploration and perception is what it is. what are you seeing when you look at this image? one of the things that happens with really low resolution images like this one is you never get the details, so it is always kind of pulling you in kind of thing. you can keep watching it. i think this work is kind of
