>> hello, everyone. i grew up in a rough neighborhood surrounded by it negativity and a high crime rate. i did something positive and motivating to take my vision off of what was surrounding me. when i was 14, i started working in a youth employment program. the first time i got paid, i was, like, wow. however i going to spend it? at that division was priceless. -- that vision was priceless. we need this kind of programs. it makes a wonderful and powerful impact. i am an example of it. it made a big difference in my life and i feel it would make all the difference today.

taking a chance on the upcoming 80tyouth, it helps them not only create life goals, but career goals. it helps them gain a focus, work ethic. it is a domino effect. sorry. it is a domino effect. when we help youth, they can become successful and help the next generation. i want to thank you because i appreciated so much. i have siblings and i want them to follow in my footsteps. it helped me stay off the street and it helped me do something positive in my life and i am a successful young woman. thank you. it is time to fulfill that hope. we're going to have some fun. i did not get a chance to watch that show much. my wife tells me about it. we will hear about commitments from all of you, try to join or match or beat the 2500 jobs that our city folks have already committed. i know all of you have great pride in our city. jobs that you create, at the impact that your leadership has, i want to start off by thanking all of the companies that were mentioned earlier. thank the individuals that have been working with us. people have come in this week saying, i want to be part of this. thank you very much. eric, and we will have you go into the audience. be the oprah.

testing. leader pelosi has to leave shortly. she was to hear from our partners. we are not starting at 0, mr. mayor. we will call on ron conway first. >> i am the founder and chairman of an organization called sf city. it is a brand-new organization. we have over 225 tech companies in san francisco who are members. creating many jobs in san francisco and outpacing the job growth in san francisco versus the rest of the country. sf city is delighted to commit

100 of its member internships 225 member companies. [applause] we are adopting two organizations where we will help place in turns. one of them is the sfpd future grad's program. it is focusing on keeping kids in high school. sf city is dunning $25,000 for scholarships -- donating $25,000 for scholarships for the program. there is a nationwide organization called summer qa camp.

that organization is nationwide and places in turns into companies that need qa help. we will place over 25 in turns from 15 other companies who have signed up for summer camp. summer camp was founded -- someone you might recognize, jon bon jovi. sf city has committed to this program for years to come. it is the tech companies who are placing 2, 3, 4 interns this summer. next summer, they will be placing 20. one of the first company said stepped-up was pg &e. >> i am happy to tell you that he moved be. we did commit $100,000 to support all of you. we will add $25,000 to that. today. [applause] i also want to quickly say my story is not like some of the stories you have heard today. i did grow up lower middle class. i was the beneficiary of a program like this city is introducing today. i am so thrilled to support the city, the mayor, leader pelosi, in this effort. thank all of you for being the future. thank you. sweet. a couple of months ago, we made a commitment to president obama that we would be a supporter of the summer youth initiatives. we will make a $50,000 pledge. we are pleased to be here. thank you. are all over this great city. the stories presented, you inspired us. we commit to 25 jobs in san francisco. not just the jobs, but investing in providing these young adults the training that will help them today in the summer as well as many years in the future. we will also partner with our stores across the bay area to get a commitment from them as well. thank you.
