it is connecting to the new geneva and the brt. that project we hope will be done and coordinating on the geneva brt initiative, which is an initiative across the by- county partnership. the authority board approved after we had applied for and received some grant funding -- this is a continuation of our transportation effort in the bay area. this will be to help some of the organizations serving be used and general community members to get from those services and programs. and in particular, general vehicle sharing and collaboration there. the department of health will come forward with a potential pilot for the y and other

coordination for transportation in the heels of an area. -- in the hell's own area. the oakdale study will be presented in the may/june cycle, along with bridge replacement. i will turn it over to maria at this point and then come back to speak to that. i want to thank commissioner cohen for being such a leader with both our board and the caltrans board for such a good process and outcome. excuse me, there's one more i will be doing. the cesar chavez community parks plan and bike lane our initiatives we have been assisting in and have funding roles in. the first one with the planning department to help them envision
11:02 pm
the eastern end, how to improve bicycle and pedestrian connections while also connecting truck traffic. that study has concluded and will be brought to the commission in may. in terms of the bike lanes, there have been a lot of -- has been a lot of coordination. primarily to try to balance the needs of the general traffic and truck traffic and turning movements in this critical location. >> quickly, to a few of the pedestrian safety projects going on in his district, we have 15- mile per hour zones in this area near schools. the visibility is going well.
11:03 pm
we have been looking at crosswalks and potentially eliminating parking spaces near them to improve visibility for pedestrians crossing the street. this connects to public housing at the top of the hill. the picture you can see, it desperately needs improvement. construction should start in july. that is one of the very few sources of funding where we can improve the stairway. that is always a cause for celebration. this is probably the first plan to get started, but could get influenced by the new effort to reach envision how the traffic will be coming forward. >> ms. lombard, i think commissioner cohen had a question. >> thank you, actually. you answered it. it was related to the stairway
11:04 pm
improvement plans. i want you to talk about the partnership, but you did. the >> thank you. >> that just reminded me that mta will be contacting you very soon about coping. the efforts are just getting underway now. there is also a handout that was included in the packet. this is the same kind of traffic projects going on city- wide. the same projects have been approved and the -- just like we lost it -- we talk about lots summer there are various initiatives. we also have bayview north and south. mta does the general improvements first and any move on to the next step, getting progressively more significant
11:05 pm
improvements until yet achieved what the goals are. a lot going on with bicycles in district 10. this photo shows a project currently under way with a bike lane on a short period -- on bayshore. that will run from paul avenue to silver avenue. this is the car away and construction truck. -- the cargo plane under construction. we see construction on 16th and ri street. -- rhode island street. >> commissioner cohen. >> could we go back to the last slide? we kind of rushed over this one. we talked about cargo way, the
11:06 pm
cycle track. maybe you could talk about men and what is adding to the delaet curator -- to the delay. >> we are basically preparing and restriking -- restriking -- restriping the bicycle lanes citywide. a few items included in its scope have been done with other funding, but basically the funds have just been sitting there. the we have been waiting for the mta bus and new list of facilities -- to give us a new list of facilities. there is a much greater need for restriking -- restriping the lanes. >> and you know what the holdup
11:07 pm
is on receiving the list of the revised scope from the mta? >> -- why don't you have it already? >> i can ask. >> as maria mentioned, with the injunction of the priorities shifting through the 40 + projects that we had on the books, we have made significant progress in implementing those projects. and we are updating the bike maintenance as we speak. we plan to have that done in a month or so. >> i would also like to acknowledge that our office received numerous females thanking us for the bike lanes on cesar chavez. since you are close by, i wanted to pass that on. kudos. you can continue. >> ms. lombardo? >> one of the project that we alerted the supervisor to was a
11:08 pm
signal upgrade. it is funded by a highway safety improvement program grant. they got the paperwork in, but a day before the deadline. which is fine. we think the funds will stay there, but it is kind of like filing your taxes late. that means you have to enter the queue for caltrans to process it. and caltrans will do their best, but we are just keeping an eye on it. and died to also understand mta will become a year in july for a matching -- i also understand mta will be coming here in july for a matching funds the transition. this is another project we have
11:09 pm
flag here. this is the car anyway -- harney way project improvement. this particular scope is funded by an old federal earmarked. the project scope is expanding from four lanes to six lanes and include bicycle and pedestrian improvements and accommodates future cost rapid trend -- bus and rapid transit. everybody is trying to call back all of the grants that are out there. this grant is currently not obligated. i know there are problems with iraq because of the department of public works. -- with your marks because of the department of public works. i know that frank from the department of public works and
11:10 pm
also the mayor's office are here if there are questions about this project pierpont -- this project. and caltrain, most of the prop k funds go toward state repair. he might have -- you might have relied on caltrain to do glorious things like replacing light bulbs at the station. there are other things going on, particularly with the folks in district 10. the bridge and road replacement project has potential plans for future oakdale construction. grex this is the first of two bridges in the area -- >> this is the first of two bridges in the area. they're both about 100 years old and they both do need to be replaced.
11:11 pm
we have been holding public workshops and will continue to do so until we come back to the authority for potential policy decision in june regarding how that bridge should be replaced. we would be at the staff level compared -- preparing a connector road with that. the graphic on the right would allow folks to cross at gerald. or replacing bridge no. 2 for $25 million. the problem with that option is that it precludes the station from being built without having to rebuild that bridge, which would add another at several tens of millions of dollars. and the third option would be a wider bridge, but that would be $35 million and really have $25 million in place.
11:12 pm
we will be at the southeast community facility tonight. will be going to the bayview shipyard. we will summarize that input in the next month or so. >> commissioner cohen. >> thank you, mr. chair. i would be interested in hearing from mr. wells lawson. if you could just talk to us a little better about the grand -- the grant and how it relates to harney way. >> the grant, as ms. lombardo said, was an earmarked that we received in 2009. we're using it as the first baby step for the candlestick point, part of the project approvals
11:13 pm
received in 2010. as everyone knows, in 2011, we have been sorting out and did suspension under ab26 the law that dissolves the redevelopment at the time. we have basically been on hold while trying to move forward with projects. now that we have resolved those issues, we're underway using the funds for these grants during the survey work that is required for the roadway widening. we have approved a conceptual plan and those transportation plans. we will be doing just the legal work around the acquisition of the right of way and moving forward with those plans. >> thank you very much. it -- does that conclude the presentation? that concludes the presentation.
11:14 pm
colleagues, i hope you found the presentation very informative. our goal is not only to inform the individual members about what is happening in the individual districts, but throughout the city, and more important, to make sure that the members are aware of the various projects that are being funded in their neighborhoods and citywide. any member of the public like to speak on the presentations made by staff on the authority projects in district two and in district 10? >> as you stated, with the redistricting, as far as i know maybe from and sell for sure it up to silver will come under district 9. -- maybe from manzel for sure and up to silver will come under district 9. we ought to be very careful with the bike lanes. six people have been killed in recent months.
11:15 pm
those doing the planning should be aware of this. that idea would be since we have perilous streets to san bruno, like gerard street, maybe some of the viking lanes can be transferred over there. -- the biking planes can be transferred over there. it is kind of done remote- control. but that is on them. but that is resulting from bicycle coalitions -- maybe we had two, but we had a couple in castro, some on market street, and a couple in the financial district. in talking about the bicycle
11:16 pm
lanes, we need to keep in mind that as a result of the bicycle coalition. you can only do that if you are prudent and you do good design work. i travel a lot and i will travel again, go to europe. and i see a lot of changes in that design. we need to have some creativity here regarding the bicycle lanes. >> thank you very much. is there any member of the public who would like to speak? seeing none, public comment is closed. item 13. >> this is a new information item. >> colleagues, any new items to introduce? any member of the public like to speak on this item? seeing none, public comment is closed.
11:17 pm
please call item 14. >> public comment. >> this is an opportunity to comment on anything in the transportation authority jurisdiction, but nothing on the agenda. madam clerk, please call item 15. >> meeting adjournment. rex meeting adjourned. thank you very much. -- >> meeting adjourned. thank you very much.
