all five new hospital project will be -- bring many new construction work opportunities to the city which many of our construction worker brothers and sisters desperately need. they provide -- that there will help -- and they will help revitalize construction in this industry that was crippled in the recent economic crisis and give hope and chances for many of us who are studying at city college construction programs. the second, i remember a few years back there were plans on developing a new park for the san francisco 49ers.

[unintelligible] that provides health care services from the san francisco department of public health. promoting the health of san franciscans who are uninsured by me. i am being taken care of. i support the plan to build two new earthquake safe hospitals for the benefit of my fellow san franciscans.

in order to extend more health care to san franciscans. i [unintelligible] cpmc will be able to continue to provide health care for san franciscans. the new building will be seismically safe. it will have state of the art facilities. finally, [unintelligible] delong -- delayed a long time ago. please support this today. thank you. >> i was very pleased to see the details of the development agreement and the progress that was made since we were last here talking about this project. i noted with some satisfaction they had addressed the issue of

mental health care. i know some doctors, that was of concern and it is worth listening to doctors when it is an issue of health care. they had come to an agreement that was satisfying on the issue of health care. we're in negotiations, arbitration and mediation with the city and that is one of the issues which we are mediating and arbitrating. it is not coincidental we have seen some movement from the the sears -- has been noted the biggest construction project in -- on the near horizon. you know what that means. the means to the city -- what that means to the city. we ask you to vote yesterday. thank you. >> that afternoon,

commissioners. -- good afternoon, commissioners. we are living the economy forward. this is our number one project. for this year, finally, after a decade, get the city to approve the reconstruction for both the economy at a public health these hospitals. a few projects have had in recent years had extensive environmental review, link the development negotiations and committee at rates that has surrounded this critically important project. what you have heard today, you have heard very little about the key need for the reconstruction of these facilities. seismic safety and continued delivery of public health

services after a natural disaster. whether there disaster comes five minutes from or flat years from will, it will come. we need to move the approvals board for this project here in san francisco and under our california. i was thinking as a person born in a hospital that does not exist anymore, that hospital is gone. the hospital that was rebuilt on that site needs to be replaced. the children's hospital on california street became the california campus, a new hospital that has three to be -- has to be replaced. we are constructing our second laguna honda hospital. these buildings have to change because of delivery of medical services and public safety in such as seismically vulnerable area. so the chamber and the alliance for jobs urges this commission to address swiftlet -- act

we are here to show our support for the new medical center. we feel this project will do much for the past -- we feel this project will do much. we want to ensure that our concerns are considered. as we make plans for the destruction of the facility. we're pleased to report we have reached consensus on a number of critical issues including noise and vibration monitoring, construction hours and parking. all men to make life easier not only for our residents but for the surrounding community as well. we look forward to having the new hospital completed and for

with us. insuring as little disruption as possible. this measure includes noise and vibration monitoring, mitigation measures and parking, and traffic measures. we look forward to having cpmc as a neighbor and working with them throughout the construction of this center. >> i want to rise to support the build of this institution. it is essential. one thing that has not talked about today.

that is the aging of our population. we senior citizens recognize that hospitals could become an important part of our future. and we're going to need this one and more in the city. secondly, while the hospitals are so important to health, there is an issue of health before you get to the hospital and that is housing and jobs. they have so much to do not only with good mental health but good physical health. certainly this project will provide jobs. we're working with cpmc because we're determined that some of the community benefits must go to train, provide training for young people to get the jobs that will be available because right now, because the city college is so popular, the only alternative they have to get these jobs is to sign their lives way to get loans to go to

places like hill and address and we ought to be trying to take them out of that and give them a shot at jobs and they can afford the next part of that makes good mental health and that is adequate, affordable housing. we are continuing to work with cpmc and i trust you will do the right thing and get this all important project started which we hope will do a lot to turn the san francisco economy around. thank you for a time and attention and i am glad you're making this decision instead of me. thank you. we have been holding out hope for this project. to have a safe and seismically sound facility to bring our loved ones to, to put our skills to use, taking a building out of the ground, training the future journeymen on a large rusted of their medical facility is an amazing opportunity for the men and women in our apprenticeship. to go to school at night while working on a job this size will positively impact our training program. the knowledge that is shared and learned on this job will pass from journeymen to apprentice and when that apprentice becomes a tournament, so on, and so forth. lastly, this project moving forward could restore dedication to training in their trade in the city of san francisco
