reports show the france donation -- friends donation of $1.1 million did not change during the busiest part of openings. a quarter of that was public funds. finally, the library's suddenly realized how bad this looked, and came up with a figure that the friends had donated $5.10 million. we made a formal request and for the basis, and the answer was, "i do not readily have that information on hand." we still cannot justify that figure it three weeks later. what you have to understand is that this comes after being

castigated by the civil grand jury for failure to document issues. we usually talk about the harm to our democratic institutions, which have been privatized. what about the harm to the citizens? your constituents are donating this money. you might say that only a fool would give money to the friends of the library, but even a fool does not deserve to be cheated. if they were raising money for sickle cell anemia, there would be in jail by now. the allies cost more than the money. -- the lines -- the lies cost more than the money. >> good afternoon. my name is paul career. i am here to talk about three different items. i would like to talk about the housing authority invitation to a huge meeting that all of the

residents of the senior and disabled developments need to know about. i'm want to invite everybody to the west bay community center, the conference center on eddie and fell more street. on thursday, may 31, the seniors and disabled part of it will be going on from 10 in the morning until 12 noon. from 1:00 until 3:00, the family housing events will be there. it is important to us. i spoke to the supervisors before about the need for san francisco government tv in the san francisco housing authority commission meetings. i have since met with supervisor combos. i have talked a supervisor of the lows. and i met with my supervisor, mark farrell.

it would be great to see this included with television for the sunshine taskforce. this seems to be critical. we have a quorum at this meeting. the sunshine task force has a problem with a quorum. maybe it is because they do not get paid. the audit at sunshine showed us that the task force saves the city may be hundreds of millions of dollars in lawsuits. it is really important, especially since we have a problem with organized crime at city hall. i would like to close with the idea that there is a particular case number -- president chiu: thank you very much. >> members of the board of supervisors, i am the director

of san francisco open government. i have two items i am going to talk about. the first goes to why i introduced myself as a roman catholic. i take great offense at some of the comments i have heard. just recently, but consistently, anyone who challenges our city attorney is accused of having something wrong with them. even the pope is not infallible all the time. he is only infallible when he speaks ex cathedra, issues an encyclical, or something along that line. otherwise, he is a normal human being. if you really believe dennis jarrett is infallible, he should represent the city every time it goes to court, because he would never lose. i am glad to see mr. chafee back, and am glad he is talking about the public library and its

relationship with the friends. i want to say an old expression the pharaoh's used to use. -- pharoes used to use, "so let it be written, so let it be done." you are failing in their actions as a public trust. we will cya. we are doing that because we are covering our own at the same time. for those commissions who dare to cross us, be sure that retribution will be swift, complete, and final. do not dare find us in violation. lastly, what has this board of supervisors done in the existence of the sunshine taskforce to support it? president chiu: thank you.

neighborhood center across the street. the side panel, facing east, owners working women, in particular women doing cultural, educational, political, and medical work, and multiracial hands in friendship at the top. the front of the library has two panels, one at the left of the entrance and one on the right. the one on the left features victor hara. there are words in spanish and english. there is a figure who is or is like roberta flack. this is a picture of the current merrill. this is what the library wants to replace it with. the front is to be replaced with

i am glad all of you remembered the citizens are the boss. you are the employees. sit there and take it for a few minutes. in reality, this is what the city really feels. unfortunately, not many people have the guts to say it. lombard maybe the crookedest street in the world, but san francisco may be proven the crookedest city in the world. ordinance task force as soon as my successor is named. i was one of two votes who voted against the task force rules change the board has found to be objectionable. i want to say there is ambiguity in the charter that i think needs to be addressed. it rules that each part of the exact a branch of the city and county, of which the task force is not one -- it does not include the phrase, "of the executive branch." it refers to a board commission. if the language can be reconciled, it will help all boards and commissions, going forward. here is the real problem, as i see it. it does not say whether a vacant

seat or an absentee counts as a member for purposes of a majority vote. robert's rules of order was silent on that question. i would request the charter language be rewritten. a couple of things i want to clarify. it is unfortunate that the supervisor has chosen to miss characterize the task force reaction to the service. we did not object to it. we objected to the surreptitious manner in which it was commissioned. we also found fault with the survey. we thought it was slipshod. finally, i leave the task force not because i am unable to continue, but because after 10 years it is time to step aside and allow new ideas. i think the supervisor for his remarks. i also want to tip my
