his pennies, he was able to put himself through school and has worked his way of from a working-class background into a professional field such as the industry. i still remain concerned about the lack of representation from the southeastern and western neighborhoods portion of san francisco on the commission but i do believe the commissioner is committed to working with not just my office but many of our offices and i also would believe that the commissioner has learned a very valuable lesson to this process not to take anyone or any issue for granted. i would venture to say the mayor's office has learned a little something in this process, will be voting for commissioner antonini. thanks president chiu:. -- thank you. president chiu: supervisor olague. supervisor olague: i hope this opens a dialogue with the

mayor's office around other openings on other commissions. a recently submitted names for the board of appeals of underrepresented communities and also to the housing authority commission which has not seen a lot of changes in the number of years. i am hoping to see some reform, not just in terms of also perspective. to the extent that we can broaden the perspective on these commissions, the better off the city is. supervisor avalos: -- campos: it is not anything personal against commissioner antonini. supervisor: and supervisor olague talked about the positive attributes that he has and as an immigrant myself, i certainly appreciate the experience he has

had as the sum of -- son of immigrants. when it comes to making these decisions, how someone approaches specific issues and their perspective on those issues is relevant. i do not take anything away from the fact that we have a commissioner who is hard- working, who takes the job very seriously. from my perspective in terms of making policy on the planning issues that are facing the city, that is simply not sufficient. there are many people who i think our hard-working, whose political views, however, i do not share and would not want to see in certain positions. if you look at the presidential race, i do not think that mitt romney is not a hard-working individual. i think he is but i still do not think he should be president of the united states. in this case i believe that even though commissioner anthony bring something to the table, i respectfully disagree in terms of his approach with a number of these issues.

one of the most impact will meetings that i had as a young attorney was meeting the personable and very smart and hard-working justice antonin scalia who was one of the most impressive people i have met. there is no doubt in my mind that he takes his job very seriously as a member of the u.s. supreme court. that still does not mean i would support justice antonin scalia aon the supreme court. the approach does matter and that is why i believe voting against -- nothing against commissioner antonini, i think he has a different perspective. thank you. president chiu: if i could remind folks that we do have a board rule against expressing a pause or opposition to statements, to keep the conversation flowing more expeditiously. supervisor wiener. supervisor wiener: i will be

supporting this nomination. i think that he has been a superb commissioner and i do not agree with him on everything. there have been times when we have disagreed and as with other commissioners, for example cindy wu, i supported and do not agree with. but four commissioners weren't to work hard and who are committed to the city. i do respect every supervisor's broc if to vote against the commissioner with whom they have policy disagreements. i do not think that is inappropriate. every supervisor has to decide for himself or herself what criteria they use and policy views are a legitimate consideration. i think that comparing the situation in any way, shape or form to mitt romney or antonini

to support item 38. thank you. president chiu: do you want to do this item same house, same call? without objection, this resolution is adopted. >> amending the administrative campaign and government to conduct code regarding allegations of landlord and small business tenants for disability access improvements. president chiu: each of you are where we have had a tremendous rate of lawsuits against local small-business owners related to our ada laws. we have seen thousands of these lawsuits in san francisco. there have been hundreds of these lawsuits. a number of our colleagues and others have been focused on what we can do to move this forward. i want to thank the land use committee for their support as well as the different stakeholders that have worked for my office including the small business commission and

small-business advocates cannot advocate from the disabled community and advocates for commercial landlords as well as [unintelligible] this ordinance does five things. it requires our city to give priority to building permits for work to bring space into compliance with access laws. it requires commercial landlords to bring restrooms, ground floor entrances and exits into compliance with various disability access laws or to disclose to tenants the property may not currently meet the applicable accessibility standards. this legislation inform small business tenants and leases the may be legally and financially liable for failing to comply with laws and to offer tenants copies of access information notices. fourth, the legislation requires new in -- in new or amended leases obligations amended leases obligations between business tenants and
