shame on you. >> president chiu: next speaker. >> good afternoon, mr. president and board of supervisors. i'm in here, there are so many people inside here and outside, they're all supporting ross, from different backgrounds and different ethnicities based -- i've never seen that. myself, i have never seen that. and he did a lot for this city and that's why people elected him as the sheriff. and people elected him, not any other thing. and this is democracy. i love this city because in here, people don't look at each other with prejudice. and they don't label each other. they don't play political games. they don't look at each other with that. so show us that you are the true representative of these people san franciscans and reinstate

anders and anders. we are a community5v based organization out of the bayview, and>ñ visitacion valley. ross mirkarimi is a good and decent family man who has dedicated himself to serve the citizens of san francisco. he serves the people who can't speak out for themselves. he's a champion of reentry. he has a great understanding of the issues before us for realignment, and those coming out of jails, and prett prisons. we elected ross to do his job as sheriff. as a woman, he do not see how this interferes with his duties and responsibilities as sheriff. today, we really need to ask ourselves, if we want to continue to foster a cult ofuref taking our vote away in this

city, why was no action taken for joanne hayes-white who hit her husband with a vase and then refused to pay child support to her young son. how can a million plus dollars be spent on this insanity when i work with kids who are on the corner, we have no funds for training and putting them into union positions? i think that you really need to ask yourself why mayor lee has come and taken our vote away. thank you. >> president chiu: thank you. next speaker. >> president chiu and supervisors, my name is paul, and i served for eight years on the san francisco ethics commission. and including a year as president and as vice chair. and i served the first eight years that the current charter was in effect, starting in 1996.

there hasn't been -- the law has not changed one iota since i served on the commission. and during those years, we heard many cases of alleged official misconduct. but the reason you haven't heard about most of them is because we were instructed as follows, by both city attorney louise rene and herrera which is opposed to what the city attorney is claiming was the law in this case. we were instructed, unless the commission has found probable cause to believe that a provision of the charter or city ordinances relating to campaign finance, lobbying, conflicts of interest, or governmental ethics has been violated, the regulations are clear thati.z further action may be taken by the commission. he goes on to state, the charter does not2xi?y authorize the commission to impose any type of public censure upon individuals

resident in mr. mar district. i don't know mr. mirkarimi or anyone in his family or inner circle nor did i vote for him. this is my second appearance before this body. the sheer transparency of manipulation by the people's representatives in this case in which should have always remained a family private matter is shameful and beyond the every day shenanigans that occur within the halls of political battle. this manipulation orchestrated by san francisco mayor and district attorney, otherwise good men, has invented a victim to accomplish political ends and in fact has caused that victim further victimization and further victimized her entire family at taxpayer expense. mr. mirkarimi and his wife had a domestic disagreement, an accidental bruise resulted. the da's invented victim has tried to make this personal fact abund absently clear but nobody wants to listen.

thank >> president chiu: thank you. next speaker#mj;c. >> hi. my name is jim and let me5zoñ bn by saying ross and elanea are we came to know ross as our supervisor and understood his intelligence, passion, and capacity to accomplish great things. all of us, human, and therefore noted p perfect. that brings us to the restorativei's justice issue tht ross supports, our da supports, supposedly everybody supports, theodoaç idea is that you're sud to acknowledge wrong-doing, you're supposed toúhlz apologiz, you're supposed to make amends to the injured party that are the goal is to return to societ and be fruitful and productive,

and go forward. that's what we're asking5s)÷ yoo do for ross. we need him as our sheriff. obviously, from the comments eliana is very satisfied that he has made amends, and she has made it very clear how she wants this to go forward. so since we are all human, we all do make a mistakes. i'll repeat the quote that was given earlier, let he who is first without sin be first to cast the first stone. thank you. >> president chiu: thanks. next speaker. >> i'm here in response to all that is going on, and it's very saddening that they did this to ross. i saw ross at the earthquake memorial for all the victims and everything. and i felt that though there was

something going on with ross that night, because he was very disturbed. now, he didn't have time to talk to me, because he had to go chase his son down, because she couldn't catch him. now, ross leads by example, not with an iron hand. and we should recognize that. when she said that it was going to ruin ross' career, you know who it really ruined? it ruined her. and i hope it doesn't because she's a really good girl, and ross is really lucky to have her. now, as far as predicting the future, i predicted an earthquake, and a tsunami, and the demise of all the nuclear

i'm supporting mr. ross mick, --mirkarimi and asking you to please reinstate our s8f"-÷°ñ please. thank you >> hello. nichole -- and i was born and raised inzdm< san francisco andi also teach at stanford i ask you to look at the facts before you. mirkarimi plediif8w guilty. his conviction is beyond his own case. he's the top law enforcement ideally the sheriff would have said because i've -- the crime and i want my department to be seen as a department that will not only hold offenders accountable but ask offenders to hold themselves accountable and since my conviction is relevant to my duties and probation term within my own department that i will oversee, i will resign for the integrity of this city and send a message that any level of domestic violence will be taken
2:18 am
seriously but he didn't do this. so i am asking you not to be scared of setting a precedent of removing a sheriff from office for misconduct related to the sheriff's role. we voted you because we thuft you to do a thorough job in other cases that might come before you. being progressive, which the people are claiming to keep him in office i think being progressive is beyond our -- violence against women such as he said sorry it was a mistake opinion it was mig nord when it was against women. san francisco wants a sheriff who is proud that san francisco has set a standards to keep a city safe, and i really truly believe it is in every citizen's best interest for us to show that public officials are trusted to hold convicted offenders responsible at the top level. thank you. >> president chiu: going to wait for quiet.
