it's a b-241 and the author is tom who is a champion of workers rights. he's a member of this board and the board of supervisors. domestic workers california domestic workers are comprised a it housekeepers and in an i didn't see and a caregivers and they work in private households to provide care and health and safety and well-being for the safety of children in their homes. domestic workers plays a critical roll in the economy. there are some of us who have domestic workers in our homes. many of you have seen the movie the help.

when the labor union in 19678 congress executed domestic workers when a time when african-american workers were employed as households workers. under federal and state laws it has assumed the relationships between employer and servant in quotations was personal rather than a commercial he relationship in character. now more than ever this continues to be a labor rights issue. now the majority of workers are workers of color and because even if race discriminations are

pleasure of doing the training with elected officials it was a lot of fun it reminded me of brown where i came from my roots and it's clear that the women know their voice is strong to advocate for better working conditions. we're roche the workers who carry out all over san francisco the work of taking care of of loved ones in our home and elderly and family members. this makes all the work possible in this state. i want to thank the women's in the city and this is an important time in our state. we're asking the governor and e

different times in our lives have been impacted by our teachers. this teacher is changing the lives of so many children. he's been there for 16 years and i know that marshall (clapping) - you know, until recently he was part of district 6. he's a san francisco school product. he came from = salvador. he received his degree from san francisco university. he helps the students learn

reading and writing but it's truly special how he teaches his children about the social justice and about the rights of civil workers and immigrants. all the students that have taken his class learn about the civil rights movement and like dr. king and mr. chavez. i learned about his parents from his school. he was part of the group that was honored by supervisor al vascular. and what she said to three and four when i saw her at the are recently fonts you have to honor this special man. my child loves him he teaches about justice. and i know i also want to

could come forward. she's been a champion in the medical marijuana movement (clapping) >> and i think my colleagues know that our districts is richmond district and many others in the city and through the bay area are threatening a closure by the federal government. but i want to talk about the positive effects. kathleen is a pioneer of the movement. she is by trade an accountant who filled the first permit for medical candidates. and this is a historic club in

california. and she opened the helm in the district. there she served patients for 14 years. she is the longest compassion at worker in california. and her pioneering efforts and her staff as well has worked for many years with public safety issues. her contributions is worth mentioning for her he effort with the southern poverty health center. she's sponsored safety in african and she's a tremendous humanitarian as well. she couldn't have served her members without her caring staff (calling names) and she's the mother of four

young people and she cares for her adult son whose disabled. (clapping) >> well, thank you so much supervisor mar and all of you and the city the patients and he does medical marijuana community. i couldn't have done it alone and it took a lot of people to make it happen and it took a lot of people before 1996. it's been going on for a long time and no doubt we've got a lot of work to do. you thanked all the people i wanted to thank.

when he opened the medically research wasn't being loud but we opened it was effective medication. and so all those many years later it's graifrt inform know that the progress is effective. we're looking for a new location and we're looking forward to continuing to work with the city and the medical marijuana community in serving the patients. thank you (clapping)

education of not just parents and young people by even policymakers like ma of our offices. i've seen the needs in the community and the education. they've been organizing this that are disproportionately represented. they do their homework and they in their research they show the correlation of the tobacco sales and the mission and bay view and many other areas of the city and their well trained invoking through the press and the media as well different outreach strategies in organizing and

advocating skills. most recently, there was the acknowledge they raised the awareness at the film festival today. they found that san francisco needs to have more fair and equatable issues around the state so the cigarettes don't fall in the most poor neighborhoods. they've looked at health impacts as well in those over burned community and this is the issues they're working on like healthy foods. but for turf i wanted to say they're working on a policy with my office and your offices as

well on a new policy that would bring fairness and equity. they've got nonprofit and other organizations and the region and they've done an astounding job. i want to say their effective and they're the new leaders of their neighborhoods and our cities future. i'm going to read the names (calling names) and i believe amanda.
