am here asking you for help. >> thank you. next >> this bill sci you. yesterday outside of our negotiations and one president roxanne sanchez broke it down like this: our chief negotiator tom harkin intentionally created the conditions for strike by surface bargaining a technique designed not to make progress. use the strikes create a backlash against the workers. this negotiation style is not welcome in the bay area and to hold that ransom the public commuters, and workers without pay is unconscionable. as you well know on july 5 bar unions return to work to spend 30 days mediated negotiations and to avoid further disruptions of park service but now more than halfway into this contract extension it has become clear

support today. this emphasis go domestic violence consortium was so honored to join our brothers and sisters in the immigrant rights movement today. i want to thank supervisor: for hosting a press conference, supervisor avalos for introducing this groundbreaking legislation. ending secure communities has been the top priority for the domestic violence community across the country for three years. we tried it at the federal level, survivors of domestic violence testified in congress that they had been deported. we tried it on the state level. we are seeing a similar number on the end that's watered down and were to be possibly sign this year. so this is the place. this is ground zero for secure communities to be deconstructed in san francisco. we are so proud to be part of it. secure

communities not only puts every one of us at risk but i'll put survivors of domestic violence and their children at risk. to call for help and end up in deportation with your children in foster care or with abusive partner is something that many survivors will not risk. they will stay in dangerous situations rather than call because they are afraid of secure community. this is a public safety risk to all of us. so, today's legislation is a huge step forward. per san francisco the state the nation and the citizens of the world. we look forward to this journey. thank you >> thanks. next speaker >> jesus said it greater witness than john the baptist and he said there was never a

8:24 pm
like to do because there is still some conversations going on with the stake holders and mayor's office and colleagues about this if we can move this with full recommendation, not for today, but -- on july 30th to have a full conversation. what i suggested is we move this out of committee, not for today's consideration but for consideration of the board from a week from today to allow for additional conversations we are having on this measure. i know we've had quite a public of public comment this week and hopefully we can move this out relatively quickly. >> great. is there any public comment at this point? >> seeing none, yes, c'mon up. >> ron smith, i just want to thank president chiu and

members of this committee for your incredible patience and your understanding in trying to make the best piece of legislation possible. thank you so much. >> thank you, seeing no other public comments, public comment is now closed. >> president chiu, thank you for your leadership on this and as we discuss whether it's individually or at a committee meeting that as a legislative body in san francisco it's great to be part of an effort to make things work for families in san francisco and as you know i have been working on these issues for many many decades, i guess. i'm really happy to be a cosponsor of this legislation with you and others on there. then i'm very happy that you have been able to work
8:26 pm
with the stake holders on this and to offer the needed amendments and in particular i was really happy to see that you were able to move the minimum of 10-20 where it would have impact on the business. i know that firsthand for those that are small are, it maybe a little bit difficult, but once you get into a larger scope of 20, i would say 99.9 percent businesses can manage that. are there any other comments? >> colleagues? seeing none, then is there a motion to move this out for possible recommendation? >> a committee report? >> no. not as a committee report. we hope to get this moved out for the final july meeting. that would be the last
