required for most of those preservation requirements. one of the things that's of interest is our sequa referrals there were 2 hundred and 60 restless to the historic preservation team who their potential impacts to the resources. of those 2 hundred and 60 we had to prepare some information on 2 hundred and 15. it's safe to say that's the lions share of our process open a day to day basis. i mentioned we are looking for ways to simplify and a industrial that process to address those numbers their going up and the referrals telephone number continue to increase. the next item i want to bring to your attention is starting on packages 14 and 15.

this is a renotify of the inventories that have been adapted and you adapted the sunset district and the statement. we just started working in this reporting period on a neighborhood commercial building statement and we're knuckling a survey as part of the c l g grant. the center selling mar it is largely complete the eir is underway and we'll bring it for your prevail shortly. as you know we're initiated the community outreach and the engagement on the african-american statement that's still underway. there are still several context statements through the historic preservation committee and we have a role in adapting those
3:32 am
statements and basically certifies them to use them as a planning tool and recognize them as a preservation document and planning tool that meets requirement. we have a number of those in the pipeline. you've heard about a couple of them there's a go d historic context statement and a resident context statement and there's a eureka valley context statement we've having had some conversations with the sponsors. the central corridor survey i mentioned with a context statement but we have a culture
3:33 am
landscape survey that looks the areas between the historic buildings designated at the national and state level and other pieces of the infrastructure that role to the significance of civic center we'll bring that to you hopefully by the end of the fiscal year. and then finally i wanted to review last year's goals and how the department buildings we achieved either in full - achieved fully the goals or a impartial i'm liking packages 23 and 22. one of the goals was to increase local participation and you approved or gave a positive recommendation for 10 contracts which is the most we've ever seen at one time. those were approved by the board unanimously and will be
3:34 am
reflected in the next annual report. the second goal to have tools for entitlement improvement. and in response to the high volume i'm sure you're aware of we've hired a number of preservation itself and we have a staff of 17 soon so i think it's one of the largest preservation teams in the country that's completely supported by the work and certainly the delegation has helped to industrial those projects in a timely fashion. other city agency to formalize the photocopy procures for the alternates of c of a once again we hire the new preservation person withhold to hire by the end of this month to get things
3:35 am
done and next is the community participation. i think the one - probably one of the best ideas we've had over the past couple of years is our former that community person there are 4 ambassadors and they go to meeting and answer code questions for the public either at the sunday streets or other feed back and we've seen a successful way to engage the community certainly about preservation one of the most interesting or talked about posters or graphics are unusual the landmark posters and sometimes, people are sproiptd to see which buildings are designated within their
3:36 am
community. we're very much active in the preservation history and we'll be participating in the history x 0 to in march. finally, the last goal for the previous reporting year was to seek funding for design guidelines to address the secretary of interior standards. over the past summer we've had two inheritance working deliberating on the literature review and assessment of our existing guidelines whether their preservation related or not and excitedly that information so we can sunday evening funding to move that process forward. so we'll certainly report back to you as a evolves and develops.
3:37 am
there will be a large role for this commission and public on how we approach any interpretation of those guidelines. at the bottom of package 3 subdivision e are the goals for the folsom year i'm going to read them off quickly so if you have any feedback or you can reasonably give us ideas we'll include them. to continue our mills sack program. we decided to do this year that worked very well last year is to promote how to clinics in local district. last year, we went to the landmark district but this year we're going to target the dog patch and find a location and partner with a local neighborhood group and walk through them through the plan. the second goal is to initiate
3:38 am
public and commission review of the draft element in participation of the sequa analysis. i mentioned this during the rose. we're seeking funding in the budget to initiated and rise the plan so we're open to adding any comments you may have. the third goal is to refine the environmental review process to provide industrial process for hifkz processes. four is to develop innovation efforts and the next is to address the secretary of standards that's a carry-over

3:42 am
>> it's something by the need to think about. >> it's strongly recommended that all commissioners receive training to we very specific qualifications assigned to each seats so its probably for jurisdictions that don't have requirements in terms of preservation and the standards. in talking with president hasz and commissioner wolfram we are looking into formal training for that the commissioners on one of the form topics this year and hopeful that will address that requirement. we're looking into the department to help sponsor the training but anytime you attend a workshop for preservation that will allow us to up to date the
