and trying to honor the origin vision that ellen and nancy had. we now call the hospital of san francisco the general the heart of the city my the hearts project has since then support $11 million worth of projects in the hospital (clapping) we're so glad for that, too because the general has shown us everyday it's such a gem this hospital inparalleled by other cities by it's care for the welfare and the house of all it's citizens and it's expertise and cutting-edge is amazing.

thank you for being here and helping with the homes we may serve them you it's because of you >> hello, i'm pam bearer. today, i'm speaking first hand many of you here today in this majestically tent have heard my story i attend many baseball games. sitting right there on the field with our four children but one day over 10 years ago our son ran through a glass door and was taken by paramedics to san francisco general hospital. our sons life was saved at the general.

there are others here today who have been saved at the general. falling down a flight of stairs and falling open a marble door at the symphony and being hit simply going to diner or simply crossing the street in downtown san francisco. our firefighters, our police who protect us daily are taken there. children from broken homes abuse of homes are taken there. friends, cousins or simply strangers who might be homes all are served at the general. i am very grateful for san francisco general. other who told me their personal stories are very grateful as

well. my goal is for everyone i mean everyone in this community to be as grateful as i am. don't wait for that accident to happen the plane crashed or the earthquake. be grateful we have this our county hospital with invaluable services on a daily basis 24/7. and i mean 24/7. the general has already been prepared to meet the needs of our city when we need it the most soon with an outstanding general facility it will match it's clinical obsolescence. this place is a hard adversity a safety net to the community.

our heart and soul felt folks on the streets or iconic to our san francisco. with the help of the hearts in san francisco project the foundation has raised more than $92 million (clapping) these hearts generate funding for vitality noochts through the hearts grant. surgeon training in the trauma institute and waterfallness programs and evocational programs with people struggling with mental illness and many many more that are record reflect to comfortably our community. without our support we couldn't

u wouldn't be here today we're celebrating our 10 years anniversary including large tabletop hearts and smaller mosaic hearts. currently hearts are seen in many lobbies and store properties and a balconies and kiddie parks let's continue to see those hearts cross the entire bay area (clapping) in our lifetime we can create positive change we can all create positive change. i had a change of heart when i had to walk in those commodores with our son.

started it's first hospital and ever since then we've been serving the community of san francisco. there is no those years we've seen the general work tirelessly for people in need of care. just like the general wells fargo is working hard to improve all lives in san francisco we appreciate we are only as healthy as the community we serve so financial health and person health do hand to hand. that's why san francisco is proud to be a support for the volunteer hours. in fact, it was 10 jurors when nancy and allen newsom did their offices and asked four fah are 0 support for the hearts. we said, yes then and we're proud to say we've said, yes

every year since (clapping) this year's hearts recipients entire all of us through their exceptional community service and i'm here to kickoff this with the heros who work tirelessly. now our first heart hero tom is the operator of a company family owned full harley da's office in affirming. in 1965 tom was taken to the general while stricken on a motor vehicle. he spent two weeks at the hospital before being transferred to hartford. 8 years later, he organized a

toy room as a way to a say thanks to the institution that saved his life. the annual hollywood toy ride each member brings a toy for the families who wouldn't be able to for the record gifts. in 2013 tom and the haefrl davis club gave toys that have impacted families each holiday season. it's my honor to call tom perkins to the stage. tom (clapping) >> complaining one and all.
