energy and we've piggy back on our training in order to minimize the cost of bringing this out from canada and he's very familiar with this board. and our training and governance and i would suggest we do that again and piggy back on the timing because that saves us a lot. he'll look for us and we don't have to pay for the transportation and lodging cost. the other thung is the board training and commissioner training is that i have noticed that we've had a number of commissioners come on board and previously we all used to go to trainings from the international foundation, although a lot more is online these days or you can get the dvd's and such, i noticed that no one on the board has been, a lot has been done on the budget but

no one is attending any of those conferences and trainings. those are really vital. there is a couple of those held in california specifically for public applies. if nothing else, i think that commissioners should be taking advantage of those now that there is a different budget issue and that can be affordable. i would like to already include that staff, especially senior staff have an at some -- opportunity to attend some of those because especially with regard to fiduciary responsibilities and other board responsibilities it will go a long way to making things a little smoother. i haven't seen that in a long time. >> thank you. any other public comment? seeing none, item no. 16. >> city clerk: item discussion, discussion item, opportunity for the public to comment on any matters within the boards

got free health cover in bulgaria. there was something that got lost and the mail came back to my father. basically, the health service system would not let my father go. based on some kind of internal rules, despite the evidence that he was detached from the health service system, they were able to keep enrolling him automatically and able to change his plans and increase his premiums up to $357. i think this is meeting last year. you make wonderful presentations analysis. i guess you can assume how much is $357 from a patient that is $350. i met

most of you in a closed session. my opinion is the board wasn't that friendly in the closed session as it appears to be in the open session. i will say as i said last year. you have thousands of members which is a huge organization. not all live here in san francisco and have the opportunity to attend these meetings and have access to the information. it's not that easy to come from a different country and speak another language and follow all the rules. actually i have a comment also on your customer service. i believe on your website it says that you have a very high standard of customer service. our experience shows something else. we worked with my father last year in the office, we couldn't figure out who was the director. reporter told

>> how long do you think that it will be before things are restored to normal in san francisco. >> it depends on the severity of the earthquake, we say to provide for 72 hours tha, is three days, and it helps to know that you might be without services for up to a week or more, depending on how heavy the shaking is and how many after shocks we have. >> what kind of neighborhood and community involvement might you want to have before an earthquake to make sure that you are going to able to have the support that you need. >> it is important to have a good relationship with your neighbors and your community. go to those community events, shop at local businesses, have a reciprocal relationship with them so that you know how to take care of yourself and who you can rely on and who can take care of you. it is important to have a battery-operated radio in your home so that you can keep track of what is happening in the community around and how you can communicate with other people. >> one of the things that seems

have a hot water heater. >> absolutely, if you clean your hot water heater out regularly you can use that for showering, drinking and bathing as well >> what other things do people need to have aren't their home. >> it is important to have extra every day items buy a couple extra cans of can food that you can eat without any preparation. >> here is a giant can of green giant canned corn. and this, a manual can opener, your electric can opener will not be working not only to have one but to know where to find it in your kitchen. >> yes. >> so in addition to canned goods, we are going to have fresh food and you have to preserve that and i know that we have an ice chest. >> having an ice chest on hand is really important because your refrigerator will not be working right away. it is important to have somebody else that can store cold foods so something that you might be able to take with you if you have to leave your home.
