four ground breaking events but we are also creating opportunities that will serve and revitalize our community. just to recap you are thinking what are those four events? we have bayview rise. many of you might have been at the george ground breaking ceremony and hunters view and here today the bayview hunters point, the opera house, the renovation. today we have another bayview contract or, come quest construction located on toll land avenue. remember we talked about the social compact of the community that there was room for everyone and contractors are going to be working. me and other department heads as well as other community partners are living up to that promise. i

think it's critical when you think about the overall narrative within the bayview community. >> today it influences the experience of walking, shopping and eating along our beautiful third street corridor and impacts our youth and families by providing access to the arts right here in the neighborhood. i see we have the executive director kimberly hayes from the african american complex and excited to look to the if you the to forge a relationship with the african american arts and culture complex and developing this relationship for arts, education outreach and more importantly a relationship that will teach the culture of particularly the african american community. by supporting this renovation today, we recognize that not only that the building and

the property, but also the significant role that this building has had and plays in establishing in a healthy individual in this neighborhood. i don't know if you know, my personal story is i took west african lessons here with betty gamma bow a. this is very personal for me and my younger city. this is why i made sure to fund the successful third on third program. i'm going to continue to advocate for the role that arts play and continue to support the bayview hunters point foundation. to barbara, where is barbara? there you are. when i was listening to the mayor's remark, all i can hear is kaching and all of sounds is there is money for the opera house, right, mr.

mayor? okay. i want to take this moment to acknowledge our wonderful mayor ed lee. this is a man who has walked and talked an are congruent with each other. mr. decaneey this you so much for being a director of a progressive forward thinking arts institution. and to the city family, thank you for understanding the significance of this building and more importantly the role it plays in the community. i want to acknowledge an amazing woman who has provided leadership to the community. she has afforded blood sweat and tears and this is ms. barbara -- barbara i want to give a moment to recognize your

staff to help keep run this place and your dashing security. who is not listening but i will get him later. thank you, everyone who supports the organization who donates to the opera house to help keep programs alive like dare to dream. if you are a donor, please continue. we need to continue to provide a safe space for arts and culture in the community. lastly and certainly not least. i want to thank the community, the third street merchants, the neighbors, you are the reason we are here today. i want to animal we -- acknowledge we have the bill of -- brights organization and all the people dealing with land

issues and funding resources. we need you. so stick with us. i want to also give an acknowledgment to the mayor's office of disability who has poured an unprecedented amount of support. paul scott and brian strong. i want to say thank you to you and i want to lift up two different very important directors who have also come to the table when called. that's director mohammed and riskin. these are two very talented people and also staff. i want to lift you up. you did a remarkable job. you see the holiday bells, thank you very much to the puc. i also want to acknowledge the office of community development and grants program. you are

yet another politician that has helped support the bayview opera house over the years. one of the first people that helped save the bayview opera house with the save america's treasure grant, leader nancy pelosi. and she couldn't be here. we have a leader in her name. >> thank you for having me. she sent a letter. "dear friends. congratulations on the opera house. it's the first and oldest standing theatre and holds a significant place in the bayview community. today it stands as a beacon in as much as anticipated. i was proud to help the opera house on

obtain historic status. it provides cultural enrichment and provides great programs for participants. i'm special helpful for programs and serves for over 500 children. it helps those living in the bayview hunters point. thank you for my deep appreciation to the people of san francisco and the many helping to realize this dream. congratulations and best of wishes as you celebrate this great occasion. best regards, nancy pelosi". >> this is no understatement.

i have come into my role 2 years ago and this project was well under way and for a number of years of planning and city participation in making these resources happen. many people i need to thank and reiterate some of the city's department to help this together. the mayor and all of our cultural centers. thank you so much. the mayor's office of economic and workforce development for recognizing this as a hub for culture and economic flourishing for the bayview. to the office of community investment and innovation for your support over the years and recognizing this as a key of redevelopment opportunity for the city. to our partners at the city library. herrera for your partnership and programming and supporting the arts commission. to the public utilities commission for recognizing this as a great investment but in the bayview

in general and supporting the arts commission. thank you for your support. and now to some of our development partners that have helped bring this project forward which i think is an incredible design that builds on this historic landmark in the bayview and it's preparing it for the years to come. great honor to recognize some of those people that have helped make it happen. i want to recognize the leadership of debra, our project manager. she couldn't be here today. debra has been a came poison -- champion working with all of our partners and a great design creating a bold and sophisticated and community based design. walter spent many afternoons talking to many to what they wanted to see and it's a great design. i also want to give a special

really excited about it. this is personal for me because i grew up in this neighborhood and like supervisor cohn, i didn't take dance classes but i did take ballet classes here. i want to thank the wonderful team of architects and debra freedom who is not here and walter elliot. i want to let you know while the renovation is going on and the building is closed we will be here. our presence will be felt on the third street corridor and we have satellite directly accrue is the street and wonderful staff and

>> we've never been in so much focus worldwide and will not be this this is a the moment in time when a story going and make a wish is a program that fulfills wishes for children we operate in every cities there are 62 chapters. our chapter was formed in 8984

we fulfilled 24 wishes. our chapter covers from movntd ray 17 communities and we expect to fully 3 hundred and 50 wishes this year. we send verizon's it out to the wish families and interviews the wish child and if you do their heartfelt wish then go to work to make it happen. dismissals is a 5-year-old boy who was diagnosing diagnosed with life without parole when he was 20 months old he's 5 hose now in remission he had his port removed hose monopoly on the chemotherapy. this particular wish the parents

wanted to wait until he had energy. i began assigning this wish with the family in march and started to understand the two miles how are we going to achieve that i made a bold statement into turning this into goth am city. it codify catapulted. so, now it's a much for ininaccurate indicate from the divorce. people starting twoet and reposting and it went viral. it was incredible about make a wish he wanted to be thinking

about being batman. there's been a lot of super issues that have happened cross the country but i think that can only happen in san francisco the mayors on board and the city hall it's an incredible outpouring and i love how san francisco is in the spotlight here and people around the world sending their love to san francisco. you kids we thank you for your encourage and we wish we can erase the pain we hope this is the day of magic and that you'll remember this forever. bat kid forever in san francisco >> san francisco is unique in this way and it's part of our

>> here. >> commissioner loftus? >> here. >> we have a quorum mr. president and also with us is the chief of police gregory sur and hicks. >> welcome to the san francisco police meeting and before we start i want to announce that we adjourn in the honor of fallen police officers or former police officers, and unfortunately tonight, we have to adjourn in the honor of two officers who passed away recently and we will do that in their honor, but before we move into the meeting a little bit of background about the officers. the first officer everyone knows him as jr, and james richards was assigned to company a, central station, he is 50 years old. he is married. he has been a member of the san francisco police department for over 20 years.

he is a native san franciscan, and went to macatire high school and played football at city college and sacramento state university and also an accomplished musician, dj, and everyone says that he was quite the character. and he was serving at central station at the time when he passed suddenly, and without any warning. and so we will adjourn in his honor. and secondly, we also lost a 37-year veteran of the san francisco police department, officer stewart who was assigned to the permit bureau and prior to that he was one of the original officers at the international airport and leaves a wife and two children and i mentioned about him is that he always had a warm smile and a big smile for everybody. and both of these members the san francisco police department, remembers the officers for justice. and so, we will adjourn in their honor and honor of their family for many years of service and they will be

my name is jackie bison i am currently a resident in the tenderloin and my time this evening i wanted to spend to first of all thank the police commission for our attempted meeting that we actually did have one and it got hijacked. i want to apologize, for the bad public behavior of those who invaded from the mission who believed that they could come to the tender loin and act a fool and prevent tender loin residents from feeling that they have the opportunity to have this once in a year hopefully, i think that we have to wait another 12 months, but, this opportunity to be able not only to address the commission but have you closer than you are right now. i want to thank the commissioners for and the chief for their extreme patience i

don't have that kind, and they soldiered on with our meeting and you showed an incredible amount of decorum and apparently they were raised by wolves but i do not want to insult the wolfs but wolves are some of my favorite animals. but where they learned their lack of manners and expected it to be acceptable, and to come into my turf, and act afool, i really resented that. and to have someone come all the way from santa rosa honey you should have just stayed there. but again, you were so patient, and so gracious, that i was very pleased to have you as our police commission. and i hope that it won't take 12 months for you to come back to the tender loin, maybe those of us in the hood can do a little street justice to make sure that it does not happ
