respectively. on item five, the approval of recommended two projects for expenditure of 1.15 million dollars and now the newly available prop aa funds and we had some discussion questions which the world will will long remember before approving the recommendation, unanimously for your item six, which we felt was a request for $250,000. i think that you see it as a request for something more than that. but it was for the safe streets awareness and in addition to that, 39,000 dollars, for balboa park circulation study and again after the study and we voted to approve the $250,000 for the safe streets awareness and decidesed to defer the voting or approving the balboa park circulation study, and the recommendation to implement the findings and the study until we saw the final report.

we had a little bit of a discussion on another item which was an information item on the vision of zero update and one of us, me, expressed what the concern that while these are important safety recommendations, implementing them might be difficult because of sequa restrictions, and will effect our concerns about that have, and it is probably minimal, but you as an elected body may have more effect than we do. >> that is the end of it for this month, thank you. >> thank you, any questions for mr. larkin? >> anything none, let's open it up to the public, is there anyone that would like to speak, seeing none, public comment is closed. >> call the next item. >> item four, recommend appointment of two members to the geary corridor bus rapid transit citizens advisory

committee and this is an action item. >> colin dental post. >> this begins on item 18 and it is the appointment of the two new members to the bus rapid citizen's advisory xhity, and aims to bring the pedestrian improvements to the corridor and we are currently in the environmental review phase of the project, and the brt, and the current caa meets bi monthly and provides input as we move forward, and it consists of 13 members, and some of which represents the specific neighborhoods along the corridor and also, at large seats, and we recently had two members, resigned due to a conflict of interest with new employment opportunities and there is currently one seat that is designated for the representative of the richmond district and a second that are at large seat that are opened

on the cac, and we advertised opening on the cac back in august of 2013 and again in december of 2013, and we have been continuously accepting applications since that time. we have received 20 applications for the eligible for the at large seat and of those, 12 are eligible for the richmond seat and the attachment one in your packet, beginning on page 22, summarizes the structure of the cac as well as the applications that we have received. and as a reminder the staff does not provide the recommendations on who to appoint, we just provide the information on the candidates for your consideration. and there is also an enclosure with all of the applications provided for you. and we have informed the candidates and all of the candidates that we recommend that they attend the hearing today, and although it is not required. and i have heard from several candidates who plan to be here today, and there are several

other candidates who i know were not able to attend as well. and so, with that said, unless there are questions, i will turn it over to candidates who are present and would like to say a few words about their candidacy. >> thank you, i wanted to say first of all that as the environmental review is winding up for this critical project for the geary bus rapid transit, we are really close to making some major steps forward with the project so these cac members are really critical and i wanted to thank paul or pabu, neha and matthew goldberg for their service and expertise that they brought and especially as the richmond district residents knowing transit and transportation issues and i am hoping to replace them with others that are really knowledgeable about the richmond district, but in

the whole geary corridor and i want to thank marga. ry for being here on behalf of the planning for the richmond and i know that jonathan forester who is one of the candidates had a work emergency and was planning to be here and could not be here today. and so mr. dental post has asked that any of the candidates could come together to give a statement. >> maybe, miss hum brown and other candidates come forward. >> okay. and miss hum brown? >> please? >> good morning, i'm actually margy. here? yeah. >> you got that one. >> i just wish it. >> yeah. and that will be better. sorry, either microphone i believe works is that right? >> this one is further away and

so you can go with that mic. >> if you could use that mic. thanks. >> please use this mic? >> yes. >> i am margy and i am here as an emergency as well as a representative the planning commission. and planning association for the richmond district and the neighborhood organization and plus have been around since 1970. and as a member of the par, which is just the planning association for the richmond, we are to follow the brt, project, ever since the inception and we will provide a lot of comments, and our latest comment and public information to our community, was in our newsletter in the winter of 2014. and as you can see, we have a

large spread on brt. and so, the idea is to keep our constituents not, informed of what is going on on the project. and i would like to submit this for the members. several copies in there. and for myself, i have been a muni rider, or public transportation rider all of my life. and i have believe in the public transportation. and i say for the analyst i am especially, i am especially keen on watching how the transportation system is working. and the one thing that concerns me now thank you so much.

>> thank you. >> you are welcome. >> next speaker? >> hello. my name is jason whitney, and i live along the geary corridor in district two on palm avenue, one block away from the richmond district. and i work downtown and i take the 38 every day, to work. and the reason why i want to

join the committee is because i believe that this reindicates quite a bit of economic opportunity for the people living in the area for two reasons and there are quite a few empty storefronts in the richmond and i think that the addition of a professional class that works downtown would create disposable income for people to spend in that area and i think that the same thing is that this project allowed disadvantaged people who do have jobs downtown to avoid the difficulties that keep them from entering the middle class and one story that stuck with me from childhood is the friend that attended school with me in high school and had his mother's radiator break on his car and because of that payment he was no longer able to make the tuition payments and had to leave the school in the middle of summer. >> that is what people to avoid is having access to cheap and reliable transportation and in the era that is driven by the data, and i think that the government efforts are going to be judged on the return on

investment on the taxpayers, and i think that the brt systems that we proposed as a city, and i think that they are really important to the future, of san francisco. and this is why i would like to dedicate my personal time and business and voice to this project. and as a member of the committee. and thank you, whitney, thank you. >> next speaker? >> good morning, commissioners. my name is jeff and i am a member of district six, 925 geary street and i have lived there for 18 years now. and when i first moved into san francisco in 1970, muni cost 25 cents to go anywhere at any time of day and night and you could get there very easily. and nowadays, that we have the people that come in from the suburbs and using the muni system and the geary street corridor is a nightmare. and services is cut back on

weekends and it is like san francisco muni does not understand that there are just and there are more people now in san francisco, on the weekends that there ever have been. and being a rider on a basis, i have five bus lines in a two block radius of my house which is all part of the geary street corridor system we are looking at new having to do the new construction as a new plan is proposed for fillmore and filling in the hole and the widening of the streets there and we are also looking at a junction with the van ness corridor because with the new cpm hospital that is going up there that is going to bring a huge amount of people into the neighborhood. as having been a community activist as someone who was lived in the city since 1970 on and off i came to san francisco specifically because san francisco has had and still does have one of the world class public transportation systems in the world.

so i would like to as a community person and someone who even though i don't know all of the ins and outs of what is going on here at city hall, i do feel that i can come in and that i can bring in a lot of good ideas that may be new because i don't have perspective that other people do, thank you very much and i hope to sit on your committee. >> thank you. >> and actually there is a question from commissioner breed. >> i just want to know how often you take the 38 geary. >> everidy. >> thank you. >> at least once a day. >> and in fact just one more thing, i found out that instead of taking the 38 i can now walk down and take the underground faster than 38 will get me there. >> and that is the crisis issue. >> thank you. >> thank you, mr. warner. >> next speaker? >> hi, my name, excuse me, my name is renee henosa and i have lived in san francisco for about 15 years now and 6 of

those in the richmond and i have used public transportation the whole time that i have lived in san francisco and i am some what of a little embarrassed to say this of a public transportation nerd. and i would like to outline some of the reasons why i think that i would be a good choice for a seat. and i don't really have a specific agenda, and you know, i live in the neighborhood, and i see a lot of what is going on, and i have got the ideas but i don't have a specific agenda or nor do i represent a specific group. i take the 38, not on a daily basis, but just about every day and i take the 1 ax to work and back on a daily basis but i only live two blocks away from geary. and i worked for the city traffic engineer as an intern for the city of montereywhen i was getting my mp a and i enjoyed the work that i was doing there and it was nice to liase between the city hall and

the residents there. and i enjoy the planning and aspect behind it and another reason that i have lived and worked in quite a few different countries and i have seen how different countries incorporate different forms of transportation and i think that is something that i can bring to the table and i would like to, you know, in closing just bring these various experiences to hopefully improve the developments of the gcac. and that is all thatvy for you today. >> thank you. >> and it is mr. kenahosa? >> yes. >> thank you. >> thank you. >> are there any other candidates that would like to speak? >> seeing none, we will close the candidates and open this up for public comment and is there anyone from the public that would like to speak? please come forward? and it is mr. brian larson from the cac. >> that is who i am. >> and i would like to speak on behalf of brown and i have worked with her off and on coming up on a decade now and
