3:03 pm
don't get to play because there's no lit field and on top of we're coming with drought you don't have to water of the turf. an amazing project when crocker was slated to go we had games there and night fights would break out but now no fights no bad elements the same thing can happen the beach la where they have areas around the fields and it it does have bathrooms. thank you >> thank you. next speaker, please. >> morning thank you for laughing us to be here. >> i represent our 5 thousand adult players men and women who

3:12 pm
is so bad we have to use it because the fields get hammered and you can't use them. but to get to the point of 34 years of battering of fields that have been there since the 40s and 50s golden gate park ass is 11 hundred acres let's get this done. thank you >> thank you. >> (calling names) if you could come up please. good morning, again catherine howard sf ocean edge we request the contract be taken off the consent calendar. the appeals court is considering the lower courts opinion on the
3:13 pm
environmental impact report. as yet there's no information from the monitoring plan we've requested a point surveys from the department but apparently, the department doesn't have any data or at least that's the response to our sunshine report it didn't include reporting on the nests in the area. as of other environmental issues this will not save water we have to sunshine that they are different from the water you usage this project will cost water and grass is a major segregation plant anyone who says this is doesn't is not true. the toxic materials and the
3:14 pm
guarantee lack of the costs beyond what the city is committed to you building you have the letters. we believe those concerns need to be addressed in writing our confident before this contract. for the soccer teams we've supported the win win the west side playground this is the preferred alternative in the cities environmental impact report it will provide an continental number of hours for children while protecting the habitat beauty. your decision today will have the future of golden gate park for generations we ask you table this construction contract and
3:15 pm
reconsider the sunset playgrounds thank you. >> joan there are two items you want to speak on so you'll have 3 minutes for each item. >> you want them both now. >> they're both content. >> i'm joan wood i am one of the rare birds i'm a third generation san franciscan my mother born her and my parents met and married in san francisco so i have the respect for golden gate park you people don't have the same respect it's amazing and even underlying i frightening that you will
3:16 pm
approve artifical turf it's toxic i don't know how you can allow this to happen you have children. i object to the 60 feet high lights it's not been studied what that is going to do to let habitat of the birds. other thing is 55 trees have going to be cut down they're called bushes by the planning department. i think you all should have so touch of shame for approving this fictitiously turf it's dangerous and i want to say like presently itself are not opposed
3:17 pm
to soccer. there's a procession of people that get excited but soccer i agree with that we're not trying to keep soccer away from san francisco children but make it safe. i hope you'll postpone this at least until next month we'll have a bitter experience we went over there it was set up we can't testify they moved the deadline up an hour so people that chartered a bus we didn't get to testify but supervisor wiener and mr. gings beggar got to speak but the protesters didn't get to speak. thank you now i'm going to segue

3:19 pm
everyone safeties has been a concern for everyone beach - as a ref there's a 4r50ish9 but since the turf has been ardent we don't have to cancel any more when we have folks come to san francisco they can go out and enjoy the parks that's it there's greatest fats i don't know if it's a win-win situation about moving the turf somewhere else is it okay it have it over here what's the problem with beach o lay. thank you >> thank you.
3:20 pm
>> next speaker hi i'm a 35 year residents - my credit ability was immediately - >> i've raised two children the first of whom is raising his own player that player was not allowed to go to field games it is not under it was a rough part of town but now i've got a 16-year-old player he can go safely to crocker but now that's swarmed with other families and kids. the issue of toxic it and bay how many lined up to oppose it
3:21 pm

3:22 pm
initially turf it wouldn't cost that much to study and if it is we made a mistake and if not he really want to know if it's safe. it will cost more after construction i urge you to consult other and determine whether or not this is an issue >> thank you. next speaker. >> i'm a parent at star king elementary school i have one child that is graduated and the other one is in middle school. i helped put together a soccer team with one of the most diverse schools it has a large
3:23 pm
number of students in the general strand around the neighborhood. it is the most diverse school in the district. soccer brought all the community together when you have schools that have different programs the kids and parents the teachers don't even really know each other. sunlight of soccer and weekly soccer practices nearby the katrero center families got to know each other and it brought our schools together. the cool thing about beach la it's such a long drive but the most amazing thing is it gets us out there and it gets families that are on the east side out to beach lay and we get to know neighborhoods we're in. so we're happy that the facility
3:24 pm
is there but we're not happy about the state of the facility we're really having a difficult time convincing our kids it's safe. we fluid to make the changes we're mackey appreciate it as a parent who cares about environmental causes. i would normally be opted to this but in this particular situation there are way two many kids from low income families kids who's families have to leave san francisco because of the affordability crisis and we need to give the families a reason to stay here we can't didn't have them moving away to
3:25 pm
