community has a lot of challenges around access to health care and employment and safety and a lot of challenges shared by the lgbt community in general but a lot of unique challenges that go beyond that. i know that so many people worked hard to make sure the transgender community what move forward and address those challenges but some things that get lost in the shuffle is so many positive strengths in the transgender community we get caught up with the challenges we don't focus enough publicly will the about how far and strength of this community just a few kwoogz weeks ago at the transgender center we subjected the biggest event of the day remembering the crimes and the

committee of the transportation authority that was held on april 1, '02 hours after a 3-year-old boy was hit in the richmond he's still roar from. i'm grateful to supervisor kim and supervisor yee and prefkt of that the community has come together and start delivering results we have a lot of work to do and but the signs of progress is encouraging. i also have to say there was another incident two people injured in my district on friday as well who are seriously injured from a car colliding with a mini stop so there's a lot of education to be had. i'm especially glad to see the

sophisticated projects out of review and appreciate director reiskin and other head departments the transportation authority we're proud to make our resources available to help deliver projects across the city one example is the prop program that's to refund two really great projects the 1 is mcallister street both of which are on the walk first network i want to thank a couple folks and their staff wore working in the community to permitting prioritize two prop fund. as a reminder for the people

prop w a funds are on the registration that the voter approved and finally speaking of transportation ability i want to thank john hayley and his staff who generously spent the afternoon to provide a tour of the transit district we >> offhand how they face the service each day among the crowded sfalts. we were struck by the investment of the katrero yard this houses our trolley cars. at the green yard their producing parts that are no

longer available and they climb into pits to work on the under carnival. what was really impressive how much the muni staff are putting together resources to fix what should be minor problems if we had the up-to-date material. fortunately, we've been helping to address those needs and toured the metro east that's a more than facility that will oscillate the burdens of the yard and it will add storage for our to 60 foot couples and finally your central replacement fund will help with the fund to provide the transportation

and cap resources that is different from the investigators proposal the investment in high speed rail where senator steven burger talks about other transportation. we'll be working hard with the counterpart to figure out how to best work with the santa fe san francisco needs across the state. transportation thirty discussions are continuing this month we've been doing outreach with sfmta to get the input from organizations the capital committee will look at the proposals at the may fifth meeting after which the board will continue the measures for the fall ballot the deadline is

may 20th. we continue to work with city agencies an active application this is a reminderer for the walking and biking and will feature a non-infrastructure project coordinated with supervisor yee's office and other trail improvements before we so willed this i'll mention the ac p the active program they're going to apply for fund into in san francisco and the east bay. the zero vision committee i want to note the committee had a great meeting it was well attend and it talked about did role of

the committee and the public involvement in the enforcement activity of the program the next meeting will be on june 8th and the mta draft list of 20 proposed projects is available for viewing on the website. we'll find a easy shortcut for the public soon. on the next several updates with a our project conditions with the state and local region level is the transit the ct c voted to have future state money into the project needs in order to complete the large project on time so the ct c delayed the

program of $2 million for the chinatown brood study, however, we were able to keep the funds in the right time slot to be ready by working on a swap locally with dpw. those are some of the behind the scenes to make sure we're funded and it's a complex sort funding environmentalist and often challenges produce delivery and the traffic projects where our staff worked hard to wish work with the ata with the two-way operations that will not trigger the quality air we tried to get the funding and ran up against those to convert those projects

to two ways with about the air quality and were able to get the funding identified. locally we're pleased to say that the urban tree guide the national and ushering guide is more available to the streets effort we want to thank caltrain's directors and secretary for their advocacy in turning this into the reality that the design guide is being implemented will be the reserve for san francisco and cities up and down the state of california. an example is for us sfmta will be able to critique circle

tracks. another piece of good news the sfmta has adapted the transit effectiveness project and finishing the phase and the venice project is on your desk for both projects we're vshtd designs with our staff and trying to assure that each of those is reviewed we'll be holding an enter departmental meeting to finalize the outstanding issues around scope and cost and schedule and be bringing a report back on both projects. next, we want to drawing your attention to the yerba buena island ramp project the construction is under a way we're encountering an urban

accepted challenge of north of birds on the island. we've identified this was anticipated with the environmental input report trying to cooperate with caltrain with the costs of working around the birds north site but if the north hablz continue there will be a delay so to offset that we're letting the contractor work on other parts we'll bring an update to see how we can work around this challenge. we're pleased and thank the board for speb the transportation authority as the agency this will help to implement the centerpiece of the transportation program which ask a center project those are fees

for town hall and parking fees to support the bicycle on the oimd in addition, this includes followed out projects for the 28 line in addition to the m ocean project that has completed our procurement and we request a proposal so we began procurement we hope to get that going not spring the transit project continues with our advisory meeting on thursday 24 we'll meet to hear the sfmta project proposals as well as the infrastructure plan for the block development we're seeking a member to represent the enar he will side for the geneva seat

go to sf.org and the bridge replacement project is moving forward a recent caltrain inspection of that bridge identified evidence of deterioration for emergency repairs so supervisor cowen said authorized the repairs to the bridge the repairs don't effect the traditional bye the bridge must be replaced so we're seeking a caltrain track plan to have that ahead of the local bridge program so we'll be doing outreach on the bridge project including at your seniors advisory meeting tomorrow night on 1455 market street on the

condition of the status and the street vacation project to maximize contracting associated with those projects. tiger planning the good news on the transit front we're partnering with that on a large $3 million study we hope to receive grant fund from the federal government to look at the transmitting transbay and the connecting services from the recent adapted transportation plan and set up to prioritization and capacity improvements for consideration in the next regional transbay plan in 2017. on a related note i attend on update from tom and gras who

presented at a recent breakfast event to the community both their plans to improve bart and for anyone who has taken bart those places are exploding many ridership. so bart discussed they're big 3 projects to shore up capacity for maintenance facility and i'll keep you posted on that we'll know by summer. we attend a spur panel on highway 101 to present on san francisco to see how we might develop a more efficient carpool lanes and possibly even explore an express lanes where the

drivers will pay a fee for the project. i'm pleased to introduce defied our new planning director. we were pleased that david joined our agree and has gotten out in the community he comes from the offices where he led several bicycle sharing procurement as well as expansion projects for the brt system david has an extensive transit and planning background he worked in the city with the transportation and research institute. he studied engineering at the uc berkley and holds dual master degrees and we thank david for joining us we hope to introduce
