replacement aside from the condition of the bridge the impetus is an effort to replace it in such a way it that facilitate a oakdale station. so we've been working and the transportation authority board approved in july of last year an option after we considered a number of orpgsz to facilitate the bridge and the local access through the area. the option was the replacement of the caltrain bridge it is shown with the circle. the station is the orange portion so the objective was to accommodate further proofrmz and the option that was selected in last july to do that is the

bedroom it closess the vacation before you today that will be before the board tooth and coordinated with a new student city called the connection our that will provide local access through the ear. that's a little bit of context we were looking for the la county of the futuristic station so as caltrain is moving forward with the replacement of this bridge we're working with the dpw and the planning department on design and environmental contemporaneous for the connect our road with caltrain and with the further construction timeline of that. so given the board immediate then ever need to replace the bridge we're going to bring in

the construction of the connect our road immediately behind the bridge so the timeline is it will be under construction beginning in the spring and completed in the fall and then dpw will construct the connect our road in the fall of next year and taking 6 months. that's the overall context and we've gone through a long community process to make sure we're meeting all the sometimes previously competing but hopefully, this is the solution that brings the need to replace the bridge and access to the area and the need for the future station to be able to happen. with that i'll be happy to answer any questions >> okay. seeing none mr. chair, i want to give comments.

3:05 am
san francisco was innovated with the so-called rail corridor program. the cdc was directed to defund the queen bridge replacements because the station and pass was going to be replaced with an embankment. in the time swap the formula would the full bridges in san mateo this work was completed in 2012 and fast-forward to 2014 and the spending an additional $13 million for the exact 4 bridges because the city of san mateo wants the tracks so if you want to go go ahead with accident legislation first of all, the pets can't cross and the viebltd felt old caltrain station from the transportation

alliance will be severely commodity and in closing it's time to say enough to have the city evaluate the option >> thank you. any thomas on thomd seeing none, public comment is closed. >> sorry i didn't mean to impede on your public comment and thank you for the account for the last 10 years. so you you've heard in the report there's an urgency to get the bridge repaired and i request ask for your support for the overall resolution and amendments >> great. thank you. colleagues supervisor cowen has submitted some amendments to item 2. can i have a motion to adapt those amendments >> so moved.
3:07 am
>> we'll take that without objection. and to the full board with positive recommendation. >> we'll we'll take that without objection. >> okay mraild madam clerk, any other business before this commission? there's no further business. >> then we're adjourned >> we're here to raise awareness and money and fork for a good accuse. we have this incredible gift

3:16 am
of you (clapping) it was hard to believe we wanted to do it better not in the bull doing so kind of way like in the jazz and 70s we left people to their own challenges we were going to say let's invest in people first and have them join us to create jobs and then offer a joint vision for people. and that's what we've been doing in the hope sf program to mechanic at the infrastructure as we've than what happened the staff in revising all of our public housing i thank hud and leaders nancy pelosi they're helping me to establish the leadership with wood we have a
3:17 am
new model to invested in people's buildings first once we offer them ways to train for the future jobs in the future and a series of services on site that have involved the hucht and fire department and youth engagement programs all on site that investment pays off now i've got a belief in a basis to have hope. this is what we're doing together in revoilg our public housing spaces. i want to thank a development team jon stewart company you've been wonderful and really making some great, great headway on this (clapping.) you have a strong team the richard housing corporation has
3:18 am

3:19 am
singing and dancing along third street she's wonderful to work with and i know the people in the district deserve here leadership. i want to thank her for our boldness on this. also david lee we share the same basketball team. thank you for your leadership at the department of housing and working with the whole are portfolio sf is fantastic it's something i think more and more every time we mention the title and word it give us hope to hundreds of thousands of people in the city by gives hope to washington, d.c. to see models and models after we get stimulus money and federal appropriations to help us we can only do with
3:20 am
with a wonderful commitment and fellow through by nancy pelosi she's been there ever step of the way. every time i can't recognize what's going on she clarifies things and when the money flows and it does because people building and have hope in san francisco. we want to continue to being a model we get everybody together and we'll take those challenges on directly anticipate end the isolation of our public housing resident and have them a full residents you can only feel that strongly when you see the community rebuilt and the mixed income of the resident without losing our residents at all gaining a foot hole in the city
3:21 am
that has the willingness to incorporate all the people. may i introduce our wonderful congresswoman leader nancy pelosi. thank you (clapping.) thank you very much. mayor ed lee for your leadership for your effectiveness he's a man that gets the job done he bring his skills and commitment to making keeping san francisco a city of families in order to do that we have to have affordable housing. i associate that with his remarks of all the people he's acknowledged this morning and especially to the residents. this is all about you. and >> yeah. >> all right. and it was not that long ago person here for the groundbreaking and asked for
3:22 am
your suggestions and we were generous with them mostly to be able to stay if you worried about through the tradition of groundbreaking to what we're celebrating today. i'm proud of the federal proclamation i want to acknowledge secretary for the 50 millions for the city and county of san francisco and more to come and the $100 million in tax credits that the federal government's has enabled the private sector to loan in the tax credits that's a collaboration we were early with early money to pressure this initiative and what was really important at the federal level we're excited about affordable housing and market value rate
3:23 am
housing here that weather we did didn't diminish the public housing sector of that that's an important priority for optd as we go forward with his reenlightening and through there's something part of the public housing authority and hud the rental demonstration program that that's a demonstration program the more success we have here demonstrates this can be done and serves the model to the nation so we take pride if what this means to our residents and individual families those who have lived no public housing will continue to do so and the fact we have affordable housing is part of it and we have the market rate by none of the units were distributed that way it was very shall we say democratic's
3:24 am

3:26 am
that enables to us do the same i join you mayor in expressing the sadness in susan value, of course, your respect is for them. seems like yesterday we were here from the groundbreaking and the developers deserve a great amount of credit it goes to show you what a sense of community can do and remember in that word community is the word unit. we come together and find our consensus our goals and respect for the people who we serve the unit i didn't have purpose is something that maximums san francisco great thanks to edge who's concerned here today (clapping.) thank you leader pelosi i'd like
3:27 am
to bring to the stage who partnerships with all of us supervisor cowen >> good morning it's a beautiful spring day i want to share information not long ago we broke ground in 2010 at the site but earlier this year we break ground at the senior seminar the george center and no lesson e less than that we droug on the asian park we're on a role ladies and gentlemen, and every step of the way we've had leader pelosi and mayor ed lee. so thank you. just want to start that off with a fact of history back in 2007
3:28 am
this very site this very development was named the worst housing development by the federal government urban department by hud in a relatively short amount of time we're here going from worse to best. just like everything we do in san francisco we do it the best because we're the best and important to, know who we work for the best resident in the city and county of san francisco (clapping) where the delipidated and uninhabitable temporary housing once stood we see beautiful brand new structural sound housing where families will have is peace of mind knowing their children will play in stave green spaces in their
3:29 am
neighborhood. the mayor said we're delivering a promise not only to rebuild the housing we're delivering on but it's a promise to rebuild a community that's what is most important. a promise to instill dignity in a neighborhood and more importantly in the people. this groundbreaking represents the rival of a neighbor and the nexus been all the projects from the shipyard to candle stick to the tee line. this was once thriving community has been fighting for improvements for years and i'm proud to say we're back on track we're claiming our victory. now is not a time to get comfortable this is just the beginning. there's a lot of work that needs
3:30 am
to be done today, we celebrate the completion of one hundred and 7 homes and tomorrow we celebrate asian pacific islander list griffin and after that sunny value and the katrero hill. i want to thank the mayor for the investment in the community - itself up here i'm sorry. i want to thank leader pelosi for her devotion to san francisco to john stewart and the housing corporation none of this would be possible and tiffany with the infrastructure as well as the commissioners, thank you. again, i want to thank entrepreneurs community partners and the san francisco foundation and welcome back our brother fred blackwell and director olsen
