(yelling). john (clapping) his been a usage to me we say we were friends and he works tireless also to bring peace to

the southeast part of the city he makes sure there is funding for the organizations on s front line worked tirelessly with the police department and community members and it's outreach is so far beyond the community it's a privilege to honor you john you're an incredible man and family man, i'm excited and humbled but it's amazing to see you john has to leave us today he has a network of feeding people without food he going goes to places and hands out food in alice griffith and on hunters view all across the south eastern neighborhoods this

is a gift from god he's amazing (clapping) and this is a gentleman i wish i could give you more than a certificate of honor i wish i could give you a check a metal or the other holiday in our name but please accept this small token of your works in the i did not get outreach and in appreciation for the community in the southeast the sfoiveng board of supervisors hereby sends our best wishes to you in honoring of asian pacific islander pacific american heritage month >> thank you. thank you. i'm humbled i'm honored. i want to give praise and glory first and also i want to pay my respects to those asian pacific islander americans that have laid the foundation for folks like myself to stand upon i want to pay that respect. as far as work it's not a one-man team there's a lot of of us in the room and some out in the neighborhood and also want to make sure that food returns get their credit as well as they're the folks that get us food the team packages it and gives it out there's a lot of us that did the work i've honored

district it's my honor to add another person to that list as we celebrate asian pacific islander heritage month if we can ask the amazing person to come up. (yelling) (clapping.) gainer this is one of the proudest moments to reck you today he was raised in san francisco and grew up between left turn and hunters vail and the mission he's the eldest of the brothers she's joined by her parent and children she credits

her parents for inspiring her to be involved in the community her grandmother helped with the dance. she got wrapped up in the street life in the early teens but 15 she got involved with rap the real alternative program and got out of the gang life and being mentored by a variety of adults that helped her to get leadership capacities. she moved to care for her grandmother since moving there she's been a resident that effective addresses the turf violations in that community the fact that violence is take place

between passion, prejudice and latinos and african-americans from various housing developments over the turf disputes. people told beganer that bringing peace to this dwelling would be impossible but she refused not to listen is he refused to moved. she's now taking her advocacy to another level pro bono over the last of months she's working to bring together law enforcement and good times together to work on public safety and the dwellings and bringing much needed programs to the young people and again pro bono free of charge. because of the relationships that beganer has developed a lot of the youth and elderly and the old shop folks sfort support her

work the source the problems recognition how much gainer is important the kids can go to garfield park without being shot and those folks who were feeling like they were in prison they can go out past 6:00 p.m. arrest the nonprofit leaders tell us it gainer brings people together to better serve the community she's truly a bridge between the city our community organizations and the dwellings and we're grateful for the roll she's placed she's indeed saved lives she's organizing the ferries asian pacific islander non-violence

conference on june 3rd through the 13 for the purpose of expiring young people in the asian pacific islander to address violence. this is the first time that a convention about took place for all the workshops and other services will be run by asian pacific islanders themselves (clapping.) gainer wants to use this to raise up and expire asian pacific islander i did not know people who survive from the disproportion at violence and incarceration and drop-out rates and rates of suicide she wants to bring them together with positive role models that are doing positive things and gainer there's no better role model than you. so thank you gainer and i want

here. i have so many people to thank my parents and we come from a community family john and i are related sometimes (laughter) one of my favorite uncles my mom's baby brother and we all work in different agencies but i could see my grandmother and the work was in our community so keeping the heritage of asian pacific islanders it's funny i'm obey recognized from the mission that's praurment female so some folks are asking where are you getting awards from the mission district i've been telling you

i'm salmon the whole time. the work that has the movement that's been happening in the dwellings and all around the city is due to the real cv o that are willing to come out and fight and advocate and work they're hard it because nonprofit it's called nonprofit for a reason. so without all the support and everyone working together and the conversation this ward is for everyone we have valerie besides my family this award is for all of them and our kids in the back from u p say hi (clapping) i've seen f d it and ah m f and

the kids with you (clapping) (yellin (yelling). so i know many of us know zoning she was born and raised in is a gone and come to the u.s. in 1975 at 11 after ref her bachelors degree from down south she came to the bay area for more than 8 years she's been in the office mental health the recorder and business private property revenue generating 40

percent of the revenue. as a recorder she oversaw two addictions in the office exciting business units leading 40 civil serve personnel. she's stepped in to take on a variety of the nearly decade in the office and 200 in 2345067 he was the departments overseer of personnel and i g operations. she was the acting assessor recorder when phil tang went off the to state assembly until carman chiu was appointed as the new assessor. it was competently if i did in 2008, and 2013 when we resumed i guess twice the matters of quality in san francisco and in

california providing phenomenal support to the first phil thanking and then carman chiu and started issuing marriage licenses over the weekend we have the fear of san francisco when we get marriage equality someone is going to step up and take it away so thank you for acting quickly. and zone also in addition to our work she served as the san francisco director to john burton and served in the clinton mischievous working at the department of housing authority and, of course, our own roberta. zone has worked for elective and

other places including john burton and willie brown and some of the really more the shireer members of our political family. i got to know zone when i came to san francisco as a 27-year-old gay man and got involved that the nonexistent lgbt center and zone was one of the persons who helped to build the center and she really helped to get it off the ground and made sure it was a reality. zoning is married to her wife kathy they've been together for 18 years i see kathy back there videotaping and they have two daughters at the lectern and

live down the street from me in the castro and have been long term residents. so zero i want to say from can carmen chiu she regretted she couldn't be here but it's been a honor to work with you over the years and look forward to many more years of the same so congratulations (clapping.) thank you supervisor wiener i want to thank you for the opportunity to say i'm honored to be in district 8 honor reand i'm proud to be a constituent of yours my name is my family and i appreciate what you do and work on issues that matter to the district simple things like

coming to our neighborhood community meetings to talk about issues that are important to negotiating, you know, with all the stakeholders in the city and make sure that the castro construction project it's not it's minimized so we have the activities in june to legislation you've introduced effecting the ellis act or the miles act we had a chance to work together on the miles act it's a great honor and professionally i've been grateful for our support over the years i want to acknowledge my wife of 18 years kathy and our two doss that are to be told had to leave school a little bit earlier and happy to be here

with mom but i have lifelong friends and people who really did all the work in the assessors reported office i want to make sure i acknowledge them all of my colleagues and friends please just raise your hand (clapping) and to the city and county have been able to generate money for your much needed services i thank you and it's such an honor
