for all the lease holders over the past 52 years given giving time the current lease model is not useful the lease holder of the old property is too much for one inhibit to bear pipes are busting and limbs are snapping when the wind blows and the water prices have doubled in the last year and an additional 40 percent the puc go says that will double in 20 years we're looking for party and fairness it is a great resource we love managing it we put our hoults into that everyday and hope to continue >> next speaker

9:04 am
glen eagles golf course is in my backyard i'm here in support of the fester to try to renegotiate a fair and equitable lease so mr. shaw can operate the glen eagles it's clear to us who are regular patrons it has to be a labor of love it's not going to be harding park but it has something and brings something unique to our community not only golfers but it serves as a sign of something in the community t it also is unique it's a 9 hole golf course so many of us who are working people who don't have a lot of time to play golf and glen eagle serves a purpose
9:05 am
i play in the middle of the day between work and get out and play and enjoy i know there's been point flt in the past some uses of the land for other purposes but as long time resident and a heavy yourself of mcclaren park that's a highly underutilized resource so from my prospective i don't see the golf course and it's conversion to other uses if it's contemplated to be worthwhile or worth on investment by the city that's my comments and i appreciate i giving me a couple of moments thank you. >> next speaker. >> my name is albert i started
9:06 am
playing golf in 1964 glen eagles was two years old i'm a senior citizen and can't afford to play harding and even shops i don't live within the city limits this course i can afford to play there i go to hunter's bay about 3 times a week it's got a history and gotten up in the golf world that's a hidden jewel everybody speaks about oh, i'm going to get robbed and killed there in 50 years there's only been one element of robber and the san francisco police department and a member of the club course he took care of of
9:07 am
the business and people had their property back and on top of people weren't from san francisco he somehow got their valuables back there must be a way to renegotiate this lesee couldn't tell you what to do it seems simple give this man a little bit of help so he can maintain this course and charley i've played with guys fluff and other people everybody comes up and increase a little bit of a money going but it's fun really hidden jewels of the city a lot of people don't know it's there
9:08 am
on behalf of the tom shaw and the golf course i appreciate your llgs to me. >> (clapping) >> if you can keep our applause down it will cut into the time. >> before you get started i want to call off a few more names (calling names) go ahead. >> good morning, commissioners general manager ginsburg i'm director at the west mission community technology street one of your facilities we've been in business since december of 2004 and initially start with the 9 year lease that 9 lease end in 2010 and since that point there's been the communication between my agency and yours we
9:09 am
were wondering what's your violation of the facility and should we expect to get and hear from you soon regarding the facility. >> thank you very much. thank you. >> next speaker. >> good morning. i'm peter diagnosis i play glen eagles for 25 years it gives me joy and it's easy to get to there's a community difficult to describe how you can drive up to that golf course and eel you'll see somebody i know you'll pack our bags and get out there and playing play it's easy to unmake a golf course you leave it a week and it will go to seed it's
9:10 am
extremely expensive to make a golf course if we invest a little bit of money the city seems like it is doing well and if it doesn't let's invest a little bit of money and things get tough let's revisit the problem i've lost some money to some of those guys out here and want the challenge to win it back (laughter). >> >> next speaker. >> hello, i'm eric i've take advantage of the some of the services at the w ta cti want to speak open on behalf of what would be lost if the lease is not renewed i was blown away from the advancement of job skills they do a lot of video
9:11 am
grateful i was blown away those resources available everything else in the community consist of really basic internet skills and how to compose an e-mail essentially. the lost to the community and the benefit and the quality of life that the w a t ct brings to the community is huge i see it as part of the trend san francisco is heading in terms of eliminating resources for low income people i see that as being a big blow to the community. so i check in with those guys every few months and take classes at san francisco state university and so the reason he was moved to come in here you
9:12 am
know, i had heard this was happening and he just think it would be a massive loss to the community i'd hyatt hate to see that happening >> thank you let me make an announcement we have 3 more cards we will extend the general public comment and i've been advised some of the staff have been detailed on item 7 i'd like to move that to the end of the agenda. >> i'll call out the last 3 cards (calling names) i don't know if i'm saying that right. there you go >> well. okay. what i'm trying to do is extend so i'll tell you what we'll cut it off
9:13 am
and continue under general public comment at the end. so i have to ask you to go ahead and take a seat we're going to only have those 3 people that turned in cards we'll go ahead and continue >> i'm david a homeowner in the mission district and a loyal player at glen eagles i have a lot of things to say i was moved by the resident that spoke one thing i did want to congratulate the general manager and commissioners on all the tournaments you're getting at harrods it's would you have for the city and golf and the interesting point what makes we really proud about glen eagles you can have the pga tour and get all those wonderful fence and sponsor them and support
9:14 am
them and all that goes with that. anticipate you can have the same moment a wonderful piece during the pga or during the w cc on glen eagles and think about how that benefits san francisco and shouz shows a diversity of people we put the protecting people and all the parents are going skyrocketing prices the skyline is going away everything is schang but you still care about the people and community. the one thing it strikes me how much tom has carried that course by themselves. there can be a little bit of parity and equality with was the
9:15 am
resources are putting into the golf courses you'll get the best resources from organized and the opinion that are there and just continue to be a delight show at the those events so come out on sunday you'll see a great tournament >> thank you. >> (calling names) tennessee and then we're closing public comment at this point and continue at item 13. >> good morning. i'm trooirl hoffman i've been playing glen elm i'm a member of the mention club and there at least three or four days a week. glen selgz a different praising plays it's one the places you can go out anytime you time i
9:16 am
don't play there because it's cheap you can go up there and everyone is your friend it's one of the places if it went out of the business i wouldn't know where to go if you go to harding people probably wouldn't talk to you it would be sad to see glen eagles could close >> thank you. >> thank you. next speaker. >> i'm leo martinez i live many the queer for 33 years i started taking lessons from the first contractor you had at glen eagle that was mcclaren park at this point the word stepchild i
9:17 am

9:18 am
community that's very important and i think the future of our community is hopefully going along with the future of what's happening in the waterfront and throughout the city it's a beautiful part of the city and mcclaren park is underutilized so i hope you support tom shaw and support a new contract for mcclaren thank you for your time. >> thank you. > next speaker. >> i'm a resident of the bayview also a member of the glen. i bought a blighted property fire damaged and invested a lot of time and money along the way
