see you on the machine >> just a quick comment we talked about this on the policy commission had a discussion we're grateful to you and the interims for all the work because it's very complicated and there are a number of people that want to make sure we are not requiring one hundred percent of roof panels people really want to have living roofs for habitat and water managed and people that point roof-decks to be up high and see the view i know it's complicated but i hope we work out the outdoors so they can took place i totally support in resolution we're studying it and doing things as appropriate but boy is it complicated and any rough timeline on the
3:32 pm
approval process. >> i'm hoping to have a final draft by late fall. but that's really a guess in the dark. there are so many unknowns and barriers because it's the first time through. we're very cognizant of all the other uses and add into our awareness and concern title 24 requires that a certain percentage of commercial and residential roofs are solar ready so this will be one piece we'll address and match the ordinance to >> okay. >> the compilation. >> that gives us baseline to be solar ready that's our baseline. >> yes. >> all right. did you get a copy of go solar 70 project program that went out maybe a

going up and a lot of that stuff is a downtown high-rise a lot of that stuff is, you know, kind of formerly spiritual areas and, you know, those places are, you know, generally their plans don't have anything on the roof if their tall buildings how do we capture the sun from the roofs and windows i'm occurs what's being built out there right now and to take an assessment of that, you know, because we are going through another moment here i don't know how much it will last but clearly the southeast district from china by an to the visitacion valley are about to get, you know, repopulated i

3:36 pm
question is how do we tackle our energy needs and energy independence needs and last but not least i want to make sure that solar remains in a domain that didn't get locked out from new folks. i mean getting into the electrical union is tough business and if, you know, all of a sudden they could opted the work you'll find a lot of people who were promised opportunity we've of people we've been training with the city dollars so i think a lot of time when we talk about the jobs that we may also want to gave me unions about this to make sure where the industry is going on that upgrades, you know, so you
3:37 pm
listen to a lot of people you need to make sure you have, you know, a roof or electrician and who does the work belong to where did it ultimately go to if we do a citywide aforementioned that will strike up a larger conversation regarding that i want to make sure you know, i want to make sure people get access those to those kinds of opportunity and certain unions are more challenging to get into than others. just on that one note we've seen clarification from the state saying that solar is multi craft work kind of opened up a lot of solutions on that front in the past year or so >> building trades they should put that on the same page and
3:38 pm
yeah. the building i know you're a member of the labor union so it's a good discussion it have. >> that was a weak one in the first place. that will be something in the report for containing here's the potential for the new solar in terms of looking at the commercial pipeline and the subsequential pipeline that's don't believe >> at some point in time awhile we're talking about this i, you know, if we can't build homes in san francisco; right? but you're going to have multi unit condo what's the policy around the electric vehicle, you know, because your precluded from having an electric car if you
3:39 pm
don't have a garage home we're not building anymore. >> that's an outstanding subject for another commission meeting that's a great point. >> if you - you might not be able to do the roof thing because the complications but that one right there is a straight shot. >> that's a good one. >> before we treason another motion i want to conform with our deputy city attorney owen we can forevermore before this thing becomes law have the commissioners name in honor of his important issue attached arrest all right. can i get a motion to approve. >> i move we
