it's exciting. learned this morning and actually received confirmation we have a champion on our proposal to oppose and prohibit the export of hazardous follows materials like cool and petroleum coke and be the first in the nation leader on this this is something the port has done it's a practice the port commission staff saying they're not interested in cool coming out our port. we're learned today that supervisor malia cohen as taken up this issue at the board of supervisors she introduced a resolution pledging the board of supervisors support for this effort to create this policy and if the resolution passes it also
7:10 am
encouraged the collaboration between the department of environment and the port department to present this to the board of supervisors in a report and a policy they can move to establish as city policy we've been looking for the champion at the board of supervisors supervisor malia cohen has done it not that long ago that's an exciting announcement to share. all right. any public comment on that item? seeing none, public comment is closed. and our last item and the future agenda items >> colleagues. >> like i said earlier i think i'd like to see us have the discussion about electric vehicle charging stations.

the just a second i forget so thank the mercy folks i want to thank rick and all staff that put together this wonderful (clapping) do you know one of the down sides of working as the president of the mercy housing i don't get to see harassing as much of how people invest in their lives so for me, the small windows they're quite incredible to try to understand the impacts that this property has. i had a chance to meet those folks and maurice is going to come up and share a few remarks. thank you, mary religious we know el monte is coming we're not are sure she's getting rid of her gum.

7:19 am
and others i met a few people helen so hi everybody. yeah, we work on the gardens you can see we planted strawberries and raspberries and bagging basil and green onions and call. people like call. and a whole bunch of stuff their stroud and kids learn different types of ways they want to get tare green thimble working right now the kids are going to the boys and girls club all the kids are going to the boys and girls club willy mayor's office club they'll be back later they come after school and give them snacks and help them with they're reading and writing and there's we have computers that
7:20 am
are donated to us theirs a program called the er can see program my daughter is in the third grade when i was younger things were done on paper we're getting rid of this because trees h have to be cut down and move forward to xhurtsdz so students center to learn how to pit things object the computers and breakdown a math problems and explain to the folks how they got there. what else. following some great speeches there's trent where did he go oh, there and speeches the question came up how can we end homelessness or i feel like if someone asked that question it
7:21 am
didn't have an answer how do you end anger it didn't have an answer bus it is continuing law schools so long as there are humans in this world there is going to be times who people don't have a stable place to stay you can't end it but work towards making it easier and better for people who they don't have food and stability. and it's not only the people that have money that come up thank you very much, of course, but the people that are going through this and have to want something. because there's going to be people that is a you can't do this and that but your children won't have it about continue generation to generation.
7:22 am
and yeah. what else do i have to say i don't want to go into a long speak hopefully, the president is not mad at me for not writing down notes. thank you, everyone for coming down and allowing me to introduce myself and thank you for telling me my daughter is beautiful and i look handsome to the times if you guys need someone to talk to you with only wyoming have one good area by oh, i'm sorry jumping back in homelessness again. i give an example two invites ago i was going downtown and how the city changes as the sun goes down. we had tea we went downtown and
7:23 am
i believe we were leaving that downtown or coming into downtown and there were people living on the streets right inside of the underground station you have access to bart you have to walk past those people and it's not a good site and you have to explain to our children and justify why those people's are on the streets and sleeping on the sidewalks or walking past and their go forward because that's another thing that goes along with homelessness it's not only the physical aspect it's the communication that didn't exist between people that are homeless is it so they're a book called the inevitable man 31 they became inevitable they
7:24 am
still are there with the needs but they're not seen as having those things it's hard you have to explain and go home and hope with and deal with and try to ignore and get on with your life. i finished reading in a book really to trying to think it was - i believe it was frederick who speaks quality of the equal vs. qualify we can go and if we can't take care of every thing this artery has to offer because we come from the earth and eventually will go back to it so it's we don't want to leave this planet destroyed and, you know,
7:25 am
decascade to the people to the things that come after so work hard and if you say r see someone on the street and have small change give them something. so don't be ashamed and i'm not sure if this going on but everybody is one paycheck away from being on the street so love your neighbors and i've grown up people want to be traded a away way and i'll grow old and hopefully still feel the same. thank you and virginia great day >> (clapping). >>irginia great day >> (clapping). >>nia great day >> (clapping). great day >> (clapping). >>h great day
7:26 am

7:28 am
spent 2 and a half years in alcohol development and i was homeless and i lived in cars so simply put bayview gardens has given me and my family a space to call home. but what exactly is a home i'm glad i asked (laughter) for me home is where my family will continue to pick up the fragment and pieces of my past so their pitied back together to allow us to plan for you future and home it where my family is able to find some peace and comfortable when society only has to over uncertainly home is where we have stability. it's might belief it's not a coincidence that my years of homelessness came to an end at
