at city hall that included organizations like any member of the public wish to speak on any item and the school district we had sponsors that are deeply engaged in the work and had discussions around the changes that our families are going to be facing and 60 thousand young people coming out the united states and from the 60 thousands are going to come to san francisco and what can we do to support them. living in a city that is able to have those conversations i think the other piece that is interesting to the conversations he wanted us to about the the 90 thousand square feet facility that will help them to accommodate many of the young people coming that's an overwhelming request but heart

and feelings and empathy and everything else that goes along with what people in san francisco feel for the challenges that those young people are facing in their own criticize that was a really easy conversation to have so i just again am proud to be on a board that recognizes a work. i want to be clear about the way the kids are communicated not only are we in a city that embraces those challenges but we're in a state it embraces those challenges. when you listen to the news or hear the report, you know, they can sound very punitive and sound as of, you know, our children are coming out our country i doing rope horrible

things to us so i wanted to make sure we're all mindful of the respect that our children deserve that come into san francisco and the united states. and that we are very mindful in the way in which we speak about it as well not only to our friends and families but to our students and hope we have the opportunity to educate our students on those that are going to be joining us here 90 in san francisco and once again colleagues i'm proud of our work and able to bring this forward and speak on behalf of the children that are going to be joining us in amps commissioner haney. >> i want to say thank you to my colleagues, we're getting started off with important work we're going to be ahead of the

to be done. having ucsf and other folks from our staff and mission high school this is obviously everyone who are part of this our caveat and others who are central to this effort and that case it responsibly serious in terms of the way we put the kwaelth into action those kids have a set of needs that are perhaps a high of level to my kids we deal with with what they've been throw in their lives so for us to make the statement that maybe differs from what people are saying across the country not only boo do we welcome those children but take the responsibility seriously and step forward and do as much as we can.

i'm honored to have all the support we have in the district i also everyone in the community that is here and spoke on this and working on this. i think that this is very much a defining moment for our city and all of the organizations recommended here tonight this work of the city supervisor campos office and everyone that came together and organized and fought for this all things in the resolution have come from the community that they've prioritized it's been a collective effort and people have organized in a way that's the best of what the school district is i hope we continue to horn that in the coming weeks i know there's a lot we're going to learn an effort that will grow and reflect more but you

what was referred to last time at the labor council meeting we have a predicting presentation by 11 student interims 16 to 23 who are fascinating this week in order to call attendance to the migrate of the children on the border. i was with them this afternoon we've invite them to come to our membership meeting on theirs. they want to collect children cloekts and children's shoes backpacks, and if possible money. and see we've invited them to be there we're competing to have quite a few of the teachers and hope we can get collections at that time, if there's anything that anyone else wants to bring there will be someone there from
